Star Wars Legends canon was WAY TOO forgiving towards the galactic empire.

Seriously!

Idk where or when this started but it was practically endemic by 2012. (And I will NOT blame Timothy Zahn!)

I’m saying this as someone who grew up with the Legends stuff and enjoyed quite a bit of it.

It at least explains some of the excessive Empire apologism in the fandom we see today, I mean Jesus Christ it’s almost reaching “Clean Wehrmacht” levels of whitewashing. (I’ve spoken about this before)

(I study history so this stuff sticks out to me)

But still.

No I’m not saying it makes fans of that stuff evil! No. Again, a lot of the legends stories are very dear to me.

I refer to fans unironically trying to justify the empire’s brutality, the Death Star, Palpatine’s fuckery and so on.

It just stuck out to me.

Always did.

(And I know I’m not the only one who thinks this!)

Bellatrix’s fans don’t love her character because she’s good lmao they love her because she’s a psychopath and they enjoy seeing her torturing people. Technically they are apologists too but no one call them out for their apologism.

People are allowed to love and even praise fictional bullies and murderers.

How does the fandom make Revolver OOC? I haven’t read much about the Vrains fandom so I am curious. Sorry.

Preface, DSS’ers aren’t even close to the only people who make Revolver ooc. In fact, there ARE some DSS’ers that write Revolver very in character! Unfortunately some do that and then make Yuusaku ooc oops

A very common trope with conventionally attractive villian characters is Draco In Leather Pants. Despite the fact that Revolver is canonically a cyber terrorist, infected Blue Angel, Go’s friends, and other people with the coma-inducing viruses, and was generally a nasty person, people write him as a gentler or seductive person. It’s easier to turn the blame on a character you don’t like (SB is a great scapegoat but people also blame Akira [some reason] or Aoi) than blame your favourite.

I’ve seen Revo ooc for things by himself, with DSS, with him n Aoi, and even ones with good ol Spectre. It’s absolutely baffling that people think they coudln’t possibly write a villain as… well… a villain
