Embrace Karl!Robert…
Scabs that are hard to remove…
Pretty much Robert’s life unfortunately… sigh.
Then 😔…
Later …
Would it have made any difference later on? Doubt it… same result.
Robert Sugden: Karl Davies (2002)
We SEE you and are PROUD of ya…
Then…
Later…
Cos I’m not like you and Andy. Because I hate farming. Because I feel like a disappointment to you. 😭 (2 of 2)
We come to the focal point of the episode as, after more sniping between the boys, the Sugdens rip themselves apart as Robert lets it all out: his doubts about Sarah loving him because she didn’t fight for him like she did Victoria, being kept in the dark about the real circumstances of Sarah’s death, always feeling like an outsider, feeling like a disappointment to Jack 😭, etc. In the end, the three of them hug and look toward a fresh start. This was the first time I felt like there was a connection to Christopher!Robert’s version and of course Ryan!Robert’s version is shining here as well. They are all existing in these scenes at long last.

Andy, Andy, Andy… What about me?😭
That’s because you’re always bothered about everything else, aren’t ya. About your farm… about Andy… about your phone mast. But never about me, dad. NEVER ABOUT ME! (Gifs 3 of 4)

You don’t get it do ya, Andy? This is all YOUR fault. You’re not part of this family and you’ve never have been. We’re just the mugs that got lumbered with ya. (1 of 2)
Quite a powerhouse episode for the Sugdens. Jack did not come home and the boys really starting to worry but continue to snipe at each other left and right (Robert’s seeing it as Jack trying to ‘wind’ him up). Robert goes goes to Diane (who blasts him big time) for help in finding Jack (‘he’s gone walkabout’). First ever scene between Robert and Bernice. On a hunch, the boys find Jack at the farmhouse in bad shape and just wanting to be left alone but the boys persuade Jack to return home as Robert profusely apologizes to him. Back home, Jack asks Diane to pick up Victoria and keep her with her as it’s time for him and boys to airs things out. Gifs will be posted separately.
