“Oh! Robin, hey.” She glances at Lucy, catches herself. “This is Lucy. My—” she stops, then forces a smile. “Girlfriend.”

“Oh! Yeah I have a girlfriend too. She’s French and she Lives in Canada like Montreal and She’s visiting next week. Her name is—”
“Joséphine,” Steve blurts from behind the counter. “Joséphine!” Robin nods wildly. “She’s a model. Makes crepes too!”

“What if she recognizes you?” Steve asks.
Nancy shrugs. “We never interacted. Different grades.”
“I said she was FRENCH,” Robin says, desperate biting her lip till it hurts.
Nancy stands up. And then in a perfect, French accent “Bonjour, I am Joséphine from Montreal. I make ze crepes and I am in love with zis American idiot.”
Steve and Robin are full gaping at her.
“Okay, that was good,” Steve admits.

Robin sighs, head in her hands. “You’re hired.”
