Huntsman spider/wood spider
Fun facts below!
Looking to make moots with college students who are interested in biology and need someone to infodump to. I’m in art school majoring in illustration but all my life i wanted to also study biology. I approach art in a very scientific almost forensic manner and i really really enjoy learning about microbiology (especially mycology) rapid evolution of all life forms living within high levels of radiation. Also symmetrical mutations caused by radiation(Fukushima and Chernobyl) as well as human domestication. I’m 21 and a butch lesbian idk if that’s relevant but I’m cool and i want to make biologist friends PLEAK!!!
Imposter Syndrome in Science
I know no one will answer this since I'm basically just non-existant on this platform but... on the off chance
Anyone working toward a bio-science degree / premed style degree feel like an imposter? I've gotten through a lot of classes and have done well enough. I guess someone on the outside would say I am smart enough but I don't feel it. I don't feel like it at all. I still have two more classes before I take the MCATS and I just don't feel like I am cut out for anything. I se ejob postings for synapse exploratory labs, oncology labs, genetics labs, and so on and I feel so ... not there. All that work I've put in and I feel so inadequate. Stupid science.
It’s National Honey Bee Day!
Over the last 15 years, reports and studies have shown a significant drop in the number of bee colonies that are now vanishing from our gardens.
Kimberly Stoner, associate agricultural scientist with the Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station in New Haven, explained that Bombus affinis, the rusty-patched bumble bee, “disappeared before anyone knew it was gone.”
However, today, we want to celebrate the beloved bee by taking a look at the seven stages of a bee’s work.

Tufts Receives $10 Million Grant to Help Develop Cultivated Meat
As the world’s demand for protein grows, food production needs to keep pace. Now a team led by a Tufts professor has received a five-year, $10 million grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture to develop an alternative food source: meat produced not from farm animals, but from cells grown in bioreactors. The team, led by David Kaplan, the Stern Family Professor of Engineering, and his team…

Bio-Boosted Decomposition of Wastes for Discouraging Biomass Burning for Clean Air and Prospering Agriculture - Crimson Publishers
Bio-Boosted Decomposition of Wastes for Discouraging Biomass Burning for Clean Air and Prospering Agriculture by Yadav RC in Significances of Bioengineering & Biosciences: Crimson Publishers- Journal of Bioscience and Bioengineering
Ecology is science dealing balance in entities both alive and non-alive existing in any environment. Mahatma Gandhi’s eye lenses are adopted as emblem of new vision for mission sanitation in India. However, there had been merely action of sweeping trashes and collecting at sites, which again reverts back as becoming garbage dumping sites and disposing wastes including pet’s droppings. Such garbage wastes easily burned for their disposal. Hence, the mission sanitation did not make any difference between the present and the past scenarios of sanitation and betterment of ecology. Various previous measures for waste utilization provoked towards discouragement for biomass burning, had been attempting without any scientific backing. Objective of present study was to develop a scientific fact application based method of decomposition of such wastes including agriculture wastes, highly liable to insitu or exsitu burning, leading to cause air pollution. A combo of bio decomposer boosted sulphur cycle supporting decomposing and aerobic composting of biomass, established in past, was carved as new route of overcoming the biomass burning for maintaining clean air. The measure also supports utilization of solid Municipal wastes. Thus, organic manure producing innovative method becomes an engine for bringing complete sanitation and many improvements in agriculture and environment. This research with double bio innovation becomes intellectual property for managing bio-wastes as well as bringing complete sanitation in improving ecology and clean air, thereby building double benefits i.e., becoming a solution of the problem and producing beneficial useful products.

Evaluation of the Antibacterial Activities of Some Newly Prepared Schiff Bases and Schiff Based Resins Against Staphylococcus Aureus and Escherichia Coli- Crimson Publishers
Evaluation of the Antibacterial Activities of Some Newly Prepared Schiff Bases and Schiff Based Resins Against Staphylococcus Aureus and Escherichia Coli by Nasira Liaquat Rajput in Significances of Bioengineering & Biosciences: Crimson Publishers- Journal of Bioscience and Bioengineering
The present study examines the synthesis and antibacterial activities of two newly prepared Schiff bases, bis (2-hydroxy-1-napthaldehyde hydrazine hydrate) BHNHH and bis(2-hydroxy-1-napthaldehyde m-xylene diimine) and two newly synthesized Schiff based-resins, polymethylene bis (2-hydroxy-1-napthaldehyde hydrazine hydrate) PMBHNHH and polymethylene bis(2-hydroxy1-napthaldehyde m-xylene diimine) PMBHNMXD. All the compounds were characterized by different spectroscopic techniques and clearly determined the structure and molecular weight of compounds. The synthesized compounds were successfully used for antibacterial activity against. Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacterial strains because the prepared Schiff bases and resins contain biologically active azomethine functional group, thus, the antibacterial activity was screened against Staphylococcus Aureus (Gram-positive) and Escherichia Coli (Gram-negative) by agar well diffusion method. The data confirmed that the synthesized compounds were highly active against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacterial strains. The broad-spectrum antibacterial activity against the reported bacteria may be due to the delocalizing of pi electrons of entering the cell wall of test bacteria, which may result in an enhancement in the lipophilic side of compounds and killing them. In summary, Schiff bases bis (2-hydroxy-1-napthaldehyde hydrazine hydrate) BHNHH and bis(2-hydroxy-1-napthaldehyde m-xylene diimine) and Schiff based resins polymethylene bis(2-hydroxy-1-napthaldehyde hydrazine hydrate) PMBHNHH and polymethylene bis(2-hydroxy-1-napthaldehyde m-xylene diimine) PMBHNMXD possessed potent antibacterial activity against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacterial strains and may be explored for their potential therapeutic purposes.

New Powered Air Respirator-Crimson Publishers
New Powered Air Respirator by Cheberyachko S in Significances of Bioengineering & Biosciences: Crimson Publishers- Journal of Bioscience and Bioengineering
The analysis of respiratory protective device use efficiency has shown the substantial limitations of quality assessment for respirators. This results in potential hazard of excessive influence of harmful particulate pollutants on employees. To prevent occupational diseases development it is extremely important that employers are motivated to improve labour conditions. Not least important is development of requirements to the biomonitoring procedure and conditions, as well as selection, testing and users training for individual respiratory protective devices use as based on the modern science development. The elimination of hazard class based only in providing the employees with individual respiratory protective devices is not scientifically substantiated and inadmissible way.
