Hello friend just wanted to sneak in your inbox to propose a thought:
You wake up and Perpetua is at the foot of your bed in one of his little creature poses. He's so embarrassed you caught him watching you sleep he just gives you one of his terrifying smiles and you scream. Then he feels bad cause of course you probably think hes a monster and are scared of him, but to his shock you laugh and tell him to come closer. And he snuggles into your arms and tries not to go feral with happiness 👀😆
I love this thought, so don't mind me doing this (with a slight modification):
A streak of moonlight shone through the small gap in your curtains, a warm summer breeze blowing through the window you made sure was closed before you went to bed. The light danced around your room through the billowing curtains, and the only sound that accompanied the rustling fabric was your soft breathing as you slept. With a strong gust of wind, your whole room was painted in a soft glow as the curtains parted away from the window. Once shrouded in darkness, the moonlight now exposed a figure sitting at the foot of your bed, and it had a single white eye glowing even brighter than the moon outside.
Perpetua was crouched at your feet, knees close to his chest as he sat stock still. The sheer weight of him sitting at your bed should have woken you up, but after doing this so many times he was well practiced in not disturbing your sleep. His wings and tail were tightly folded against his body, while his clawed fingers gently rested atop his knees. He watched the moonlight dance across your skin and noted how beautiful you looked. His focus started to shift further towards you, but further away from his focus on remaining silent. A deep. rumbling purr escaped his throat as he watched your chest rise and fall, and it caused you to stir. He froze, holding his breath as he watched your next move. To his horror— you woke up. You slowly blinked awake, thinking you heard something in your room. You gained just enough consciousness to register that there was an unfamiliar weight on your bed, so you sat up and took in your surroundings as your eyes adjusted to the darkness.
There was a large figure at the foot of your bed, and your blood ran cold. Perpetua could hear your heart begin to pound in your chest and he could smell the sweat beading on your skin. He began to panic, unsure how to soothe you without scaring you in this state. Human speech failed him, and all he could think to do was to smile. To you though, shining in the darkness was a sinister grin full of razor sharp fangs. You let out a bloodcurdling scream as you frantically began putting as much distance between you and the shadowy figure as you could until your back hit the wall, tangling yourself in your blankets. Your scream scared Perpetua though, causing him to flinch. His movement combined with yours knocked him off his delicate balancing act and he fell backwards off the bed, hitting the ground with a heavy thud. "Fuck!" he cursed in pain, his voice a bit raspier than normal.
You froze, recognizing the voice that came from the figure. "Perpetua?" you asked cautiously, eyes darting around to find the easiest exit plan if you were wrong. He groaned as he held his head, already feeling a bump forming. You breath a heavy sigh of relief as you clutch your chest, it was definitely him. "Satan below, V! You scared the shit out of me! What are you doing? And what the hell are you wearing?" Your scolding and questioning came out much harsher than you intended, but you weren't very fond of being pranked while you slept. Perpetua sunk lower to the floor to hide himself, shame rapidly creeping in and making a home in his chest. You turned on the lamp on your bedside table and crawled your way to the foot of your bed, huffing. "I'm not in the mood for jokes, seriously—" You gasped as you were met with dark, leathery wings shrouding Perpetua's back. He slowly lifted his head to look up at you, his eyes meeting yours behind his signature mask. You took in every detail, from his pointed ears, down to the tip of his bony tail. He reminded you of a bat, in a way. You were surprised of course, but it was still him, and you had no reason to be afraid of him.
"It's not a costume..." he whispered, his gaze flicking away from you. "I'm sorry for scaring you, I know I'm a monster."
"Hey," you said, your tone sympathetic as you reached a hand down to him. "C'mere, it's alright." He looked at your hand for a few moments before he took it delicately in his own, claws wrapping around your palm. You urged him to stand up and he obeyed, standing up fully but still holding his wings close to his sides. "Can I see you? All of you?" You asked gently, rubbing the back of his hand with the pad of your thumb. He blushed underneath his paints as the shame inside him still burned hot, but he trusted you more than anyone. He took a deep breath, allowed himself to relax as he exhaled, opening his arms to reveal his full wingspan. You drank in the sight of him, and he was beautiful. A beautiful creature of the night, as you always knew him to be. You reached out to caress his wing, and he chittered happily at the touch. You chuckled at the sound, and Perpetua was fully at ease with you now. "Were you watching me sleep?"
His eyes widened in disbelief. "Wha— Like this?" he gestured to himself.
He looked away sheepishly. "I... Yes. I like to... check on you when I can't be with you," he admitted, his gaze darting around you as he was unable to look you in the face.
