Started my new AO3 series, C.J.’s Alternate Endings, today! Basically, this series is made up of stories I have where C.J. still leaves the White House after the Bartlet administration but does *not* go to California with Danny and spends some time to herself slowing down and figuring out what to do next.

In this first fic, C.J. goes to a writer’s retreat in April, about three months after the show ended. She has one story idea in mind, but memories of her old life (and one of her best friends) take her in a very different direction…

4: say something nice about a ship you don’t ship

The few CJ/Toby fics I have read are all **so* well written! And I think they do have really good chemistry, just in a platonic way imo.

7: your favourite tropes to read/write/draw

i’m always going to be an enemies to lovers girl. its just so good. and almost every ship will have some form of enemies to lovers fic, so its slowly crept its way up to my favourite over time! and also anything where a character is just put through it. its vague but really just emotionally torturing a character.

9: a ship that isn’t your OTP but that you enjoy

i don’t really have an OTP (i love so many ships equally) but i’d say sam/josh. i dont ship them but i dont not ship them? but some of the fics ive read about them. SO good.

Absolute favorite West Wing ship!

Without a doubt, CJ/Toby. I love this ship so much I don't even know if I can explain it coherently.

I love CJ/Toby. I love CJ/Toby. I love them so much I can tell you the exact date I started shipping them (May 21st, 2024, if you're wondering). For me, there was no moment of "oh, maybe I like these two together? maybe I ship them?" I just immediately started shipping them.

One of my good online friends was actually the one who got me into West Wing (thank you Bria for pestering me until I watched it) and I texted her my live reactions and thoughts as I watched the show and I vividly remember texting her "are CJ and Toby going to be a thing?" I also vividly remember sending her a text saying "I want CJ and Toby to fuck" the following day...

I genuinely don't even know if I can explain why I love them so much. They're just so...complicated? In love? They know each other so wholly, they get each other. They're very different, but they're not opposites. They're similar, but not the same. They contrast each other, but not in the ways you'd think. They're just...them. And even though everything, through living on opposite sides of the country, through Toby's divorce, through an insane campaign and an even insaner administration, they just love each other.

Trying to keep this coherent, but to sum it all up, I'm just incredibly feral for them. I love them so so so SO much.

2. A TWW ship I like that most people don't!

Sam/Toby. This is a ship I didn't even used to like! I don't actively ship it while watching the show, but if I stumble upon a Sam/Toby fic with a halfway decent summary, I'll read it. I'll most likely enjoy it!

I think Sam is bi. Canon Sam, even. When I watched the show for the first time (and this has not changed since then), I thought he was bi. Something about the way he got mad when Josh asked Charlie if he was gay...Yes, I know it's supposed to just be a somewhat similar thing to what he's going through with Laurie, but there was so much heat and anger there that it feels more Personal to me. I also thought, at times, that Sam seemed to be harboring a little crush on Toby (...and CJ and Josh...guy's got a lot of crushes.)

Now, do I think Toby is gay? No. Do I think he's bi? ...Not really. I think for him, his sexuality could easily be "women...and Sam." He's got no explanation for why he's attracted to Sam, but has no attraction to other men. He can't even begin to fathom why. But that's how it is.

Hi there! Love your writing, I was wondering if you’d consider doing a Cjtoby fic? Dying to see him take care of her after the shadow of two gunmen. No one does hurt/ comfort like you! Totally okay if you’re not feeling the idea! :)

Oh that's so sweet, thank you so much! I'm really flattered, and I'm so glad you like my hurt/comfort fic, but CJ/Toby is just not really a ship I write that much, so I don't think I'm the one for this 😅

I would, however, like to quickly rec a fic I happened to read yesterday, which is @sp3mily's Everything Stays! It's not exactly a focus on hurt/comfort, but it's a CJ/Toby fic where they're married and the final chapter has delightful angst around Rosslyn and TSOTG, if that's what you're looking for!
