Because making a Trollsona/OC is the fun thing to do, so I followed suit and tweaked my demonic-alter Askara. She’s an ex-changeling, of course. Ex, because once she fell out of line, Gunmar ate her familiar out of spite.
She’s quite old. One of the first changelings made from a race of troll long forgotten. They were hit hard by the Gum-gums for their use of magic, flight, and agility. Their young were stolen, and those who survived used their magic to hide themselves away. Not even Askara knows were her kin hid themselves, or if they still exist at all. Askara was old enough to remember her people and what had been done to her. She fell in line for a while, doing what was expected of her to survive, living her human lives, and even coming to care deeply for her changeling brothers and sisters - but once she realized that they were nothing more than tools and, that despite the promises, her kind would never have a place in this world even under Gunmar’s reign - she turned against him and went her own way. Unfortunately, her Changeling kin turned against her, too, and so she was hunted.
(bioluminescence, which she can turn on and off for stealth purposes. Or it happens when she gets mad or feeling any strong feeling.)
Askara loves the surface world. As a changeling, she is one of the few troll species (along with the Stalkling) that is immune to the effects of sunlight. This, coupled with her ability to fly, made it easy for her to elude her pursuers even with the loss of her human form. She made for the deep wilds and tundras of North America, in the expanses known as Alaska and Canada. A low human population made it easy for her to hide and near impossible for changelings to sneak up to her in their human forms. Eventually, she ingratiates herself into Inuit and fringe troll societies - helping their people in various ways whether is be physically saving them out in the wilds or helping to procure food. The Inuit are perfect companions. Wary of outsiders, lack of communication to the outside world, and any mention of Askara would be waved off as native superstition. She does travel a lot (there’s a good chance she’s even weaseled her way into Troll Market. She and Vendel would have a lot to talk about and would gladly tell him what she knows) but likes to spend most of her time with them. It’s safe for her there. She even lets the children paint on her, as depicted below. ( They like to make her wings look like the night sky)
Maybe she even sets up a tentative trade between the human and northern trolls. It would be something she’d (at least try) to do.
She is generally kind-hearted, though wary and fierce when it comes protecting her loved ones. Her preferred weapon is a bow - close combat is risky and not very much fun when you have as many vulnerable limbs as she does. She has managed to use her magic in such as way that she has become a sort of “changeling vampire”. One fatal hit with an enchanted arrow and a changeling’s connection to their familiar become’s Askara’s. The energy she steals is then stored in an amulet she wears around her neck. Even with the death of their familiar, a changeling’s connection remains, so Askara can leech another changeling’s ability to shift, albiet finitely, and temporarily return to her human form if she desires. She doesn’t actively hunt other changelings, but she won’t hesitate to put down those who come after her and try to kill her. She gladly uses their potential for her own desires.
That said, she would, without question, help someone like Stricklander if she came across him, (Post S1 - I imagine if word got out that he willingly gave the Trollhunter Gunmar’s eye, the Janus order would not take kindly to that. If he was ever pursued, she’d defend him. Maybe they even know each other from before she turned on Gunmar. Who knows. ) She would definitely be very intrigued by a human Trollhunter should she hear about it, and go out of her way to help him, especially if it was to take on Gunmar.
She loves the surface world, she wants everyone to get along, but won’t hesitate to fuck shit up if she needs to.
Oh - She does wear clothes. My only concern was getting her base design down. This traditional-to-digital approach isn’t friendly to tweaking.
This was just for fun and put together on a whim, so bear with any strangeness/discrepancies.
Now I have to go back to being an adult. :|
