I'm just thinking of the logistics of pretty much everything disappearing and the last tree dying...

Do you think Simon had scurvy? Well... Everyone really, but still.

There is an astronomically small chance that the survivors are getting fresh fruit and vegetables every day. Add onto that fact that Simon was a convicted criminal and would not get the same quality of care as the average citizen.

So... Scurvy.

Also, fun fact, one of the symptoms for scurvy can include irritability!

My third generation heir, Jasper, is off fighting in the war. His son, my fourth generation heir, has been effectively orphaned, and he's the only remaining survivor out of his siblings. His uncle River, who is a "man of the sea", just showed up to take Jasper with him. Very Treasure Island-like. :3

Now, we're going to fill in their character sheets. As I mentioned in a previous article, I am not rolling for these characters stats. While that is an entirely feasible method of character creation in Dungeons and Dragons, if you plan to roll your stats, it is advisable to do that at the beginning of the character creation. That way, your Ability Scores can inform your choice of Class. We've simply reversed the situation for a change of pace...

I write a bit of a thing at Your Nerd Is Showing on the subject of making your gaming a bit more random.  Right now, we’re in the process of building a campaign, party and all from scratch in such a way as to keep the world and its contents unique without hobbling them mechanically.  This week, we finish up Merric Gallowstree’s character sheet and get a glimpse as to just what secrets our Halfling Warlock Hermit might be hiding.
