Cloudfur's POV Part 3 FINAL PART!!
Cloudfur purred happily as he looked down at Tootsie, curled around three balls of brown and white fur. Cloudfur bent down to touch his nose to a kit's head. "This one looks just like me!" He gazed at his son happily. Tootsie's blue gaze soothed Cloudfur. "What shall we name him?" Cloudfur asked thoughtfully. "I was thinking Cottonball." Cloudfur looked at Tootsie quizzically. "It's a Twoleg thing, you wouldn't understand." She purred teasingly. Cloudfur licked the top of her head before he bent back down to nuzzle a shekit that looked identical to her mother. "What about this beautiful kit?" Tootsie purred. "Your turn." Cloudfur thought deeply. How can I describe this beautiful kit? "How about... Wren? Or Fern? Maybe even Hazel?" Tootsie purred. "Just one name, please." Cloudfur crinkled his face in concentration. "Chesnut. Her name is Chesnu-" Cloudfue was cut off by a loud snarl outside the badger set. Cloudfur jumped, and glanced at Tootsie. Her eyes were wide with fear, and her pelt spiked. Cloudfur dashed to the entrance. Through the darkness of the night, he spotted a badger. It towered above him, it's beady eyes blazing with vengance. It swiped at Cloudfur, sending him spiraling away. Cloudfur glanced up, his sight dizzy. He saw the badger lumbering into the den, and Cloudfur screeched in grief as he heard the terrorized shriek of pain coming from Tootsie. A voice sounded in his ear. It would never work, Cloudfur.
"Cloudfur! Cloudfur, wake up!" Cloudfur woke with a jump, He glanced outside of his nest, and saw Tootsie. Her splotched fur rippled anxiously. "Are you all right, Cloudfur? You were thrashing like a fox ate your eyes!" She whispered softly. Cloudfur nodded distractedly, looking back down at his destroyed nest. "No, a fox didn't eat my eyes." He flicked his tail with amusement. "Everything is okay." Tootsie suddenly brightened, her fur lying flat again. "I have great news Cloudfur!" Cloudfur glanced up. "What?" Tootsie padded to the entrance to the den, looking out at the sunlit clearing. "Your healed! Ready to travel back to your home!" She sounded happy, but Cloudfur saw dissapointment flash through her eyes. Does she want me to stay? Cloudfur raised himself from the sandy floor, and padded up to stand beside Tootsie. "Great." He murmered. "Just let me get some traveling herbs ready. Could you catch us something?" He asked. Tootsie nodded distractedly. "Sure, sure, whatever." She padded from the den. Right then, Cloudfur noticed her swollen sides. He staggered, and took in deep breaths. When he looked back, Tootsie had vanished from sight. Cloudfur rushed to get the herbs done, but before he had the chance to go look for her, Tootsie had returned with a plump vole. Cloudfur took a closer look at the his denmate. Her flanks were swollen, and her eyes were dazed with tiredness. He rushed to her side. "Lay down." She looked at him, puzzled. Cloudfur stared at her. "Tootsie, y-you're... you're expecting kits." Cloudfur's mew tumbled from his mouth, and Tootsie lept it excitement. "I'm having kits!" She squealed like a kit, her eyes filled with joy. Suddenly she froze. "I'm having kits." She gazed at Cloudfur dreadfully. "Cloudfur, please, stay." She meowed desperately. Cloudfur stared at her sadly. "I'm sorry, I can't." Tootsie glared at him, before storming from the den. She looked back. "Cloudfur, I love you, but I wish you did too." Cloudfur opened his mouth to reply, but Tootsie had already gone. "Goodbye..." He whispered.
Cloudfur padded through the pine trees, pine needles softening his pawsteps. He glanced up, and a snowflake landed on his nose. Leaf-bare is here. His ears twitched as he remebered why he came here 2 moons ago. Time has passed. "Cloudfur?" A croaky meow sounded a few fox-lengths up the trail. He looked up to see a orange pointed siamese, with striking blue eyes. "B-beamstar?" His sister raced to him, and they nuzzled each other. "I thought you were dead!" She croaked. "Well, i'm here, and that is all that matters." Cloudfur looked to the sky. I will never forget you, Tootsie.