You smiled. "Aren't you sweet. My own personal gargoyle to protect me," you teased. His ears folded back as he tried making a displeased face, but he couldn't help but smirk a little, his fangs poking out from his lips. "Can I hold you for a while?"
"Of course." You said like it was the easiest question in the world to answer. You grabbed him by the hand again and pulled him into your bed, settling into the mattress as he clumsily followed suit. It took some rearranging, but you two eventually settled comfortably on the bed together. He was able to wrap his wings around you as you curled up into his chest, your head tucked underneath his chin. You melted into his warmth, and it didn't take long for sleep to once again take hold of you, even despite the night's events. He held you close as he listened to your breathing, and he couldn't help the smile creeping across his face. He likely wouldn't be able to sleep like this, but it was worth it if it meant having you in his arms.
☆ he doesn't pay attention in class, so instead he uses your notes or asks you to help him study.
☆ you guys have late night dates where you guys just park his car somewhere and listen to his cassettes, smoke, etc.
☆ you love walking around/hiking, so ever since you two started dating he's been dragged around everywhere. he likes to complain about it, but also dislikes when you go without him.
☆ he's definitely the 'sneak through your window' type of boyfriend.
☆ you always doodle on him and some of his things (papers, notebooks, etc), and stan loves finding them.
☆ once you two start dating, he gets in trouble a lot for skipping practices.
☆ stan saw you smoke a cigarette once and tried it, and claims that you're a bad influence on him (as a joke).
☆ he's often a blusher when it comes to you, and when you compliment him.
☆ he loves when you play with his hair.
☆ you go to his football games and he goes to your art/music shows.
☆ he always tries to show off to you when smoking joints by doing tricks, until one time he fucked up and choked on the smoke...so he refuses to do them now.
☆ when you guys smoke j’s you have to roll them because stan can’t figure it out for the life of him.
☆ your guy’s first time was in the back of stan’s car, after a drive-in movie.
☆ he gets you little gifts whenever he can…cd’s, candy, bracelets, etc.
☆ he tries to act cooler with the guys on the football team as if he doesn’t ask you to spoon him sometimes.
☆ when he kisses you, it’s never just a kiss. it’s always tongue and teeth too, like he has to devour you.
☆ he likes going down on you way more than actually fucking you.
☆ if one of you are grounded from seeing friends/going out, you guys will be on the line for HOURS, sometimes not even talking. most likely, one of you will get lectured and forced off of the phone.

summary: axel has a rough day, and nova decides to come visit him with some dinner to make his day a little better (pure fluff)
need to know
That when I fail you'll still be here
'Cause if you stick around, I'll sing you pretty sounds
And we'll make money selling your hair
It was getting late. The skyline had foregone its sunset hues of oranges and reds and now, in the center of the city where his apartment building was located, the sky glowed with the lights. Rather than the stars resting atop the blackness of the smoggy evening, they clung like an ocean to the streets and the buildings.
Axel watched the clock on his phone change from 10:59 to 11:00 pm and his heart ached.
Each time he had tried to lay down and relax the same thing happened. His mind would remind him of a danger. A problem he had yet to solve at work or online. A reminder that he should not be resting because, well, there was simply far too much to do at the moment. Each though brought with it a stab to his limbs, transforming them into things that tingled with anxiety. They made their way to his throat, where the nerves formed a tight and unpleasant ball and it made seal want to scream at the top of their lungs.
Instead they stood from his couch and meandered past the curtain dividing the living room from the kitchen, where he flipped the light on and began to rummage for some sort of food to eat, hoping it might drown out his thoughts to focus on something like a task. Still, the second his mind wandered, the thoughts hit him again, and he felt his entire body shrivel up in a physical flinch.
The sensation of concern was interrupted by the sound of Axel's discord pinging with a notification. Pausing his momentary restless searching, he picked up his phone to swipe it open and check. Nova, her name decorated with a star emoji and a heart, had messaged him. She must have still been up in her home across the hall. He felt his heart leap in excitement as he read her words:
🌟❤ SUPERNOVA ❤🌟

i saw your lights were still on
i was coming home from picking up fried chicken i wasn't just standing outside of ur window lol
unless you want me to
i'll get a boom box or something

Axel laughed to himself, admiring the excitement in her texts in comparison to his own, heavy and exhausted energy. He tried his best to keep his own tone upbeat as he replied to her:
Axel
hey starshine <3
yeah i'm up
not doing too well tonight is all :c
thinking too much
help me /silly
Her name appeared and the signal of her typing appeared, making Axel blush. Had she been waiting to text him back? Well, they were dating. As new and nervous as they both were in the situation, the sensation of crushing, puppy dog love never left him. If anything, he appreciated star for the effort.
