Yesterday I pretty much shut out the world all day (including skipping class, oops) because I was feeling just like....drained. And not like, tired or depressed or anything. Just drained in an almost-spiritual way, and way too empathetic and sensitive to be around other people. So I cut pretty much everyone out all day, and when I did go out (to go to work), I added Jade to my normal crystal cocktail that I carry, and I think I feel better today? I’m not 100% sure, because this has never happened to me before, but I think so. I’ve never felt so like...depleted of my spiritual energy and full of others’ energies that I literally shut down before. I think a lot of it had to do with starting my day talking about emotional abuse and remembering all the times I’ve experienced the warning signs I was writing about, and that strange almost-bitter feeling of like... Why didn’t anyone warn me, I think. Like. I know it’s useless to be angry about it, especially so many years later, when there are much more productive things I could be feeling and doing. But a little part of me still gets angry and bitter whenever I talk about emotional abuse, and I think starting my morning out with that very long and intense conversation kinda set me off on a bad note. I don’t know. I feel strange today but not necessarily in a bad way.

I did a ~daily draw~ from my oracle cards and got a card about women and wealth (lol). Basically the idea is that either you yourself will come into wealth (financially or health-wise), or you’ll be introduced to someone who will help you facilitate that. I don’t know how I feel about it. I’ve been drawing cards every day about growth and abundance and stuff, though, so I’m taking that as a good sign?

hi so there’s a hashtag on twitter right now dedicated to signs/stories of emotional abuse (#MaybeHeDoesntHitYou). emotional abuse was a huge part of my early teenage years and i realized while adding to/reading the hashtag that knowing early signs and manifestations is the best way to keep yourself safe, but most women don’t know them (which is what abusers count on so they can keep being abusive). 

in the interest of sharing those signs and manifestations with other women, i created a thread on twitter of warning signs of emotional abuse, including examples and manifestations. if it’s safe for you to do so, please read that thread and the MaybeHeDoesntHitYou hashtag, because emotional abuse is designed to be subtle and silent, and knowing the signs is the only way to keep yourself safe. also feel free to contribute to the thread by replying to the main tweet (linked) with other warning signs/examples/etc. obviously there’s a possible trigger warning here for descriptions of abusive partners.

Attack on Canada's only surgery clinic for trans people elicits 'zero reaction'

Last Monday, an arsonist attacked Canada's only sex reassignment surgery provider, and no one is talking about it.

On the evening of Monday May 2, Canada’s only sex reassignment surgery clinic was subject to an arson attack. A man, armed with a machete, axe and gas can, set fire to the operating room.

Constable Abdullah Emran of the Montreal police has stated they are treating the incident as a potential hate crime “because this is the only clinic that does [gender confirmation surgery], but at this point we have nothing that confirms it is related to that.”

Press were remarkably slow to respond, with reporting coming in late and often with no mention of the work the clinic does. Social media has also been slow on the uptake with its reaction to this crime.

The Centre Métropolitain de Chirurgie in Montréal offers sex reassignment surgeries, more often called gender confirmation surgery, to transgender Canadians. The arson attack caused an estimated $700,000 worth of damage and put the clinic temporarily out of action.

In a statement, the clinic said they were “forced to cancel surgeries scheduled between Tuesday, May 3, and Friday, May 6, 2016.” Other surgeries are currently being performed at an alternate location. Although the damage isn’t permanent, it is yet to be determined when the clinic will reopen.

For many gender confirmation procedures, the Centre Métropolitain de Chirurgie is the only clinic in Canada that accepts patients referred by provincial health-care programs. Sex reassignment surgeries are at least partially funded by eight of Canada’s provinces, although not all of these provinces cover all types of gender confirmation procedures.

The Montréal clinic is the only clinic in Canada that provides both male-to-female and female-to-male gender confirmation surgery. Trans people travel from both Canada and the U.S. for surgery at the clinic.

Police: is this a hate crime? We don’t know. Maybe he got lost on the way to a really hardcore LARP. Maybe he was trying to donate his axes and gasoline to the clinic but accidentally set fire to it instead. There’s just no way to tell
