I don’t know who needs to hear this but be nice to fanfic authors. Reblog their stuff. Tell them you liked it. How you felt when reading. What school assignment you didn’t finish because of how captivating their story was. Don’t just scream to your friends about it. But tell them.
So many wonderfully talented people out there don’t get the praise they need. If their work brought you joy, make their day better by telling them it did.
Long ago I wrote a fic. Posted it under a different name without telling anyone in the fandom group I was active in. Watched how the online fandom group loved the fic and had a conversation of it in a positive spirit with each other - what did they like it, theories of this and that, how nice it was to get a new fic into this small fandom etc. - but did they leave feedback to the fic? No. I think it was only one person who commented the fic from the group.
I know the fan group liked the fic because I saw the outside comments. But, if I hadn’t seen them - like readers don’t - then I’d think the fic was not worth of my time and no one read it, or read it but didn’t care about it as it clearly was not worth of any comment.
We’re not telepathics. We don’t know. Tell the creators. They want it and appreciate the feedback. If we didn’t want you to interact with the stuff we create, like comment it/share it/reblog it/etc. we wouldn’t post the stuff online for you to see.
It occurs to me upon reading this that we don't have conversations like this in the comments to the author's fic---so much of fandom is interacting with each other about media we love, but in the fanfic comments section the conversation is almost just commenters talking directly to the author, and maybe the author talking back.
Nobody launches a metacommentary thesis for other readers to debate about in the AO3 comments, or has long comment threads gushing to each other about their favorite character's interactions; it's like the tendency to give the author space while we go play with their creations, a relic of our past when we weren't supposed to exist, has extended to fic authors who are themselves playing in the same mud we are.
We act like it's bad manners to love a fic in front of an author, in the ways the fandom that writes fanfic loves a fic.
I have had one or two fics where readers engaged with one another in the comments and I can say with 100% surety that it was REALLY COOL to see!!! Even if they weren’t talking to ME, they were talking about the thing I made where I could see it and that made me feel GREAT. Absolutely loved it.
I write fanfiction and let me tell you: comments about the fic and what you like about it make the hours of work all worthwhile. Literally there is nothing else going for me right now. I get up, go to work, come home, go to bed. To get a (1) in my inbox instantly makes me happy and I'd be nothing without it.
I’m so much more productive after the sun goes down. While the sun is up I feel the weight of having to do things and it just overwhelms me.
But when the sun has gone to bed suddenly my time is my own. I can do with it what I will and oftentimes that means the cleaning I’ve been meaning to do, the projects I’ve been putting off. They suddenly don’t seem overwhelming to me.

⊹・however, the posts are still viewable if you go to one’s blog directly or if post notifications for a certain blog is turned on.
⊹・if you are a content creator using one of these newly banned tags, rather than using mass post editor to delete & add tags, tag replacer is a far easier tool to use.

So let me try to clear my mind.... Are people invalidating what other people ship (canon or not it's only shipping) when it's probably that those that criticize are also invalidating other aro people?
Because if you read this that I copy paste from acesandaros.org and read and learn about aces and aros in real life, in my humble opinion, we can have a relationship between Kate and Yelena without problems nor so much drama. Just it should be very well written and don't erase Yelena reality. Do but with respect. The world is too big to put it in a little box.

before i got into my current relationship, i believed that i was 100% ace didn’t think i was ever going to date or anything sexual. even recently, i have been struggling because i still feel that way in certain aspects, but i absolutely love my partner and couldn’t see myself with anyone else! me being in a relationship doesn’t erase my identity (even tho i’m still struggling with figuring out what exactly i am). after watching the hawkeye episode with my partner last night, i turned to him and was like “OMG YELENA AND KATE ARE SO STINKING CUTE TOGETHER” and i think they’d be a perfect couple!! personally, i think they remind me a lot of my partner and myself! i definitely think that this whole thing is being blown out of proportion.
even still, yelena isn’t canonically ace/aro either! and as much as that sucks, it’s the truth.
yelena CAN be ace/aro and STILL be in a relationship!