🌟❤ SUPERNOVA ❤🌟

Axel took the time to put the items he had pulled from the kitchen away, favoring going back into his living room and fiddling with the stretch of his outpulled futon. He liked sleeping in the apartment bedroom, but, sometimes on cold nights it was simply too chilly. Sleeping on the couch next to his working fireplace was a lot easier. He took the time to get a fire going, knowing how cold Nova got when she came over.
After a while there was a knock on the door. Axel stood from his final stoking of his fireplace, now alight with the warm embers of a fresh flame, and opened his apartment door. Sure enough, Nova stood before him with a loose plastic bag in one hand, her other leaning on his doorframe as she looked down and smiled shyly at him. Her cheeks were rosy and warm, probably from walking to get her dinner still, but she had dawned a comfortable looking woolen sweater with a high turtleneck that wrapped around her throat. She had her favorite long, flowy black skirt. The one with the overlaid fabric of the same black shade decorated with subtle flower patterns.
"Hey," She greeted. Axel leaned up, and soon their lips met in a tender kiss in the doorway.
"Hey," He responded, "Come on in, I have the living room set up for us."
"Always the gentleman." Nova giggled as she swayed into his home.
It didn't take both of them long before they settled comfortably into spots they had come to associate with one another on the couch. Axel lay down first, stretching himself out and making sure his phone and remove control for his television was nearby. Once done, Nova took her spot at his side. She was leaning against him, head pressed to his chest as he wrapped an arm around her and let her snuggle against him. She reached for one of her chickens, a drumstick, and handed it to Axel with a napkin.
"Woah a drumstick?" He gasped, "I'm being spoiled."
"It's because you've had a rough day," Nova kissed his cheek, "And I love you."
"Oh." Axel blushed red as she grabbed her own food, taking the remote from him and turning on his television as if she had owned it. She might as well have. Axel only ever used it when she was over, preferring to watch things with his headphones on a laptop while coloring or idly scrolling through his socials. The noise he made caused Nova to chuckle as she turned on what looked to be some sort of Real Housewives reality show.
"Do you want to talk about anything?" Nova wondered, adjusting herself so she could take a quick look up at her lover with a curious expression, "We can just eat and laugh at trashy housewives if you want."
Axel shrugged lightly, exhaling as he picked off a piece of fried chicken skin and ate it tentativley.
"I don't know. I just feel like....I'm falling behind somehow. That life's coming for me, and, I don't really have a chance in it. Every time I think of doing something I just....freeze and can't. It feels like my limbs are made of bees and moving them disturbs the hive. Its exhausting."
Nova hummed, shifting herself to look at him fully.
"My poor boy," She mused as she kissed the corner of his chin with a sigh, letting her lips linger on the rough patches that were still growing uneven patchy spots of hair. Testosterone had made him much fuzzier, certainly, but he was still bad at growing hair consistently. Star continued:
"You work really hard, Axy. I almost never see you take a break. I think you're giving yourself too much flack, when all you're really needing to do is rest and relax yourself."
"I can relax when I'm dead." Axel laughed with an effort to push away the guilt of knowing she was right.
"Well, I think you're allowed to relax while you're alive. You enjoy it more that way."
A pause. He adjusted himself so that star was wrapped more in his arms. He held her close, reaching out to take a piece of fry from the side dishes on the table, and smiling down at her as she followed him for one of her own.
"Well," Axel admitted softly, "I feel relaxed when you're with me. You always make me feel safe."
Nova's eyes widened. Her face was blossoming with a red blush, even in the light of the fireplace and television as the scenes changed. Something about his words honored her, even if he couldn't understand why they would. After all, he was just Axel wasn't he?
As if sensing his doubt, her hand went to his cheek and held him, caressing his face with her thumb as she smiled up. Something about Nova's gaze was dreamy and awestruck, like she had witnessed the most beautiful shooting star cross her vision. She always looked at him like he was something so unique and beautiful in the world. He reached up, holding her hand in his own and smiling bashfully back.
"I'm glad," She whispered softly, "I want to be someone you're safe with, Axy. When I'm around, when you don't have work the next day, when we do this...I hope you know that I do it because I love being with you. Truly, I....I love you. After all."
Axel thought about the lingering vulnerability in her words, and soon could not stop himself from leaning forward and capturing Nova's lips into a tender kiss. She eagerly returned his motions, bringing him to her so that she might suck out the rest of his negativity and push it into the air as they separated.
"I love you, Nov." Axel smiled.
"I love you too, handsome," She kissed his neck, "Now come on, the skin gets all soggy when you leave it for too long. Do you want any sauce? I want sauce."
"I want your sauce." Axel joked, but reached for a pack of ketchup while Nova grabbed the signature buffalo sauce of the restaurant. Star laughed at his sentence, nudging his feet with her own.
