I'm back here!

Oh, so much happened in these months.

I did pretty well at school, the last day was last Friday; the theatre course play was amazing, I almost cried while relizing that it would have been the last day with our group...sure, we'll meet on Monday, but...it's never the same as behind the scenes. I said a truly grateful farewell for this summer to my school's library...a second home, for me. I had fever, also! In June, it should be illegal, but...cough. Oh, the one in the photo is my classroom. That is teacher's desk, the pile on the left are all my classmates' late notes, the ones on the right... just mines. Yeah. Not an early bird. I took that picture on last day, probably now they'll toss those all away :/ . Went to the Opera! That one, in the photo, is Barber of Seville, "Largo al Factotum"...LIVE! Absolutely STUNNING. Loved it all. On my way home, walking with my brother, we encountered that soo beautiful church in the city centre...well, the inside is way better (the columns in one of my other posts are from there!). Also strolled trough the park, trees at night are really amazing.

Last but definitely not least...I'LL HAVE CONSERVATOIRE ADMISSION TEST NEXT MONDAY.

I'm still not ready, so...I decided to have a week of self-imposed enclosure to lock in and get totally ready! :D

Currently learning this on harp...it's so beautiful, and relaxing

April days of Productivity - Day 1

Started late. Well, I'm always late, so...however.

Chill morning, I guess. Cello lesson, return by bus, eating gelato in front of sea while walking home...there was a guy, there, playing violin. He was really good, I stopped to talk to him. That made me really happy, of that lasting happiness, don't know how or why. And motivated.

Once home, tidied a bit up my room, and studied Philosophy, by repeating and making few flashcards.

After resting and cuddling my cat, I started playing. My Courante (Suite no 1) is really imptoving, lately, I'm sooo happy for that! Kreutzer Etudes are repetitive, but necessary, and so are Sevčik bow exercises. Practiced until, about, 22. Stopped just for going to buy some groceries.

Then, started practicing harp. It is more silent, so I can play at late evening without being hated by neighbours, which can be a good thing for a musician. Studied from Grossi excersise book, and perfectioned Greensleeves, with left-hand chords.

Did a bit of planning on Notion (just discovered a perfect calendar template!) and fell asleep while reading Virgil. A classic.

Well, it was a chill day, I can say. Not too bad.

Energy 5/10

Productivity 6/10

Sanity 8/10 (weirdly high)

Hi!

I've been sooo busy lately, but I really want to keep publishing things here...like a crazy diary, I guess... so, let's start!

Must do few things:

1. Be consistent with my publishing industry courses

2. Study every subject, a bit a day, focusing on Philosophy, History, Physics, Maths, English, Literature, Greek

3. FINISH THAT BOOKS. MY SCHOOL'S LIBRARIAN LOOKS AT ME LIKE "Did you return that one? No, huh? Knew it. How are you?"

4. Continue to study those things about neoplatonism

5. Having marks that start from 7/10 (ONLY FOR STRICT TEACHERS) and go UP

6. Memorize completely my lines in theatre course script

7. Rebuild my style, making it MY OWN REAL ONE, as I really want

8. Read at least the Book I of Enneads

9. Memorize perfectly the Canti for Dante Day, and have a SUCCESS!

10. Keep my room tidy

11. Study and make perfect the Suite no.1, and practice on Cello with dedication and love

12. Study on Harp with dedication

13. Prepare the perfect Dante essay

14. Reach level C1 at the English course

15. Play at least once with my ensemble

OK NOW PLEASE TELL ME WHY. WHY ON EARTH.

Let me explain. This is my written test about Dante, an in-class essay. It was nearly perfect, and yes, a few parenthesises weren't closed. BUT ALMOST ALL THE MISTAKES THAT THE TEACHER (the new, terrible one) MARKED WERE INVENTED! OR EVEN WRONG. And, you know what? When I told her, she said "well, I can't be the interpreter of your essay, this does not make sense to me." I JUST WROTE SOME SLIGHTLY UNUSUAL WORDS. SHE EVEN MARKED ONE AS NON-EXISTENT. I looked up in the dictionary. IT DOES EXIST! Oh, and you know what else she said? "There is no trace of your personal thoughts here." ...I ALMOST IMPROVISED ALL THAT. I STUDIED ANOTHER CANTO, THAT WAS UNEXPECTED. ALL THE LINKS, ALL THE QUOTED SOURCES WERE COMING FROM MY DESPERATE MEMORY. And I also proposed another point of view on all the thing. SO, TELL ME. TELL ME WHY ON EARTH, 9+/10 !

