I don’t think we, the Assassin’s Creed fandom, ever think about the horror element of being an NPC in one of these games. The Assassins in action would be genuinely terrifying to behold.
One second this person was walking next to you tipping a news boy and the next they’re ripping a well dressed man off a moving horse, a flash of metal out of—dear gods is that their sleeve!? And you can never see their faces but they’re always dressed just similarly enough to you that their appearance puts you at ease. You could’ve sworn they knocked tiles off your roof the night before. Your drunk friend says they saw one dive from the top of a church with zero consequence. Bombs and blades and arrows and guns seemingly pour from these people and it’s only for a few seconds and there’s no explanation.
I just think we need to consider that Assassinations are supposed to be so quick and so stealthy that their very actions render them cryptids to the innocents they protect.
