Who's this Silmarillion character?
Curumo/Saruman
Beren
Aiwendil/Radagast
Húrin
Olórin/Gandalf
(All art used with EXPRESS permission from the artist)
@ainurweek Day Two: Aiwendil
I spent a very long time thinking about the design of the Maia that would eventually enter Middle Earth as Radagast. I ended up going with a nature/fairy aesthetic since he was one of the people of Yavanna. I don't know if I was as successful as I wanted. But, it exists and he has a bird.
I made simple sketches of Ainu for a larger art I have in mind, so I didn't have to worry about their appearance in the moment, and I decided to share them with you💥
Maiar Comic Headshots
Do we like this version with the Istari having beards?
Or this one? Without beards...
Also... yes... I know I included Langon and his status is debatable... and Gothmog because balrogs are fallen Maiar.
The only named Aule’s Maiar are Sauron and Saruman, and Yavanna’s are Radagast and Melian.
Her pupils are Disney princesses, and his are literally devils...
Aulë: How did you even get in here?
Aiwendil: Mairon’s window! Or, as I like to call it, "Melkor’s door"!
Aulë: I’m closing the window.
Hey all! It’s Day 2 of Ainur Week! Today, we’re appreciating some of the Ainur’s expert creators and crafters: Aulë, Yavanna, Curumo, and Aiwendil. The general prompts are creation, curiosity, and the Ainur’s relationship with Dwarves. As always, all prompts are optional. Can’t wait to see your work!
Side note, I love this behind the scenes photo of Christopher Lee as Saruman/ Curumo so much. Holding that palantír so dramatically. 🔮
