Remembering the bygone days of 2015 when I didn't obsessively save every scientific paper I glanced at into a citation manager because I could just punch what I vaguely remembered about any paper into Google and immediately retrieve it. Not even Google Scholar, regular Google. I barely even bookmarked websites for niche applications because Google could find them again so easily.
Now Google is so enshittified I can barely use it to find the same restaurant twice.
Nostalgic for when putting quotes around "specific phrases" would force Google to find an exact text match and adding a minus sign, as in -"phrase i don't want" would remove all the irrelevant results. Now the algorithm ignores those commands when it feels like (and it feels like ignoring them at least 95% of the time now).
