Hello everyone! I'm Eli (he/him) and I'm a 22 year old Chinese Canadian who writes about just about anything that catches my fancy. Currently I'm dabbling into horror, superheroes and the occasional poem scattered about. Really this account is for me to ramble about my WIPs and to share snippets!

Current WIPs

Sacrificial Lamb | Horror

An exploration of power between an elderitch creature hiding in a more human form their relationship with a lonely doctor who comes in to do their physical assessment bi-weekly.

This City, Our City | Horror/Superheroes/Mystery

In which a hero, one who has recently lost his partner, attempts to untangle the mystery of a death within his home city. What he unravels forces to him to deal with his grief and the very secrets lying right under his feet for years.

Additional Notes

Most of the things which I write (if not all) are targeted towards adults so really it's about following accordingly as things do get dark (will tag accordingly).

Similarly, most of my works deal with some part of the queer experience (as well as metaphors) so take it as you will. Love reading about queers who do terrible things so I also write about them!

how non-writers think writing works: creating a detailed outline and plan, writing each section carefully and weaving in all the different story threads like a master creator, expertly creating a masterpiece with care and precision

how writing actually works: daydreaming that one scene, creating a half-formed plot in a daze all around it, swearing at characters that don't magic themselves into existence, becoming absolutely obsessed with the story for a solid week, it becomes your entire life, you sit down open a blank word document and write approximately two and a half chapters, lose interest, daydream an entirely new idea for a new story, rinse and repeat

I'm being DEAD serious here guys. Make problematic ocs. I'm telling you. It's so much fun. And easier to get invested in them sometimes because they really STICK OUT in your brain. You fall in love with them.

For help developing problematic ocs try out these two methods

Method one: think of a problematic choice your oc will make. This could be; abandoning their children, killing a sibling, siding with the oppressor whatever. Work backwards from there. What are the implications of someone who would make that decision.

Method two: give them a motivation and work forwards from there. For example; they have the motivation to survive no matter what, they need to be the ruler of their society, they will not go against a specific religious/moral code etc. now make sure every decision they ever make is in line with that and crucially put things in their way that'll make them make fucked up decisions to get what they want.

Now! You have! A fucked up oc! And you will love them! I promise

Hello, my fellow writers of tumblr!

I have another big "boost writers" idea that I've had previously (aka like... two years ago) that I'm finally wanting to really focus more attention and time on, since I now have more time to focus on it...

It's called The Writeblr Rag and it's a newspaper ABOUT writeblr. I have a blog for it (@thewriteblrrag) and it's slowly been in the works over time... but I finally want to actually see if I can work up an idea for the first paper.

To the point: my fantasy writers, I want the first front page to be about a fantasy writer/WIP. So if you guys write fantasy, can you please let me know if you'd be interested in being on this front page?

It'd contain a little Q&A about your writing & WIP. I'd probably ask you about your writing processes, how you got into writing, etc. I also plan to have the writer featured on the games page as that paper's crossword puzzle. So I'd be combing through your blog for some words I could use for it. 🤔 so if you have ideas for words that you feel would be fairly easy to find but people would still have to go to your blog to find them, feel free to hint it at me!

If you're interested, reach out to me at @queerlilchinchin (my main blog) and we can see about details. If I get multiple people... I'm not sure what I'll do to decide who, but everyone can be featured, they just won't all be one the front page.

weird thing about writing is that like, even if no one decides to rep me and I don't get published and don't become a bestseller, if not one of those things happen, I've still got the book. I still have the story. It's a thing that you don't have to commit your entire life to but that you never have to give up if you don't want to.

it's just ingrained in my head that I will never stop writing, regardless of whether I'm empirically successful or not, cuz it's not about the success. It's always been about the stories.
