i think of mary and barty a lot separately but them together is a brainworm that cannot be stopped

barty was SO high energy after downing a monster and forcing marlene to blast metallica

mary had been radiating discomfort from a day full of wearing her best— itchy fabric and heels is a natural disaster in its own right

barty took a lap around the living room looking for his bandmates when he saw mary

barty isnt sappy, he isnt a love at first sight or crush kind of guy— ("fuck that noise" was said by his younger self far too many times to count)— but shiiit. she was gorgeous.

he, being barty, obviously bee lines for a pretty person. its in his nature, as he would say.

mary looked up, and her mind whirred alive once more for the first time since the concert. in her mind, she had three separate thoughts.

2) who is the weird, familiar punk boy running at me?

and finally, 3) oh my lord, hes hot.

she shifted in her place against the wall, already gearing up for... whatever was happening

barty leaned on the wall next to her, elbow pressed uncomfortably against the wood.

they spoke for a good while, barty saying dumbass shit that shouldnt have hit, and mary matching that energy a little TOO well.

eventually, mary made an offhand comment about how she wished nothing more to be out of her uncomfortable ass clothing.

(cue barty accidentally asking her if she wanted to get out of those clothes with him)

(he proceeded to pause and think about what he said for once)

mary laughed it off (THANK GOD!) and joked rhat she did say anything.

barty led her to evans bathroom and gave her some of the clothes he left there!!

yada yada they gave eachother numbers and hung out and fell in love