Every writer inevitably gets to that scene that just doesn't want to work. It doesn't flow, no matter how hard you try. Well, here are some things to try to get out of that rut:
1. Change the weather
I know this doesn't sound like it'll make much of a difference, but trust me when I say it does.
Every single time I've tried this, it worked and the scene flowed magically.
2. Change the POV
If your book has multiple POV characters, it might be a good idea to switch the scene to another character's perspective.
9/10 times, this will make the scene flow better.
3. Start the scene earlier/later
Oftentimes, a scene just doesn't work because you're not starting in the right place.
Perhaps you're starting too late and giving too little context. Perhaps some description or character introspection is needed before you dive in.
Alternatively, you may be taking too long to get to the actual point of the scene. Would it help to dive straight into the action without much ado?
4. Write only the dialogue
If your scene involves dialogue, it can help immensely to write only the spoken words the first time round.
It's even better if you highlight different characters' speech in different colors.
Then, later on, you can go back and fill in the dialogue tags, description etc.
5. Fuck it and use a placeholder
If nothing works, it's time to move on.
Rather than perpetually getting stuck on that one scene, use a placeholder. Something like: [they escape somehow] or [big emotional talk].
And then continue with the draft.
This'll help you keep momentum and, maybe, make the scene easier to write later on once you have a better grasp on the plot and characters.
Trust me, I do this all the time.
It can take some practice to get past your Type A brain screaming at you, but it's worth it.
So, those are some things to try when a scene is being difficult. I hope that these tips help :)

Minji looked down at her uniform, a soft sigh escaping her lips as her fingers trailed across the folded bodysuit. She then turned her attention to the mirror in front of her, thinking about the chaos that waited outside of the changing room she was in. If only Flag had taken her advice and been more careful with June and more importantly, Enchantress. God, she hated men. Especially the men that are stupid, egotistical, and who think they know everything.
Was it Flag she was upset with? Or was she upset with herself?
Flag stood at the doorway of Minji’s hotel room, his arms in their usual crossed position. “Lee, Waller called. She needs to see you.” He informed, his words making one of Minji’s eyebrows rise in question. “Really? Now? She knows that we’re doing the mission with Enchantress tonight, and I’m the most equipped person to terminate her and the other target if needed.” She questioned as she stepped back to continue to get ready for the mission, grabbing one of her guns and settling it into her holster. “Well, I just got the order from Waller. I can handle Enchantress just fine.” Flag replied simply, watching the petite woman move around the room. With a quick scan of his thoughts, Minji sighed and grabbed her jacket before pulling it on.
“Okay. Good luck tonight.”
Why hadn’t she been able to tell that Flag was lying? Why hadn’t she called Waller to check? Was Enchantress involved? If Enchantress was involved, why hadn’t she been able to tell? Did Enchantress want her to know that she was able to control the Colonel and that no matter what Minji did, she wouldn’t be able to help him?
Few things made Waller show any type of emotions. However, when Minji walked into the conference room, a look of confusion flashed across the woman’s features for a quick moment. “Lee, why are you here?” Waller questioned, making a sense of dread spread through Minji’s body. “Flag. He told me-” Minji started before she was cut off by Waller bringing her hand up to her communicator, turning from Minji to the screens in front of her. “Flag, talk to me. What's going on down there?” Waller questioned as Minji made her way next to her boss.
“Amanda, she bolted.” Rick’s voice rang through the room. Minji felt her face pale. Did Enchantress escape? The room was dead silent until Waller spoke.
“Say it again?”
“She bolted!” Almost immediately after Flag repeated himself, Waller let out a soft ‘shit’ before spinning around to stab multiple holes into Enchantress’s heart. Minji just stood there silently, not knowing what to do.
Wrapping her belt around her hips, Minji clasped it shut and pulled her guns out of their case. After admiring them for a moment, she slid the guns into her holsters. She then adjusted the gauntlets around her wrists before taking one last look at herself in the mirror. Sighing, she pushed back a few stray hairs from her face before leaving the room. As she walked down the hallway, she reminded herself to stay professional. Minji hasn’t seen Flag since the incident, working with Waller to try to figure out what Enchantress’s plan was and how to stop it.
