Some last minute birthday pictures. I’m soo not used to being in front of a legitimate camera lol, I’ve gotten used to phone cameras.
I hope the nervous awkwardness isn’t apparent in my face😬

Ik i normally talk about other stuff on here but I have something I really really wanna say.
I'm trying to do music some day and hopefully be a rapper, but where I live i'm super isolated. It's a rural place.
I'd have to drive like an hour away to be able to get to a studio to record.
Even then, i can't drive yet and I don't have a job to pay for studio time.
I don't wanna go alone either.
fun phenomenon
How is bnha anime of the decade...... they aren’t even anime of the hour of the minute of the second
The notes on this post were so toxic that staff just axed em
1969.........
Yes, when the original post is deleted from the server (not just the blog, but the Tumblr servers), there is no root post for notes to be added onto, and also no root post for time to be counted from, so it starts from zero. Most computer operating systems use Unix, which was launched in 1971 with t.he epoch date of midnight on January 1, 1970 as 1. Therefore zero is one second behind that date: December 31, 1969. Also, very unfortunately, this also means nobody except you and anyone you reblog it to will see this explanation, as you cannot open the notes to see comments when there are no notes.

HOW TO TURN OFF GOOGLE AI in GMAIL:
Open Gmail in your browser
Click on the Gear Icon ⚙️ in the upper right
In the General Tab, scroll down to "Smart Features" and UNCHECK THE BOX. It is about halfway down.
Then, right below that is Google Workspace smart features. Click on the "Manage Workspace Smart Features" and make sure both toggles are OFF
some people think writers are so eloquent and good with words, but the reality is that we can sit there with our fingers on the keyboard going, “what’s the word for non-sunlight lighting? Like, fake lighting?” and for ten minutes, all our brain will supply is “unofficial”, and we know that’s not the right word, but it’s the only word we can come up with…until finally it’s like our face got smashed into a brick wall and we remember the word we want is “artificial”.
I couldn't remember the word "doorknob" ten minutes ago.
ok but the onelook thesaurus will save your life, i literally could not live without this website
REBLOG TO SAVE A WRITER'S LIFE

REBLOGGING TO SAVE ANOTHER WRITERS LIFE
I use this every time I sit down to write. It's the best tool in the world and I would be lost without it!
i saw someone say nobody needs to know what a .txt file is anymore. what the fuck is the world coming to
unironically i think we need to bring back computer labs because APPARENTLY some people WERENT taught basic computer literacy and internet safety in school
things about computers/the internet i think kids should be formally taught in schools because theyre important to know and the amount of soon to be grown adults i know who know NOTHING about any of these is quite frankly almost all of them (and resources to learn if you dont know these things, because its never to late to get better with computers)
how to troubleshoot by yourself when you have a technical problem
what common file types are
some very basics on how to use ""developer tools"" on your computer (because i cant think of a better way to refer to them) like task manager and command prompt (and their mac equivalents, terminal and activity monitor ofc)
how to read and understand a privacy policy and what your personal data is, as well as what it being collected actually means and steps you can take to keep it private
how to understand terms of service (hey. if you have trouble with reading legalese and worry about being able to understand these policies anyways, here's a site that gives basic summaries of privacy policies and ToS)
what a cookie actually is
internet privacy and your digital footprint!! seriously i dont know why we stopped teaching people that they shouldnt be putting their entire real identity online in a world where your online actions can ruin you irl
basic safety measures like antivirus software (and why you should use it or if the built in one on windows or mac is enough for you) and backing up your computer (also a mac guide)
common keyboard shortcuts (and on mac)
as an additional note: things i think everyone should know on computers and the internet but schools may bit hesitant to teach about for whatever moral/legal standards schools pretend to operate on
vpns and adblockers! (btw for most of these where you can pay for things im purposefully not recommending any specific software but seriously just use ublock origin for an adblocker)
how to not get a virus while pirating something
what a temporary email is and when to use one
red flags that you shouldn't trust a website (and how to quickly check the security of a site)
what javascript on a website does and how to disable it to get around paywalls
ok one last addition! if you want to take it one level higher, i think learning the very basics of at least one programming language is good for people. it makes computers less scary and it makes you feel very cool, and a lot of people get discouraged about it because it seems overly complicated and hard to learn outside a formal classroom setting, so heres some resources for learning the very basics of python (because i consider it the easiest language to learn and knowing one language will make it easier to learn others)
an online compiler so you dont need to download anything or worry about running code directly on your computer if that makes you nervous
a basic video guide to introduce you to python and walk you through beginner steps
a guide to some syntax and commands you should know (this was literally my lifeline in my first CS class)
some performance tasks to give you things to code to practice and assess yourself
he's very excited about his first night as a jack o lantern

