btw while sometimes it's sad and draining when people are homophobic towards me at my job (i am, to put it quite simply, visibly gay and i work at [COSMETICS PLACE]), the absolute saddest thing that's happened to me a couple times is a young kid being interested in something and the parent telling them the product/store isn't for them because "it's for girls."

i can't imagine being so hateful towards your own young child i can't imagine what that's doing to their sense of self. like i'm a whole grown adult when you're making fun of me i can cope with it but this kid that you chose to raise needs your support and you're cutting them off before they have a chance to know who they are
