The worst part of grinding out prime relics is also grinding out the void traces so you can max them out
tbh Relic grinds are probably one of the worse grinds in the game and that is 400% by design
This is interesting because there's a sort of curve to it, and it's the worst in the beginning. When you're new, it's almost unfeasible to go after one item in particular; I just opened whatever relics I had in public lobbies and then clicked whatever reward I didn't already have for a long long time.
But now that I already have most of the prime stuff (that wasn't already vaulted by the time I started playing), I crack relics to relax. When a prime access happens, I'm capable of getting the frame and at least one of the weapons in, like, an afternoon. These days, I have to hunt for stuff to spend my excess void traces on; this also contributes to that curve I mentioned because opening Radiant Relics gives more void traces. Eventually, you build up a sort of bank of 'em that can't be properly represented by the actual traces in your storage. I suppose you could say that it has a natural acceleration; each void trace that you inject into your loop raises the average number of traces that you get from cracking a relic. Just... by a really really small amount.
Now that I think of it, ESO might represent a nontrivial accelerant towards that feedback loop, because you often get Radiant Relics in the rewards.
Idk I'm not here to invalidate anyone's experience, but if a reassurance that it gets better is worth anything, there you go.
Oh and for the record, if the devs wanted to design a bad grind, they wouldn't have let you pick your teammates' rewards. Speaking of: Radshare! Most of the in-game chats are terrible and you should never touch them, but Recruiting in particular is fantastic for finding teams of people who want to run the same relic. For one that isn't vaulted and especially one that's relatively new, you'll find a team in like thirty seconds.
I could . not. put. this down for 48 hours - stayed up too late, had weird dreams about it, woke up early, and played it while I was supposed to be doing other things. the last several dozen items took a lot of googling, which I do not even begrudge it.
and then. My partner started it. And the SAME THING happened to him.
surprisingly compelling. start when you have free time. like, yanno, a snow day.
oh my god, if you are the kind of person who gets sucked into logic puzzles, do not click that link if you have to do anything/go to sleep in the next couple hours
I was disappointed there weren't more levels, so I made them! The creator's code was under CC Share Alike, so I moved a copy to my website, rustled up 40 new categories, and added buttons so you can generate smaller puzzles!
“only trans girls are eggs” “trans men can’t say tranny” “afab intersex people who consider themselves transfem are stealing the transfem experience from real trans women” “every tme person is inherently a threat to you” “t4t is really only for the girls” “leave your tme partner now before it’s too late. even if you think they’re safe now” “18 year old trans girl. take my hand. become a misandrist with me”
and other vaguely worrying statements from your followers! buy now for the low low price of lowkey committing epistemicide in queer communities and further fracturing a group of people who already can’t agree on fuckin shit
apparently it has been too long since i've emptied the rent lowering magazine so i want to be clear i think all the quoted statements in the above post are incredibly asinine and actively hurt the queer community more than they benefit it and if i find you repeating any of these things i'm just going to block you. i have a life outside of meaningless discourse where we erase the struggles of people different than us and i do not care enough to entertain that shit. knock it off
🍖 How to Build a Culture Without Just Inventing Spices and Necklaces
(a worldbuilding roast. with love.)
So. You’re building a fantasy world, and you’ve just invented:
→ Three types of ceremonial jewelry
→ A spice that tastes like cinnamon if it were bitter and cursed
→ A holiday where everyone wears gold and screams at dawn
Cute. But that’s not culture. That’s aesthetics.
And if your worldbuilding is all outfits, dances, and spice blends with vaguely mystical names, your story’s probably going to feel like a cosplay convention held inside a Pinterest board.
Here’s how to fix that—aka: how to build a real, functioning culture that shapes your story, not just its vibes.
─────── ✦ ───────
🔗 Culture Is Built on Power, Not Just Style
Ask yourself:
→ Who’s in charge, and why?
→ Who has land? Who doesn’t?
→ What’s considered taboo, sacred, or punishable by death?
Culture is shaped by who gets to make the rules and who gets crushed by them. That’s where things like religion, family structure, class divisions, gender roles, and social expectations actually come from.
Start there. Not at the embroidery.
─────── ✦ ───────
2.🪓 Culture Comes From Conflict
Did this society evolve peacefully? Was it colonized? Did it colonize? Was it rebuilt after a war? Is it still in one?
→ What was destroyed and mythologized?
→ What do the survivors still whisper about?
→ What do children get taught in school that’s… suspiciously sanitized?
No culture is neutral. Every tradition has a history, and that history should taste like blood, loss, or propaganda.
─────── ✦ ───────
3.🧠 Belief Systems > Customs Lists
Sure, rituals and holidays are cool. But what do people believe about:
→ Death?
→ Love?
→ Time?
→ The natural world?
→ Justice?
Example: A society that believes time is cyclical vs. one that sees time as linear will approach everything—from prison sentences to grief—completely differently.
You don’t need to invent 80 gods. You need to know what those gods mean to the people who pray to them.
─────── ✦ ───────
4.🫀 Culture Controls Behavior (Quietly)
Culture shows up in:
→ What people apologize for
→ What insults cut deepest
→ What people are embarrassed about
→ What’s praised publicly vs. what’s hidden privately
For instance:
→ A culture obsessed with stoicism won’t say “I love you.” They’ll say “Have you eaten?”