Really, I don't know. She said "you complain for that mark? That's ridiculous..." well, maybe I expected more, from myself and from her.

Oh, but wait. Wait for the next essay. I will make it uncomprehensible. SHE WILL REGRET. SHE WILL ASK ME TO TRANSLATE. I'm no more able to stand her. NO. I'll have my academic revenge. Oh, if it will happen...

I'm just saying that I played this at my school, at 9 pm, immediately before reciting the Orphic Hymn to Night. Ok, let me explain.

These weeks has been crazy. Dante Day was moved to 17th april, we're rehearsing as often as possible. I had an oral test about Dante, and had 8/10. JUST 8. I SAID EVERYTHING. What do I have to do? I know more than the teacher about him, her words, not mine. WHY. Whatever. Also did the written test. Let's hope...

While preparing the scenes for Dante, we were thinking about how to dress Bertram de Born. A friend of mine said, joking, that we could have maid real chainmail. I proposed to seriously do that, and found a tutorial...but it seems that we won't. What a pity.

I'm learning to play harp! I'm pretty good, and learning fast. Oh, obviously I'll always love cello and dedicate my life to it. But that doesn't mean that I can't play another instrument, in between. Speaking of cello. I made up, with two other girls of my school (and close friends), a pianist and a flutist, an ensemble! Our symbol are the Muses, and our name is Arsμονία Ensemble. It's soooo beautiful to be in a ensemble of your own : ) The Aμ between the stamps that I created with clay is our symbol.

Aaaaand so. We arrived to the point. Almost. At theatre course, in Hyppolitus by Euripides, I'll be Artemis! And, for Classical High Schools National Night, we prepared some things: an excerpt from the Eautontimorumenos by Terentius, and....the declamation, by heart, of an Orphic Hymn. The one to Νύξ. In Ancient Greek. Me and that friend who proposed the chainmail offered to learn that. We did. He's a really Dark Academia person, though I don't think that he knows what Dark Academia is. Really, could totally be Henry Winter. We often talk about philosophy, history, philology, ancient religions, we are reading the Enneads together... I think he's a really marvelous friend. And a true friend. However, we prepared for three weeks, often meeting to repeat together. We learned that hymn, divided it in solo and choral parts, in a wonderful way. In between, I pulled an all-nighter to prepare a Latin ad Greek Literature essay to be presented there, but the teacher said that it was too long and a bit too specific, which wouldn't have fitted. I was there like WHAT? ARE YOU SERIOUS.... she was, unfortunately. Also prepared some pieces (and the Te Deum Prélude!) with my ensemble, and played both in the library (basically my second home), in which the Technic Manager of the school brought us that 53-keys keyboard. It was... well, acceptable, we were grateful; and in Aula Magna (great hall/assembly hall/auditorium), it was fantastic. And then. FINALLY. We recited the Hymn. It was magic. Delightful. All that evening was, with me and all my friends singing, running through the dark hallways, laughing in empty classrooms...unforgettable. One of the craziest, and most beautiful, nights of my life.

Day 7, second quadrimester

A Sunday like another...woke up at 9, studied a bit of Greek Literature and made some coffee...tidied up my desk, re-read Canto IX for the first meeting for Dante Day project...read some Philosophy History, Iamblichus...wanted to go to an exibition about Dante, in the evening, but no one could come with me, and going there alone would have been dangerous... finished homework, revised history and washed my hair, then fell asleep.

Short but long day.

Today was pretty more interesting

Ok, I am now obsessed with this pianist. Like, he's literally Liszt in Kafka's body...I love him.

Day 6, second quadrimester

No school today. Slept till 9, about, and then...emergency. One of the most important guys in the Dante Day project left it (my deskmate). We were desperate, and spent all the morning trying to reorganise everything. Luckily, we found another guy and managed to get through all this.

Not much to say. Revised some Physics, English Grammar and Chemistry, but nothing special.

