It's the day after Squad Battles, and General Lilith Sorrengail trudges to her office, with coffee in hand. She freezes as she opens the door, before yelling down the hall;

"Who the FUCK stole my map?!"

Markam happens to be nearby, and approaches as he says, "That would be your daughter."

"Mira? Why would she steal the map?!"

"Not Mira. Violet. Squad battles. They won"

"... Huh. She makes me proud."

Arya came back grinning her horsey grin, her hair all tangled and her clothes covered in mud, clutching a raggedy bunch of purple and green flowers for Father. Sansa kept hoping he would tell Arya to behave herself and act like the highborn lady she was supposed to be, but he never did, he only hugged her and thanked her for the flowers. Lilith didn't want Violet to go into the Scribe Quadrant because she knew Violet would see through the lies too quickly and her bleeding heart would make her try and put a stop to them. She didn't hate the Scribes, she just wanted her daughter in a position to be strong enough to stand up and fight back

In Onyx Storm we see notes from Asher where he talks about how the only rider she can trust is Mira and to cut Dain out of her life if he goes into the Rider's Quadrant. But he left her just enough cryptic clues to get her killed by the Scribes without actually telling her anything solid.

He was playing some secret game of chess using his children as pawns, but he died before he established the rules of the game

There is a quality of books (or movies or shows) that I can best describe as “stickiness,” which is separate from being good or even enjoyable: a sticky book is one I just keep thinking about. Sometimes it’s because a book is very good (e.g. The Locked Tomb), and sometimes it’s because a book is very bad (e.g. ACOTAR), but there are also very good and very bad books that are slippery, such that when I’m done reading them they slip from my thoughts like water from a hydrophobic surface.

Me with Fourth Wing, honestly. Like there's so much more to explore??? I'd love to see a non-romance-focused story set in that world but Rebecca Yarros is a romance writer so my hopes aren't high for anything canon.

Just finished Onyx Storm and I got questions, man.

Leading one: Xaden has fucked off to who knows where, but what about Sgaeyl and Tairn? We know they can only be separated for a couple of days before they get cranky and pained. And rider and dragon can only be separated for short periods for the same reasons. So how will they handle that whole deal?
