Okay. I got impatient- was gonna post this tomorrow but I don't feel like waiting- so here we have: An 'At some point during Zuko's reign' comic thingy :D
So, Dante and Gregor are pretty similar, right? [Was going to be more organised but we ball. real tired so sorry if some of the wording isnt up to snuff
As a more direct comparison Outis for Gregor and Don for Dante still are important, but it's striking how much the two share.
I mean, to list a few things, they both:
- Are/were a manger of sorts, not of their own permissions
- Have had non-consensual body modifications
- Themes of enduring and surviving
- Have a notable lack of autonomy in their lives
- References to the Kabbalah [S,OD and Durante]
- Have plot relevant Potential [though we've only started to see Dante's - probably as a result of their wholehearted acceptance of their job.]
And while it isn't as direct a comparison, but I find the differences between mechanical and biological prosthetics to be interesting - for one, N Corp only seems to despise the latter, and only one is wholesale replacement rather than simple modification. Dante is just missing their head, and Gregor - despite how the mods supposedly usually form growths on the head - has his perfectly in tact.
But to get back on track, one of Dante's more enduring traits is their general lack of confidence the majority of the time, often taking the form of them noticing goings-on with the Sinners and not reacting to them. Though for each canto past Ishmael's they've tried harder to talk to the Sinner who's turn is up and coming. Connected to that are their tendencies to not want to focus on more negative past events, and instead choosing to move forward and ignore it if it doesn't seem to pose much of a threat - this was quite handily shown in Spring Cultivation in their lesson, alongside the reactions of Sinclair and Yi Sang [the former choosing to lie and attempt to hide his guilt until it all blows over and the latter choosing a less confrontational method of admitting his guilt via a letter.]
This then makes them real bad at addressing Gregor, who they essentially failed to help due to their inexperience, and has since been keeping himself primarily to the background, generally not trying to rock the boat. Though there have been occasional hints at resentment or frustration building within him that will eventually have to be addressed - hell, its a notable part of several traitor theories I've seen. And while they seem to recognise Rodya's situation, Gregor hasn't gotten that same treatment just yet.
And another obstacle - as I believe, related to the above - is the differing circumstances that led them towards their assigned roles. Gregor was originally modified at age fourteen or so, already having lived a good chunk of his life to have a sense of self outside of his role, which was later smothered by the trauma of the war. Dante simply woke up on the bus and as the manager - pre-planned by their past self given they were already in uniform - with no way to conceivably define themselves outside of their job. They have no conceivable way to leave their role, and have in turn embraced it, while Gregor accepts the futility but still wishes to leave it behind, still hates what it has done to him. Thus it remains even harder for Dante to relate to or understand Gregor, especially with such little time spent in his fathoms.
To talk more on the Kabbalah, given both of their relations with it have to do with the modified parts of themselves [Durante abilities are clock-themed and Gregor gets the symbols on his bug arm] I think I can draw something from it. See, so far the other embodiments of it - in the LobCorp HQ and the Library - it seems to be connected to a person's mind, as the Library was an EGO and the HQ is commonly thought to be extracted from A's own. These represent the journeys had by them following the path of flaming sword. Dante's seems to be following backwards down from Kether, and Gregor's follows suit with the exception of Malkuth. Neither have a visible Kether either, though it may be saved for the ending as it has been the last times.
Still, something major is bound to happen after the completion of their trees, even if neither Dante nor Gregor seem to be rearing up to seed of light all over the place. As well, if Dante continues down the pattern they're currently on than we run out of cantos before its fully complete, leaving out Yesod and Malkuth, which is rather interesting. Thus neither of them could complete their trees, Dante missing two and Gregor missing one.
But still, if I must theorise about what their completed trees could do or help with, unlocking Gregor's 'gift' and carving Dante's aspect seem the two most likely answers. Though I have some suspicion it may also have to do with Adam Kadamon and the idea of a 'primordial human' in Gregs case given what his mumsy is up to. And anything else for Dante would have to wait until we get more info on the company's goals.

Well, with the recent tumblr moderation update, I just wanna say guys, I've had an amazing time in this community, if this blog gets terminated then you can find me on other platforms under this username or an underscored version etc. But hopefully I'll be sticking around for a long time yet :3
How cool would it be if tfp Megatron wasn't loud with his words. Like, not like soundwave, he isn't sworn to silence, it's against his very uprising to be honest, but what if he was silent simply because words can only be used when they are at the chance of actually being listened too?
I believe a silent Megatron uses that as a basis for not really speaking too much, outside of announcements, and basic commands (that require more than basic context) as well as the fact he doesn't like, yell. He still tweaks out, absolutely, that's a core part of his character, but there's no dramatic yelling, an echoing "no" of despair, or curses targeted at prime and his team, or even quirky words of triumph. What if he's just... Quiet. Loud in actions and in appearance, what with the grey and purple frame, (rise up or die ig), and him still being just as physically hostile, it's just now coupled with the fact he can and will smite you with no word, as the smotten didn't deserve any.
When he's beating starscream, there's no rise to it, we get physical cues of what's about to happen and starscreams begging and whatnot, whatever makes you guys like the flying twig, but he doesn't't go on about how he failed, how he's amused, disappointed and whatnot.
He just,,,, steps up, and starscream knows what's going to happen.
It isn't predictable, but a few of Megatron's actions have a pattern, that I've noticed in the show tbh. Well, nothing really besides the obvious. He respects strength, he knows his own limits in what he can take on (predaking) he seems to lose all logical thinking when fighting Optimus prime which includes his ability to actually kill him, he can really know people at a glance(Jack, he sort of knew after the initial statement of "I'm stuck you have the high ground, why don't you just end it?" That this was basically another Optimus, just inferior and more Orion like and used it, of course reminiscing about Orion along the way).
A prime example would be the episode where he nearly kills Raf, it could still be just as effective, if not more, if he didn't say the witty line and without restrictions, would probably've kept trying to finish the job if it wasn't for the little showboating. Sure he's probably chuckle and flash his pointy ass teeth but he's still going for the kill.
As the audience it would be pretty neat to have to figure out his plans via contextual clues, what he was doing with the dark energon, his fight with predaking though could keep the dialogue I like it lots.
