Further revisions to sorXa's axe (Tuireann)

Building on the design work in this post, I decided to finally - years later - nail down sorXa's axe. It's now a vibro-axe that can coat its blade in red ether, essentially taking on the role of the now-scrapped Díoltach (scrapped because it felt too redundant with her axe and longsword, and I don't want to have to make too many weapon movesets) as a weapon that can either be a longer-reach two-handed alternative to the one-handed sword or, in its overdrive mode (what I've tentatively decided to call the ether-based high-power modes of sorXa's weapons, à la MMZX), a high-knockback weapon that can push enemies away (and potentially slam them into hazards or each other). Also like the older axe designs, it has a red ether-based propulsion system on the back of the head for nice meaty swings. Maybe it can be charged without going into overdrive...? Much to think about.

Design A, as sexy as it is (and also based on historical Irish axes, like the final design), doesn't really fit with sorXa's design language - she's more about curves and waves and circles, not so much straight lines like that (not that her designs lack those, of course, but when the choice presents itself, the curve makes more sense).

As for the name, it's due to a slightly conjectural equivalence between two Irish mythological figures, as presented in this Instagram post I found while desperately looking for anything to do with axes in Irish myth. The short of it is that some sources list Giobhniu's father as Tuireann (who was also father of a bunch of other figures such as Brigid), while others list him as Tuirbe Trágmar (lit. "thrower of axes", on account of the axe he throws to control the tides), so it's not unreasonable to assume these might be the same individual, thereby making Tuireann associated with axes and a potential namesake for her axe.

Wake up babe, new sorXa weapon just dropped

I had a hankering to give her a greatsword, so I gave her a greatsword. As one does. You understand.

Most of sorXa's weapons use gold ether (which can essentially transmute matter to ether or energy, or vice versa) instead of red ether, but I thought having it become coated in red ether would be a fun way to distinguish it from her arming sword that turns into an ether beam longsword. Some of sorXa's weapons are named for weapons named in Irish myth (and, failing that, are at least based on Irish weapons in general), such as her arming sword/longsword hybrid Claíomh Solais, her spear Gáe Bulg, her pollaxe having an Irish-styled axe blade, and her dagger being based on a scian fada - with that in mind, I decided to take inspiration for her sword from Díoltach, which in one story was used to execute three brothers with a single stroke such that they wouldn't have to watch each other die, since that seemed fitting for a big ol' cut-centric sword. As such, its tip is flattened like an executioner's sword (though it's, uh, not exactly proportioned like one otherwise). Before deciding on Díoltach as its inspiration and namesake, though, I'd already decided I wanted its hilt to at least in part be based on the Monasterevin sword, since I think it looks sick as hell (and wouldn't just be "feathered quillons and ring pommel" again like her Claíomh Solais), though I walked that back a bit from the original idea since I couldn't get the quillons to read as sci-fi like that. While iterating upon the design, I hit upon the idea to pay homage to an oooooooold OC of mine named Azriel, a grim reaper-themed robot who wielded an impractically chunky greatsword that he could cover in flames - so I decided that the weapon's gimmick would be that it could be cloaked in a field of red ether (like what's used in sorXa's armor), essentially turning it into a giant club that repels whatever it hits. (I still haven't 100% settled on how red ether works - or blue ether, for that matter - but I figure I have enough of an idea that I can go ahead and weaponize it here.) I figure this could also come in handy when, say, parrying blows, which would fit in with its name being "Retaliator"/"Avenger". The little design on the tip of the blade and on the smaller lobe of the pommel, by the way, comes from Azriel's design - that was a repeated motif across both his armor (body?) and sword. The quillons are a bit short as greatswords go, but I didn't want them to cover up too much of the blade. Maybe the white bits at the tip could extend when they unfold, making them longer? That could be cool... Hmm. Much to think about.