In the evening, went with a friend to a Lectura Dantis, and honestly, my opinion on that is...bruh. It was about Inferno, Canto XXXI, maade by an UNIVERSITY PROFESSOR. Still it was...a bit more than a paraphrase. Yes, the Canto was beautiful, interesting, but...the explanation was pretty scholastic. Not, absolutely, deep, a few references to classics and nothing more. Sincerely, my Italian Literature teacher (not the one who I have now, but the previous, who is temporarily replaced by this one) has made widely better and deeper explanations on various Canti, and I am in high school. It was also a social event, though, so somehow useful. The deconsacrated church where it has been done was so beautiful, I took some photos (not too many, didn't want to seem a tourist in my city), and visited the crypt.

It was raining, and we only had an half-broken umbrella, so we went in a chocolate and coffee shop nearby, which also has board games, cards, chess, etc., and played chess while sipping a delicious hot chocolate with halzenuts and biscuits. I was about to win (she's not that good, I had hundreds of possibilities to end the game before, but I wanted to teach her some techniques), when we looked at the clock: we had to go, it was so late! We took a picture of the chessboard and promised to finish the game the next time.

Strange day, tiring... but, after all, definitely worth it. And, I really felt like an academic, walking in the rain with my friend and talking about Dante, between ancient buildings and churchs, going to play chess in front of a hot chocolate... to be made more often!

Day 5, second quadrimester

Started the day by reading some Plato. A classic, perfect when you're mid-asleep, isn't it? However. Dressed up really nicely (but didn't take any photo :/), with black pants and boots, burgundy shirt and black cardigan, always with my black foulard/scarf (it is something in between, how do you call it? The one in the photo). On my way to classroom, the library lady stopped me, and gave me a little book of monovocalic sonnets. I thanked her, happily, and immediately started reading it, on the stairs. Once in class, the Ancient Greek teacher told us to form groups, to work on that word, σώμα, for Greek Language Day (we are in scientific section, so, you know, human body, Ippocrates...). I ended up with the boys group. They were talking about football all the time, but they were... nice, I guess. And there also was my deskmate, so it was not so terrible. Once finished, while they were talking about sports, I continued to read that little book...there was also a sonnet in Latin, I showed it to the teacher, who seemed amused. Then, Maths class. I was pretty active, also went to the board to solve a quadratic inequality. Pretty easy, though. At the end of the hour, and at the start of the next (Philosophy class), I finally finished that Art History project. Will submit it soon, and show it to the teacher on Tuesday. Showed to Philosophy teacher a sonnet about Miguel de Cervantes (he talked about it through few lessons), he seemed interested. The lesson went pretty good, it was interesting, unlike tge Italian Literature one, another boring repetition. When will you start Petrarch, teacher? Oh. Whatever. English Grammar class was pretty chill. I ran home after school, ate something quickly, prepared my tote bag and ran back to school, for Theatre course. We're preparing an Ancient Greek play, Hyppolitus by Euripides, which we have adapted and prepared in the past couple months. We haven't rehearsed yet to the point when the character who (or which? Don't know) I would like to play is in the scenes, but it was really beautiful to help and see the others (my best friend will be the lead! I am so proud of her. She's always concerned for that, but she has no reason, she's marvelous). After that, I walked for a while with some course friends, talking with then about literature and history. How much do I love them. One of them, a boy, is, I think, the only one person with whom I could talk about literally everything, especially classics and philosophy, without ever get him to be bored or tired. Time seems to be so brief when I'm with him.

Once at home, I continued to prepare and study things for the Dante Day, with my group, and practiced a bit. I'm not doing that really much...twoset don't chase me please

Day 4, second quadrimester

I'll write like it was today, though it was Thursday. Will do the same with the last two days, in next posts.

Not really a rough day. Arrived at school just a second before I would've been late. Phew. Religion History was pretty chill, I answered every question the teacher made to the class (not in a really pretentious way, no one else seemed to know the answers...), he even congratulated me, and marked that on his notebook. Then, Physics class. Did a couple practice exercises with my deskmate, it went pretty well. Italian Literature teacher FINALLY EXPLAINED CANTO VI OF DIVINE COMEDY! I was soo happy, and raised my hand about 20 times, of which she let me talk about 2 or 3. She said, at some point, "oh, I've got to remember that I must study, when I come here... you know that better than me" she was a little bit annoyed, I think, but I was happy of her respect. The two hours of History and Philosophy went away like minutes, between funny examples and questions about Aristotle. Then, my classmates went away (the Art History teacher was absent), and I went to the library, where the old lady who always helps the librarian helped me with my tautogrammed sonnet, and told me of monovocalic and monoconsonantic poems, explaining me various forms and techniques...it was marvelous. I had to go away, after a while, but I learned so much.

