"Well... Did you have fun?" Danny asked, his aurora borealis crown shifting its colors above his head as his green eyes stared at the mass of people surrounding the casket of Alfred Pennyworth, many crying silently or weeping, not a single eye was dry.

"Oh very much so. Being put in a solid shell was much more fun this time around..." Came the gentle voice of the ghost floating next to him, his eyes staying on the small group that were the ones sobbing or trying not to sob the hardest. He sighed gently and closed his blue eyes before opening them again as they changed to deep red and his voice changed "A shame all good things must come to end my King, but time waits for no one... Not even for its personified self."

Danny stared as the once ghost form of Alfred Pennyworth shifted back into its true form of Clockwork, the Ancient of Time. He chuckled lightly before saying "Hey at least this time you didn't go crazy and eat your kid..."

"Oh hush, must you bring up that embarrassing memory." Clockwork snapped back and swiped his staff towards his snickering King. "And I only went crazy for two reasons, one it was necessary for me to do so in order to actually start this Universe's timeline and two being constrained into a physical shell but having so much access to my powers drove me insane."

"I'm just saying CW. You could have eaten Bruce... I saw some of the bs he pulled. And that was before the whole Batman thing."

".... Yes well... Bruce was a much more tolerable child to deal with than the others ever were."

Clockwork is a Halfa.

So. Clockwork is one of the few Halfa's in existence. He usually stays in his Ghost Form, as in that form he is disconnected from Timr and can better oversee Existence.

But he does have a Mortal Form. He hasn't used it in Eons, or maybe it was centuries? Time is weird for Beings that exist outside of it.

Whatever the case, it's been a while since he has entered his Mortal Form.

But he suddenly finds a reason to need it. Danny has decided that he wants to try out Reincarnation, and he will not let his son live a life away from him in a completely different Dimension. It's far too dangerous!

So, he enters his Mortal Form, inserts himself into that Dimensions Timeline, and waits for Danny's Reincarnation to be Born.

Now, who is he in DC? Well, what Character is a constant guiding hand to the protagonist? A wise old mentor to their Son? A calming force that always seems to know how to help his family? A man famous for his Otherworldly Cookies?

Clockwork is Alfred.

He took a Mortal Form so he could raise Danny's Reincarnation, Bruce Wayne.

So I was going to write a post about Danny being Alfred, but you know what would be even funnier?

Alfred being Clockwork

Not only would some things like his apparent omniscience make sense, it would be the gate way into something even more hilarious,

BRUCE BEING DAN

I mean yes, he could always be Danny, but Dan has the same brooding vibes and is actually half businessman-socialite, courtesy of Vlad.

I just think it would be hilarious if Dan and Clockwork decided to shore up as pseudo father and son in an alternate universe/timeline where the Fenton's are rich and only had a son and also are better at hiding their crazy (and probably aren't mad scientists)

Imagine poor Dan being Brucie!

The chaos, the torture, Alfred/CW laughing in the background as he suffers!

It's wonderful

Dan deciding to redeem himself by beating up villains and shit politicians (the only reason why he suffers being Brucie) and donating and saving kids from losing their families like he did!

CW being omnipresent and chaotic but ultimately getting a much needed break where he can drink scotch and watch Dan stumble through redemption, chiding him through it the entire way

Dan not killing cause he's trying to go back to his roots or something, CW being able to just shoot whoever without thinking too much about the timeline

Dan seeing a small black haired blue eyed child that is an absolute spit fire and reminds him so much of his younger self (Danny) only so much more jaded and broken and alone, like he was after the explosion, and deciding to take him in

(Everytime Dan gets worried he's going to mess up, CW throws back a shot without a care in the world and tells him not to worry, which doesn't help at all)
