Don’t imagine Character A and B finding out that they have a common interest slowly after meeting and spending hours talking over it together.
Don’t imagine A and B slowly growing closer overtime, learning more about one another and willing to try out new stuff just because the other character likes doing that specific activity or item.
Don’t imagine A and B adopting each other’s commonly used phrases, sense of humor, little physical mannerisms like temple rubbing, constant arm crossing and other habits.
Don’t imagine A and B slowly becoming inseparable, buy-one-get-two-pack, butt-and-pants type of deal that only need to look at each other in order to share an inside joke that nobody around them seems to get.
Don’t imagine A and B getting things for each other just for the hell of it.
Don’t imagine A and B becoming comfortable around each other enough to casually insult one another as a greeting, but still respecting the other’s boundaries.
Don’t imagine them baring their souls to one another at 4 AM one night, sharing their deepest, darkest fears and secrets, their life goals and aspirations, their true core.
You didn’t imagine them, right? Good. Then keep not imagining them 5 years later, with their late night conversations having diminished into pointless small talk, their hearty laughter over inside jokes turning into a polite smile as they meet in the hallways, their respective names turning into nothing but a memory from their youth. Don’t imagine them having grown apart for no real reason other than life circumstances and busy schedules. Don’t imagine them as they occasionally think of the other, finger hovering over their name in their phone contacts as they think of texting them, only to give up last minute.