In the afternoon, I did my maths homework, while eating some fruit and crackers. I found this perfect union, banana and olives, I highly recommend to try that out, if you like the sweet-savoury contrast. After revising Italian Literature and Philosophy, I started some research about the Ancient Greek word σώμα, and its origin, but without a real outcome...just some vague traces of Proto-Indoeuropean.

Fell asleep on the Art History work, almost finished.

I'll write something also for these two last days!

Day 3, second quadrimester

The day started in a strange way. Arrived late at school, at half of the first hour, science class. The teacher said nothing, and laughed later to my deskmate's joke. Felt weird...he's really strict. Maybe, in the first hour, he didn't have time to get furious. Better like this. During the History class, Machiavelli inspired me to start writing a tautogrammed sonnet...we'll see how this will end up to be. The English teacher was absent, so I tried to learn how to draw eyes...tell me about that (picture)... it seems pretty terrible, any tips? I was drawing the lashes, when our Maths and Physics teacher arrived, in substitution, and started explaining quadratic inequalities...honestly, I was happy to have something to do not alone. But also slightly annoyed, hahaha. However, continued to draw during p.e. class, in the school gym, and also read Canto VI of Dante's Inferno, to anticipate the Italian Literature class of today. Unfortunately, after another hour of Maths, my classmates were tired and rowdy, so the teacher preferred to revise the already done topics. What a pity, and waste of time...at least for me. The others seemed happy to have an explanation on that for the fourth time...and then they ask me why I can't stand most of them. I said it to my deskmate, he answered "Tell her, say that you want to read Dante. They'll kill you, but... why not? Go, I'll try to sustain you"...useless to say that I didn't. Mostly for him. Didn't want him to be morally tortured as well. Walking out of school...it was bucketing down. Out of literally nowhere, a bunch of dark grey clouds had appeared, and turned the streets into rivers. I didn't have my umbrella, so I ran home, trying to protect the most delicate ancient books of the school library that I had in my backpack. At least, I was wearing my raincoat. Back home, lunched quickly and changed sneakers with boots. Lightning fast, prepared the tote bag with books and notebooks, took my umbrella and ran back to school, for the AI training course. I hate that so much... but it's compulsory. There was a debate lesson about pros and cons..obviously sided for the cons. My poor Inferno (picture) had some problems with the rain...I hope the librarian will understand. I'm almost the only person to go there...

It was a long day, couldn't do really much after the course finished (6 pm, and then I had to go buying groceries), but didn't waste my time. Read a bit of Symposium, and revised Phyisics and Religion History a little.

That one in the picture is my dream university, Scuola Normale Superiore, in Pisa. Yes...the city with the crooked tower. Visited it once. Refused to take pictures in strange poses. Just admired it. That school is one of the best...maybe the absolute best, for Classical Literature Studies and Mathematics Studies. I want to try doing the two-course degree...hope to reach that goal. I am working hard for it. What's your dream university, what are you going to study? Tell me!

Day 2, second quadrimester

Tough day. Not really for the classes (yes, ok, 2 hours of Latin Literature are tiring, but the explanation was pretty chill), but because two of my classmates (and friends..until few days ago) changed class course. And didn't tell to anyone...me neither. The school librarian had told me something about it yesterday...but I didn't think they were for real. I was wrong...

How much do I hate p.e. classes. I can't do anything, because almost every classmate of mine hates me, and the only one friend that I have now there (the two others went away...) always wants to play football with others. I am now bringing books to school gym, and trying to learn how to draw in that hours. At least I don't waste time...but this is not really a good thing.

Renewed my Dante Society card! It is soo beautiful, I always carry it with me : ) I'll probably go to a lectura dantis this saturday evening...will try to convince my best friend to come with me.

I am now obsessed with this banana oat milk I found at the supermarket few days ago. And with coffee... it's paradisiac. Trust me.

Continued that Art History assignment, almost finished it, I'll probably submit it this evening, and start a Latin project that my teacher assigned me a month ago.

Couldn't do much today, other than simple homework and that assignment...just some science revise...was not really happy in doing anything. But I must change this. Nothing should affect my academic progress and success.

Well. Could have been worse. Could definitely have been better. I hope that this day will be better.

Day 1, 2nd quadrimester

So. A new start. On Thursday, there will be the final grading, and I must be perfect. Absolutely perfect. That essay about Vulgata was tough, but I finished it on time, and then revised Chemistry and History.

