In the final scenes, Elaine confronts Robert with what she now knows as truth - he was driving the car. Robert protests/denies until he no longer can because of his bruise. Robert profusely apologizes and is even willing to go to the police but the damage is done. Elaine wants nothing to do with Robert (‘don’t touch me, don’t come near me ever again!’).

Robert fobs off Elaine as he’s busy at the garage and her car is gonna be taken by a scrapper. Still, Elaine shows up at the garage and Robert tried very hard to get her to leave, the sooner the better. Elaine sits herself in the car and tries to iron things out with her memory (why no seatbelt) only agitating Robert but she finally leaves…

Elaine shows up at Robert’s still needing answers (it’s doing her head in) and ‘stuff about the crash just isn’t adding up’ especially why there’s no bruise from the steering wheel? The two wind up in Robert’s room where they finally do the deed. In the afterglow, Elaine is back to talking about the crash and wanting to see Robert’s bruise. Perfect time for Robert to leave the room for more drinks.