Opening the door to the outside, Minji put her sunglasses on and made her way over to Flag, who had just landed and gotten out of the helicopter. “Those assholes here yet?” He asked the spy, who nodded. “Yeah, they just arrived.” She answered, walking over to the inmates alongside Flag.
“Alpha, Bravo team, on me.” Flag commanded, a couple of soldiers coming up beside the Colonel and the Lieutenant. “What the hell, Flag?” GQ, one of Flag’s buddies, questioned as he looked over the array of criminals in front of him, his eyes landing on Killer Croc. “Unlock 'em.” Flag commanded again, soldiers instantly moving to undo the restraints of each criminal. Minji watched the inmates through her sunglasses, her arms crossed over her chest.
“Hi, boys! Harley Quinn.” The jester greeted while she stretched, reaching her hand out as if she were shaking someone’s hand. “How do you do?” Minji was the only one who reacted, simply giving her a curt nod of acknowledgment, which made Harley smile wider than she already was.
“Huh?” Harley spoke after a couple of seconds of silence, only starting to talk when she had everyone’s attention. “What was that? I should kill everyone and escape?” She proceeded to let out a sigh, looking around the courtyard. “Sorry. It's the voices… I'm kidding! Jeez!” She giggled, looking at Flag, who looked the most irritated by the blonde woman. “That’s not what they really said.” Harley finished before everyone turned their attention to Flag, who’d stepped forward.
‘What do we got here?’ He announced, looking at the soldiers who were carrying a big sack. “Twelve pounds of shit in a 10-pound sack.” He murmured, before grabbing a knife and cutting open the sack. “Welcome to the party, Captain Boomerang.” The affronted man scrambled out of the bag, punching the first person he could see. Minji brought her hand up, Boomerang suddenly pushing back up against the cart behind him with a black mist surrounding his body.
“Hey, what's going on, man?” He asked, looking around wildly before his eyes settled on the petite woman.
“Calm down.” She spoke calmly, tilting her head a little which allowed Boomerang to see the black abyss that was Minji’s eyes.
“Hey, one minute I'm playing Mahjong with me Nanna, then this red streak hits me outta nowhere.” He stuttered out, clearly lying to try and save his ass. “Shut up! You were caught robbing a diamond exchange.” Flag stepped in, giving Minji a look to stand down. Putting her hand down, the black vapor disappeared into thin air as Boomerang stumbled forward slightly. “I was not!”
“Here comes Slipknot, the man who can climb anything. Wonderful.” Flag introduced the next person as a car pulled in, a woman stepping out to open up the back door. “Have a good time, scumbag.” She spits before Slipknot lunged forward, punching the woman down. He was quickly pulled off the woman by some of his guards, shrugging when he saw the eyes on him. “She had a mouth.” He defended himself, making Harley cackle.
“Listen up! In your necks, injection you got, it's a nanite explosive. It's the size of a rice grain, but it's powerful as a hand grenade.” Flag informed the inmates, some of them reaching up to touch their necks. “You disobey me or Rogue, who is my lieutenant,” He paused to motion towards Minji, who gave a small wave. “You die. You try to escape, you die. You otherwise irritate or vex me, and guess what? You die.” Flag finished his rules, looking at all the inmates in front of him. “I'm known to be quite vexing. I'm just forewarning you.” Harley warned, making Minji smile a little bit. She could already tell that they’d get along, at least with annoying Flag. “Lady, shut up!” The previously mentioned male snapped, looking over at the jester with an irritated expression. “This is the deal. You're going somewhere very bad, to do something that'll get you killed. But until that happens… You're my problem.” He informed harshly with an amused expression on his face, Minji’s eyes rolling. This whole situation was his fault. If he’d just listened to her...
