Dear Pets
I’m so sorry I woke you up you were just so still and I though you were dead please forgive me
friendly reminder that pets’ bodies do not handle fat the same way human bodies do. obesity in animals often greatly reduces their life span. also, body positivity does not to apply to your pets, so discussing the dangers of them being obese is not “body shaming” them
if you have a pet that is morbidly obese due to overfeeding, you are actively participating in animal neglect at best by failing to provide them with the appropriate diet
stop acting like concern over an animal’s obesity is in any way similar to body shaming humans
Also check with your vet about your pet’s weight. Most people have a really skewed perception of a healthy weight because so many dogs and cats are underweight. Don’t assume just because your vet hasn’t said anything that you’re all good. Start the conversation about your pet’s diet.
I actually have found it to be the opposite. People have a skewed perception of a healthy weight because so many pets are OVERweight. Sooooo many people have thought dogs that are a normal weight are starving or something because they don’t know what a healthy, fit dog looks like.
Yes. It is well accepted that over 50% of dogs and cats in the US are overweight or obese. The scariest part is that one survey found that about 90% of owners of overweight pets think that their pet is a normal weight (https://petobesityprevention.org/2014).
Something in the wind has changed–it calls you by a different name.
What’s your favorite comment anyone’s ever made about your dog. Share those testimonials
Darcy’s nosework trainer calls him a “brilliant boy” and it makes me shine inside
Our vet asked “how often do you brush your dog? 3 times a day? Her fur is amazing!”
Someone asked if she was a pygmy goat
that’s amazing. i’m cracking up.
I’m trying to think of any, but really I usually just get “he is very beautiful” or “he’s so soft!”
the best comment was a gesture not a verbal comment?? i was at the pet store training and put koji in a sit stay while i paid and there was an old man behind me who was watching. he glanced at me, looked at the dog in the aisle a few over who was barking and excited, looked back at me and nodded at us and gave me a thumbs up. it made me feel warm and fuzzy. not thag the poor golden puppy was being a total menace, he was just excited, but you feel.
I had a kid across a parking lot tell their parents about "that sheep" I were handling (well, I put a sweater on him). Poor kid has probably never met a sheep because that puppy was probably at 8kg back then.
Oh and this morning I had a guy across from me wiggle his fingers in a "discreet" gesture to get said pup interested in greeting him. Pup held his down-stay, although kept looking at the guy. He gave up quite fast and walked away
Field trip to the mall today, little man was a little tired after yesterday's group walk and puppy class and had a hard time focusing fully, but worked fantastically otherwise.
God I love this dog.
The perfect snoot.

So, I uh…read the Wiki for this dog and uhh…
“It is described as a very versatile yet contradictory dog, being both good with children and “fit to kill any other dog of his weight”
FIT TO KILL
It’s a Bedlington terrior btw, but that kind of takes away from the cryptid nature of it.
Also you guys are missing the best angle
Bedlington Terror
Why do they give them that haircut though? 😂
I don’t know where the haircut originated from or it’s purpose, but there are still working-bred Bedlingtons out in the field today! Bit of a different looking animal to the lamb dogs in the show ring.
Conspiracy theory: Willow’s back legs never touch the ground?
I thought spaniels were graceful and deft, because my first cocker was. I now realize he was merely an aberration.
