On the days where you wake up past noon and you can’t get out of bed, when being awake hurts, and you feel like you’re held together by threds, remember that it’s going to be okay - but it dosnt have to be today. If you all you can do is get up, wash your face, and get something to eat, then that’s okay. now is not the time to push yourself too hard, it’s not sustainable. Getting better can be a slow process, just take it one step at a time.
How to help your autistic friends
Don’t make autistic screeching or “this thing is autistic” jokes ever.
Don’t assume our interests. Not all autistics are into minecraft and trains.
We are not Sheldon Cooper
Don’t make fun of us for stimming. We see you roll your eyes too.
Don’t get your information from autism speaks.
Don’t use the puzzle piece to support us.
Don’t make fun of our special interests.
If we ask for you to explain a joke, don’t laugh at us.
We don’t always understand sarcasm. Please be patient.
Social queues are tricky. Don’t make fun if us for getting it wrong, and if we upset you please just let us know because we won’t.
Instead of blue to support us, use red.
We can make strange sounds. Don’t mock them.
Contrary to popular belief, there are physical symptoms. Don’t call us gross for them (bad digestion and drooling mainly)
Crowd’s are evil.
Don’t doubt us.
Burnout is a real thing. Talking to people constantly or too many people can be incredibly tiring. It doesn’t mean we hate you or are bored of you we just.. get tired.
Feel free to add any

hot take: autistic people shouldn’t have to disclose that we’re autistic in order not to get mocked for our behaviour
what i mean is i’ve seen/experienced way too many times where someone’s being ridiculed over doing something harmless and when the people doing the mocking find out the person’s autistic they’re like ‘ooohhh…….. well i didnt know…’ and apologize. like? at that point it doesn’t even matter if the person is autistic or not, if you’re making fun of autistic behaviour you’re making fun of autistic people, period. either you’re an asshole or you’re not, and autistic people shouldn’t have to inform everyone that we’re autistic in order to get some sympathy and be allowed to exist as we are without getting made fun of

this one’s dragonfruit!!
You don’t get to hurt me and then critique how I express my pain
You don’t get to lie to me and decide when I should trust you again
You don’t get to take advantage of my forgiveness and then act entitled when I stop giving it.
You don’t get to abuse my friendship and get angry when I cut you off.
You don’t own me and you can’t control me.

me: (isnt being shown constant love and affection by a specific person) me: they hate me
Just so people know, I looked at the source and the sister was in a very bad car accident and these gifts are likely her way of dealing with her trauma.
honestly…. the fact that they didn’t include this in the original post fucking sucks. but also… i know these gifts may seem “creepy,” but they’re all really practical (well, aside from the book) and show that she clearly cares about the safety of her loved ones.
This makes me wonder how people view trauma. You see a lot assholes online of shitting on “sjws” for being triggered and not having ~real~ PTSD, but things like this make me wonder if people simply have no idea how to recognize PTSD when it’s not people freaking out over a loud noise.