→ A culture built on legacy might prioritize ancestor veneration, archival writing, name inheritance.
This stuff? Way more immersive than giving everyone matching earrings.
─────── ✦ ───────
5. 🏠 Culture = Daily Life, Not Just Festivals
Sure, your MC might attend a funeral where people paint their faces blue. But what about:
→ Breakfast routines?
→ How people greet each other on the street?
→ Who cooks, and who eats first?
→ What’s considered “clean” or “proper”?
→ How is parenting handled? Divorce?
Culture is what happens between plot points. It should shape your character’s assumptions, language, fears, and habits—whether or not a festival is going on.
─────── ✦ ───────
6. 💬 Let Your Characters Disagree With Their Own Culture
A culture isn’t a monolith.
Even in deeply traditional societies, people:
→ Rebel
→ Question
→ Break rules
→ Misinterpret laws
→ Mock sacred things
→ Act hypocritically
→ Weaponize or resist what’s expected
Let your characters wrestle with the culture around them. That’s where realism (and tension) lives.
─────── ✦ ───────
7.🧼 Beware the “Pretty = Good” Trap
Worldbuilding gets boring fast when:
→ The protagonist’s homeland is beautiful and pure
→ The enemy’s culture is dark and “barbaric”
→ Every detail just reinforces who the reader should like
You can—and should—challenge the aesthetic hierarchy.
→ Let ugly things be beloved.
→ Let beautiful things be corrupt.
→ Let your MC romanticize their culture and then get disillusioned by it later.
─────── ✦ ───────
📍 TL;DR (but like, spicy):
→ Culture is not food and jewelry.
→ Culture is power, fear, memory, contradiction.
→ Stop inventing spices until you know who starved last winter.
→ Let your world feel lived in, not curated.
The best cultural worldbuilding doesn’t look like a list.
It feels like a system. A pressure. A presence your characters can’t escape—even if they try.
Now go. Build something real. (You can add spices later.)

firefox just started doing this too so remember kids if you want to stream things like netflix or hulu over discord without the video being blacked out you just have to disable hardware acceleration in your browser settings!
Since I'm looking at the comments and seeing a lot of people asking what hardware acceleration is and getting wildly incorrect answers, here you go. This is what hardware acceleration is. It's not DRM, and it's not placing a limit on memory usage (unless you have weird definitions for both "memory" and "placing a limit").
This is what hardware acceleration is:
"Do you just have a graphic for this on hand at all times?"
There's only one thing I can think of that would prompt anyone to create a 17-tone equal temperament and it would be a veneration of prime numbers.
...sry I have no background to what's going on here lol sometimes a set of words hits my autism just right to render me incapable of keeping my mouth shut
Actually, you might be on to something here, 17 being the smallest prime that has a resonable approximation of the perfect 5th. But then, why not go for 19, which is also prime but has better harmonic ratios?
Idk if you're working with a different species or anything, but anecdotally, 24 would be about the limit of the human ear beyond which further subdivision (in regards to the chromatic; some real human scales have tones that wouldn't fall exactly on the 24 or even the 48) would hardly be worth the effort. Maybe 19 is just pushing it too hard?
Or hey, maybe they use both regularly. 17 and 19 us about where one starts to think "hmmmm, these primes do seem to be coming in pairs..."
Again I have no context for what you're working with lmao

Sound design will always be my favorite aspect of a film/game especially if it has to do with horror. There is soooo much you can do with it, I’ve been dreaming of incorporating sound into my creature designs since I was little.
“Unless you are following the dialogue with an action and not a dialogue tag.” He took a deep breath and sat back down after making the clarifying statement.
“And–” she waved a pen as though to underline her statement–“if you’re interrupting a sentence with an action, you need to type two hyphens to make an en-dash.”
“The speech tag is still part of the previous sentence,” she explained, ‘so it isn’t capitalised.“
“What do you mean?” he asked. “But there’s a full stop as part of the question mark!”
She nodded gravely. “I know!” she said. “A lot of people find this confusing. But the speech tag belongs to the line of dialogue, it’s still part of the sentence, so it’s wrong to capitalise it.”
She reblogged the post again, because she had recently read far too many potentially enjoyable stories marred by poor dialogue punctuation.
“There are two more ways"—she pointed to the blackboard—“to punctuate interruptions. One is with the em dashes outside the quotations marks to indicate continuous speech. The action occurs at the same time as speech. The other—” she sipped from a glass of water “—is em dashes within the quotation marks to indicate interrupted speech.”
Thank you, because having more than one way to interrupt dialogue is not confusing at all lol (I’ve only seen em dashes inside quotations, the other way hurts my brain—I prefer commas).
It's really interesting being a person who, never having seen these rules explicated in writing or considering that such a resource should exist somewhere, has been operating on pure instinct this whole time. Thinking back, Thinking back, I feel I've done a pretty good job keeping to them just based on "hmm, that doesn't look... quite right."
I say all this not to brag, but to provide context for why I am now
The reason that fight is so much harder than it was before is that they recently made changes to Valkyr, so now she has incredibly high base armor and one of her abilities gives her even more. It's great for when you're playing as her, not so great when you're trying to fight her with a skana lol
