Well...

So a few days ago, I made a post about gun control, in response to all the school shootings. According to an advocacy group for gun control, there are on average three school shootings a week in 2018. Apparently, this number included incidents that did not actually involve guns and kids dying.

But since I made that post, I have gotten a boatload of anonymous hate, people responding with “libtard” and “go kill yourself”, as well very passionately defending their beloved guns.

And this forced me to arrive at an interesting conclusion that others have came to, but one in which I never 100% believed.

Literally POC culture is just being super excited whenever u get any sort of representation in media like I fell off the couch in excitement over Ringer from Fifth Wave being Asian and so well-written. 

If you’re POC and into cosplay, most of yours are probably racebent bc a lot of the characters that people know and are fun to dress up as are white. 

Whenever there are books centered around us, our POC-ness is the central plot line. Like they’re literally about race issues and being POC and I just really want to read a book about a kickass character whose Chinese but has a story that’s not about being Chinese.

Isn’t it so fucked up that we all get two weeks off for Christmas, a two day holiday, but Jewish kids can’t have a single day off for an eight day holiday?

They don’t even get to miss school for the biggest Jewish holy day, Yom Kippur. My school had finals over Hanukkah. They say they care about all religions equally, but judging by their actions, imma say they don’t. And that has got to change.

Apparently the ones they practiced most are “Kai is an asshole”, “Kai is weirdass” and “what did Kai do this time?”

Who would have thought cis people would gender a fucking ribbon? I was wrapping a present for one of my besties (a boy) with this ribbon, and when my mom saw, she said it was a “girl ribbon”, and that I couldn’t use it for a boy. So if you’re a boy and getting a gift from me this holiday season, it will be covered in this ugly ass red ribbon. But seriously. It’s a scrap of cloth. Why on earth would you say it’s exclusively for one gender?

Once upon a time my parents had a Christmas party in our house and my bestie and I are both awkward introverts so we hid in my room for most of it to watch Netflix in a blanket fort and we watched a really scary tv series with a shit ton of jump scare gore and suspense and I remember at one point there was this huge jump scare and someone was brutally murdered and typical horror movie shit happening and he got so scared he screamed really fucking loudly and my parents thought that I was killing him and all our guests thought we were up to drugs or whatever and that was the last time we hosted a party.

coming out

Do you ever have it where you come out to someone, and then suddenly, to them you aren’t a person anymore?

Like, obviously, you still are. But to them, you’re just gay. Bisexual. Transgender. Like you’re the sum of just your sexual orientation and gender identity, instead of your personality. 

At a summer camp I went to, I came out to some of the kids in my unit. Before, I really felt like I was someone to them- dark humor, flutist, nerd, passionate about social justice. Most were really great about my coming out, but to some, I feel like they just saw me as panromantic and nothing else. Not a person, but just a walking and talking sexuality. It sucked, and actually really hurt. 

So when someone comes out to you, don’t do that to them. The fact that they’re LGBTQ shouldn’t change the fact that they’re human. Don’t erase the rest of their identity because you’ve uncovered a particular piece of it