The school day was short, I've done the Ancient Greek oral test, it went good, I quoted Dante, Euripides, and had a perfect pronounce : ). The lesson, then, on Hesiod, was so interesting, and, when possible, I raised my hand. Done the same during Chemistry class. The teacher wasn't reeeeally happy today, and asked us about not yet done topics...luckily, I always anticipate something, to be prepared. History class was pretty chill, the teacher started explaining the Reinassance and assigned an essay about privacy and freedom of the ones, and of the one's body, it'll be interesting to write it. After History class, my classmates went away, and I stayed for a bit at my school's library. The librarian gave me a really interesting book on Reinassance, and I also took Plato's Symposium.

After school, I had lunch (the parmigiana was delicious), and started copying the maths notes from the notebook to the bigger exercise book, and then done the (so simple, weirdly) exercises. Then I started an Art History work, which will be a comparison, made through a parable, between the Greek Art History and the Italian Constitution History, do you like the drawing I made of the Dipylon Amphora? I can't really draw, but at least I tried... with a thousand coffee cups drunk, I revised the whole philosophy syllabus, and the least made Latin Literature topics, but, let's admit it, I fell asleep on Plauto's Maenechmi. I hope that the next day will be also good, better if possible.

Fine, I must start from some point. Let's just say that I no longer know what a sleep schedule is, I am reading Ancient Greek like if I was Homer, in that cave, in Smirne, and I'm currently wondering how to make some good chemistry notes, everything surrounded in fading italian literature. Cool, isn't it? Freezing...

However! The quadrimester is almost over. Tomorrow, 2 hours, Ancient Greek oral test. Chemistry class, and if there will be any questions I must be the one to raise the hand. Also, History class. I remember nearly nothing 😭 but today I'll lock in and revise the whole syllabus. The procrastination has ended. I'll even anticipate those math exercises, due on Thursday. Why? Because yes. Because this week is kill or die, and I honestly would prefer to stay alive. No distractions, so no Bach or Mozart, I guess. Just some lofi? Or... do you have any suggestion, about classical music that's not distracting for a classical musician who must lock in? Do you have any suggestion about how to stay alive and doing all this? Oh, wish me luck. I must start now : )

Day 1 (restarted), first quadrimester

Woke up late. Yesterday, I went to the final evening of my city's cinema festival, and it finished past midnight... but I sincerely think that it was worth it : )

This morning I went to buy groceries with my mum, and also decided to take that caramel coffee with milk, which I drank later, when I was studying. I didn't have great expectation (it was obviously not freshly prepared), but...it was actually delicious! I had never tried something like that, it was a pleasant surprise.

After lunch, I started a huge Chemistry revise for tomorrow's oral test, and, without looking at the clock, went straight until 10 pm. I could talk about atomic models, gas laws and isotopes for ages. James Chadwick will appear in my dreams.

And here we come. Now. 2 am, blow drying my hair and writing down a Philosophy research after a quick Ancient Greek revise. And tomorrow I should wake up early. I love my life. My sleep schedule could have something else to say, though.

Through last days I saw dps a couple times, always parted... can't resist. You know, november, late autumn, school...you all know.

This refers to 15th September. 20 days ago. I was really busy.

Day 1 of school, first quadrimester

First day of school. Morning chaos (maybe not that much, less than other years), everyone runs for seats, I got the one in first row with a person who I don't work well with. Let's hope that, as every year, on the second day everything will change. Our English professor started poetry by making us bow to Shakespeare (she put a photo on the digital board and said "Please stand up and bow. He is everything."). I quite like her, tough I didn't appreciate totally her explaining method. Ancient Greek professor explained us what we will do through the year (and proposed us a contest, I would take part, but... really don't know. Poetry and musical contest... maybe? It is about peace). During Religion (history of religions) class we did, well, nothing, as it was the first lesson and the professor was trying to find out the best method to make tests. In Math hour, we controlled summer homework, as every year. After lesson finished, I went to school library with my friend and borrowed White Nights, by Dostoevskij, hoping that I'll like it. The librarian was really nice, and also gave me a "reading list" bookmark! I think that I'll finish it soon : ). After all, it's been a pretty chill day. In the afternoon, I mostly revised Biology for next day.

P.S.

I did not take part in the contest, and now I have a really, really better seat mate, who is also a friend of mine.

I will try to post more often, now that all is calmer.