"Maybe after dinner, big guy."
In the end, they both fell asleep on the couch in one another's arms.
Christmas night in the a quiet place was quieter than usual.
Not silent—never silent—but softer. The lights were dim, music slowed, the chaos dialed down just enough to feel almost peaceful. The animatronics gathered where they could, trading gifts in mismatched wrapping paper and laughing over who made them dumbest gifts ever.
Lunar sat cross-legged on the floor, surrounded by boxes.
Earth had given him matching best friend bracelets—bright, clunky things that clinked when he moved. Andromeda, apparently incapable of subtlety, had gifted him a TV that Lunar was fairly sure wouldn’t even put around the daycare. DJ Music Man’s gift card glittered obnoxiously in its envelope.
Lunar grinned, genuine and wide.
“This is great,” he said. “I am loved, Spoiled,Possibly in debt emotionally forever.”
Sky stood a little off to the side, watching.
When it came time for Lunar to give Sky his gift, he did it fast—too fast—thrusting the plushie into their hands like it might explode, everybody else git literally socks from him but not Sky.
“I, uh—here,” he said. “It’s Hello Kitty. She’s very powerful,I think,I don't know.”
Sky blinked down at the plush.
“damn-" they said softly. “Thank you.”
Lunar rocked on his heels. “Yeah. No problem. Totally normal gift. Not symbolic.”
Sky smiled faintly and hugged the plush to their chest.
Then, quieter, they added, “I… didn’t get you anything.”
The words hit harder than Lunar expected.
“Oh,” he said.
It came out small.
But Lunar was good at this. He tilted his head, smiled, shrugged. “That’s okay! You don’t gotta. Gifts are dumb anyway. Overrated.”
Sky looked away.
When the night wound down and everyone dispersed, Lunar was about to head back to the daycare when a message popped up on his system.
Sky: Can you come to my room?
Lunar stared at it.
“…Okay,” he muttered, heart immediately trying to escape his chest.
Sky’s room was tucked beneath the theatre, hidden away like a secret. Lunar had never been there before. He expected something kinda weird. Bare. Practical.
It was none of those things, because Sky already changed everything down there
Now The room was warm,Soft. Walls painted in pastel pinks and blues, shelves lined with plushies and figurines. Fairy lights twinkled gently, and Christmas decorations were scattered everywhere—tinsel on shelves, a tiny tree on the table.
Lunar stopped dead.
“…Whoa.”
Sky stiffened. “I’m sorry,” they said quickly. “I know it’s—girly.”
“No,” Lunar blurted. “It’s- uhh- pretty!”
Too honest.
He shut his mouth immediately, cheeks burning.
Sky glanced at him, then nodded. “You can sit,y'know”
Lunar sighed "Yeah sure man I guess..." Still thinking about the not given gift
They sat together on the couch, close but not touching. Sky reached down and handed Lunar a box.
“I lied,” they said quietly. “I did get you something.”
Lunar blinked. “…You did?”
He opened it.
Homemade chocolates, carefully wrapped. A soft shark plush leaning inside.
Lunar froze.
“Oh,” he breathed.
Sky reached in and quickly pulled out a folded note, tucking it away before Lunar could react.
“I—uh,” Sky said, suddenly very focused on the floor. “I thought you might like sharks. Because of the… shark in the ball pit joke.”
Lunar laughed softly. “They’re my favorite animals.”
Sky’s shoulders relaxed just a little.
They sat there like that, warmth settling between them. In silence for a few seconds before Lunar tried to speak again-
Then Sky leaned in and pressed a gentle kiss to Lunar’s cheek.
For half a second, time stopped.
Lunar’s system short-circuited.
“Oh—!” He jumped up, clutching the box to his chest. “UHH— Thank you! This is—wow—really nice—goodnight!”
He fled.
Sky sat frozen on the couch long after the door shut.
Slowly, they unfolded the note they had hidden.
"I think I like you more than I should.
You make things feel easier. Brighter.
I don’t know if you feel the same."
Sky swallowed.
“…I should’ve left it,” they whispered.
Because now?
Now it was definitely going to be awkward.
And they were sure—absolutely sure—that Lunar didn’t like them back.

A Saviour for all that you do, so you live freely without their harm.
So here I write my lullaby, for all the lonely hearts.
Remember as you learn to fly, to be the one you love.
So I can take this pen and teach you how to live,
But what's left unsaid is the greatest gift I give.
So take this in faith, let me remind you not to bleed.
So fun fact: I spent two months in rehab recently (for mental health stuff) and tbh think a Newsies fic set in rehab would be wild af what do y’all think? Is it too taboo? Would you read it?? Drop a like if you would