“So was that like a, uh, pep talk?” Floyd asked, looking at Rick with an unimpressed expression. “Yeah. That was a pep talk. There's your shit.” He said, pointing towards the area with a bunch of bins, each of the inmates’ names on a bin.” Grab what you need for a fight. We're wheels up in 10.” Rick finished, getting ready to move away before Floyd moved forward. “You might wanna work on your team motivation thing.” The hitman critiqued, Minji forcing herself not to laugh at the man’s comment. Floyd wasn’t wrong. “You heard of Phil Jackson?” He asked, Flag responding with a simple ‘yeah’ with a nod. “He's like the gold standard, okay?” Floyd continued, bringing his hands up in a shape of a triangle. “Triangle, bitch. Study.” Rick simply rolled his eyes, before turning to his crew and motioned for them to follow him. Taking one last look at the group as they walked towards their crates, Minji turned to follow Flag.
“Behold the voice of God.” Flag stood in front of the now-ready criminals, holding out a tablet, where Waller’s face showed through the screen. “For those of you who don't know me officially, my name is Amanda Waller.” The woman introduced herself before continuing into the details of the mission they were about to do. “There's an active terrorist event in Midway City. I want you to enter the city, rescue HVT-1, and get them to safety.” She informed. Once more, Waller was obstructing the truth from the team. All they were going to do, was rescue Waller because she’d decided she was going to stay in Midway, instead of leaving with the spy when she’d left.
Floyd raised his hand and waved it, trying to get Waller’s attention. “I'm sorry. Uh... For those of us who don't speak good guy, what is HVT-1?” He asked, looking at the other criminals before looking back at the tablet.
“The only person that matters in the city, the one person you can't kill. Complete the mission, you get time off your prison sentence. Fail the mission, you die. Anything happens to Colonel Flag or Rogue, I'll kill every single one of you. Remember, I'm watching. I see everything.” Waller answered, before reiterating what Flag had said earlier to the team. She then logged off, and Flag handed the tablet to Minji. She then put the tablet away with the use of her powers. “There's your pep talk.” He commented with a snarky tone, the amusement in his eyes hidden behind the sunglasses he had on. “Compared to your shit, she killed it.” Floyd sassed back, a smug expression on his face before he continued. “So that's it? What, we some kind of Suicide Squad?” The hitman questioned, his head tilting to the side slightly.
“I'll notify your next of kin.” The Colonel replied before walking past Floyd, ‘accidentally knocking into him before continuing to walk. Minji rolled her eyes before moving to follow Flag without running into anyone.
“Alpha, Bravo team. Mount up!”
After loading onto the helicopter (with slight resistance), the team took off for Midway City. “I haven’t formally introduced my Lieutenant to all of you yet. Her name is Rogue. She can kick your ass without even moving a finger. She’s also a world-class spy, there’s almost nothing she can’t do.” Flag introduced Minji, who simply gave a nod. “Ooh! What’s telekinesis?” Harley asked, her curious eyes looking over the petite woman. “I can move things with my mind and read minds. I was the one who restrained Boomerang earlier if you guys couldn’t tell.” Minji responded, looking over towards the Australian man.
After some time, the helicopter had arrived at Midway City, which was now up in smoke. “Ooh. Look at the pretty lights! Are you guys seeing this?” Harley exclaimed, looking out the window of the helicopter at what looked to be an electrical storm.
“What happened?” Floyd asked Flag, who simply shrugged before answering. “Terror attack. Dirty bombs, bad guys shooting up the place with AKs. You know, usual shit.”
“Right. Yeah, you're a bad liar…” Floyd called Flag out, making a small smile spread onto Minji’s face. “I don't know if they told you, but I'm a hitman. I'm not a fireman. I don't save people.”
“Anything for a dollar, right?” Flag retorted, leaning forward in his seat.
“You know the dark places, too. Don't act like you don't.” Floyd responded to the man, a bit of humor in his voice as he looked at the man across from him before shooting Minji a wink. She knew exactly what he meant. The world that they lived in wasn’t as black and white as Flag liked to think.
“I'm a soldier! And you're a serial killer who takes credit cards.” Flag taunted, pointing at Floyd. “When the shooting starts, and it will, you'll cut and run.”
All of a sudden, the helicopter was hit by some gunfire, effectively taking out a pilot and one of the engines. Soon, chaos erupted in the cabin as the helicopter, with Harley screaming as the helicopter started to descend rapidly.
“Six-one is going down.” The remaining pilot called out, trying to steady the helicopter.
