When in public, Regulus and James live up to most of the expetations one might have of them. Regulus is quiet, withdrawn and humble. James is loud, popular and a real leader.

But when they are together, a swich takes place. Regulus starts talking, starts manhandling and is o so present. James loves to listen, and is reduced from a bold hunk to a shy, whimpering mess.

Jamie likes omegas, but he knows I’d hit it (WIP)

He ends up pushing him against one of the tiles in the communal showers. Bodies pressed against each other, still damp despite the towels around their waists.

Regulus can smell James’s scent from this close. Normally, it’s strong, with that smoky edge that burns the young Black’s nose. It’s easy to tell this is one of his warnings; Potter doesn’t need to bare his teeth to assert dominance, and that inevitably makes Regulus’s mouth water a bit, tempted by the challenge. He knows he has urges that aren’t normal for most alphas, and that his instinct to bite comes from what’s totally taboo.

If he’s honest, he’s never liked the idea of an omega as a mate—too soft. He grew up around alphas and had to fight for dominance over the others. Over time, it all became a game and a thrill for him. Unlike many, he doesn’t let his alpha out too often and enjoys winning by controlling others, but he’s still flesh and bone, and as such, falls into temptations.

And what a lovely temptation he has right in front of him, with James pressed so close and the reverberating sound from his throat that threatens a growl. Regulus finds it utterly adorable, even though it’s an attack on himself and he should take it more seriously. James’s body, a few inches taller, warm and with tense muscles, everything seems wrapped in a delicious gift that Potter has no idea he’s delivering for his delight. He could purr with pleasure if not for the fact that it might give the boy a glimpse into his inner world, and Regulus, being the good player he is, knows it’s not time to let that show just yet.

“What’s the matter, Jamie?” His voice slips out sweet like honey as his eyes roam over the view in front of him again, and he reaches out a hand to caress the boy’s chin. There’s a rush of power surging through his body as he sees how James squares his jaw and tenses even more than before. The effect he has on him drives Regulus crazy, and he forces himself not to bare his teeth just yet. “You’re acting like a mutt, maybe you’ve been hanging out with my brother too much.” And as quickly as he says that, his fingers leave the taller boy’s chin

Regulus feels absurdly pleased after that, thinking he’s at the top of his game, and his mind can only focus on how James’s eyes, despite all his bravado and attitude, flicker between anger and confusion. There’s so much innocence or maybe ignorance in them, round and framed by long lashes, the prettiest eyes he’s ever seen on an alpha, more like a frightened deer than a predator.

If James were an omega, he wouldn’t hesitate to sink his teeth into him. And that thought sends him spiraling.