I love how its getting closer to that time of year again and ppl starting to reblog my boy again
all politics about ai aside if you use it to create fanwork you're just a fucking dweeb
not to show my jock colors on this my nerd blog but the whole fucking point is that it's for love of the game. sweat over it or get the fuck out. i'm no gatekeeper but if you're using ai you're not even playing. you're trying to pave over the baseball diamond and make it a parking lot.
uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuUUUUUUUUUUUUUUAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!
Find your members of Congress by typing in your address on Congress.gov.
This also includes a VPN ban, and the punishment for making any of the content named in the bill accessible to a resident of the state is $100,000 and 10-20 years in prison.
This is a blatant violation of the first amendment. Like. Horrendously so.
Here's a link to the bill itself for anyone who wants to read it. It's fairly short
since one of the "find your reps" links posted above is for the US Congress, i just want to clarify that while you SHOULD call your US congressional reps to demand they take a stand against attacks on free speech and trans rights, among other ongoing manifestations of fascism, the bill in question here is a state-level bill in the Michigan legislature.
if you don't live in Michigan, the messages you leave for their state reps are NOT going to be taken into account!!! organizers generally recommend NOT calling reps other than your own, as doing so will dilute the number of messages their staff take note of from constituents.
for those who live outside MI, one thing you can do is help mobilize those who live in the state to call their reps by sharing this info. I've searched online for canvassing campaigns to link here, but I can't find any at the moment; I am sure that they will pop up, though, so please stay aware.
ALSO: The bill is very unlikely to pass. It has only 6 co-sponsors as of 9/16; MI's House of Representatives has 110 total seats. there is a small GOP majority in the House but a small Democrat majority in the Senate (and this kind of anti-free-speech maximalism is not likely to be broadly supported by any state Republican party because it is sure to be unpopular with constituents). This is not to discourage anyone from contacting their reps--PLEASE do! There is just very good reason to hope this will not become law.

for those who don’t remember, “mole interest” was an experiment I did 2 years ago because I wanted to test what causes tags to go trending on tumblr. My hypothesis was that all it takes is one (1) post blowing up in an established tag to make the entire tag trend.
I had randomly generated 2 words, which is where “mole interest” came from. I failed to consider that by generating a new tag, it wouldn’t have had enough posts already in it to prove what I now call “the mole interest effect”.
But now it does.
In 2023, we said “fuck it” a la mythbusters and ended up doing whatever it took to get #mole interest to trend. And it did. And it happened to be September 11th that day, and we managed to get #mole interest to trend ABOVE #9/11.
So, in the name of science, I ask you to reblog just this post. Let’s put the mole interest effect to the test.

got another code red moment for us... :/
Federal Register :: Request Access
please actually reblog this post this time, as this one will gut national parks for more fucking paper. we have 14 days to stop it, giving us literally no time to do so.
they are literally betting on us to not do anything about it, because they're that desperate on keeping control, and ruining lives for everyone, but themselves.
The proposed rule would rescind the 2001 Roadless Area Conservation Rule (2001 Roadless Rule) (66 FR 3244, 36 CFR Subpart B (2001)), which prohibits road construction, road reconstruction, and timber harvesting in inventoried roadless areas, with limited exceptions.
Took me five minutes.
Go do it.
This is sort of (absolutely and entirely) rant-y so feel free to ignore I just need to get this out of my system
I hate what this game has become and I hate the players that enable it to be as greedy as it wants to be by mindlessly shoveling large amounts of money into it when it's crystal clear that No. One. Gives. A. Fuck. Anymore.
It's just Keepsake Umbra Keepsake R6 or suffer Umbra Keepsake better save for Umbra have you heard they're totally busted at R6 Keepsake high reso buy the packs buy the pass
And
I'm tired.
They took the gacha out of their gacha game by introducing Umbra and the excitement of pulling is non-existent because with Keepsake Espers you gotta do it 8 times and if you're F2P you're most likely either getting a single copy at the very end or if you're really unlucky you don't get the limited unit at all and have to wait for them to be added to the scam shop of the scambra banner and watch your Nexus Crystals slowly disappear like my will to live or Brynn's role as the story's protagonist.
Also Meta Ollie is new worst meta design I'm sorry Yun Chuan I was too harsh on you and your skinned chicken looking dog
