This episode is a true heartbreaker. Not only do we have Chimney desperately trying to figure out what happened with Maddie, but also the big travesty surrounding Makayla & Cassie and their parents.

Okay but it's actually so fucking sad that Buck doesn't see anything wrong with Maddie just up and leaving. That, to him, this is normal. It's okay. It's fine. This is just what Maddie does. She leaves to escape her problems, but then she comes back.

He's trying to get that point across to Chimney, but Buck just doesn't understand why Chimney can't see that. To him, this is normal.

Maddie leaves. He gets left behind. But then she comes back.

Now it's happening to Chimney. But there's nothing to be worried about, Chimney. She'll come back home and it'll all be fine.

Just give her time, and she will come home. It's normal.

... Right?

Maddie isolates herself because she thinks it's the right thing to do. Buck can't see anything wrong with it, because getting left behind is what he knows.
