I am in love with Absolute Wonder Woman and this annual isn't an exception! (Spoilers ahead)
Circe making a pig plushie for her daughter is so funny and so cute. And the fact Diana has it with her? Omg. I choose to believe she has it with her all the time in case a child needs comforting.
Peak Athena design. Designs of goddesses in AWW are always just so goood
Sapphics are being fed🙏
This portrayal of Medusa before transformation? Who is the target audience? ME?!??? Because I always roll my eyes at pre-ovid Medusa erasure, but THIS? I can get behind this, this slaps I love it
Volume 1 - Void Rivals - Spoilers - [issues 1-6]
I've finally got around to reading more of Void Rivals now I've bought volume 1.
It'd be good to know a bit about Void Rivals before reading this.
I'm not an avid comic reader so I trust a lot about what people like and dislike about Void Rivals. Compared to those with shelves and shelves of comics I just can't reliably compare the quality of this comic book to others and I also have a bias to liking Transformers content.
So I suppose the novelty of them taking the helmets off and them turning out they look the same was still there. And didn't seem so bad to me.
The introduction of the hand droid was great. And them learning from Jetfire/environmental observation that maybe they should use incorporate their suits into the construction of their ship was a good touch.
The hand droid calling him 'friend' so quickly may be the 'moral support' program that is later mentioned in the series. But I also felt that the hand droid may potentially have a living consciousness placed in it. And with how the hand droid is switched to pilot to pilot, it really shouldn't get attached or become attached to.
Darak gets thrown around and Solila is more trained in combat than him.
Now that the story has continued he has gained more personality. Darak seems innocent because he doesn't get exposed to poverty. He may be actively hidden from the worst of the conflict's repercussions. He also has a positive reputation that doesn't seem to hold up if the public look too much into it. Reputation that seemingly comes from his association to a powerful father who doesn't want a son who's a lability.
Solila was trained in a hostile environment. And she fights to protect her suffering people. Solila's reputation comes from her training and warrior status.
A status that is greater than Darak 'pilot' status.
Another point I'm realising is that the suits are more of an honest representation of these characters. They look the same under the suits but their personalities and origins are going to be revealed to be even greater opposites over time. There's a divide between the two. Yet in stress they are able to work together.
So, it isn't a 'we look the same so let's work together situation.' But a, 'We look the same but we are two totally different people that won't be moved by each other's surface level similarities.' kind of situation.
These two 100% represent their halfs. Foreshadowing how something's going to threaten the rings and they will have to work together when something big threatens both populations.
These characters don't seem to have been treated too well in their lives. And they both may have felt a bit of relief crashing onto that planetoid.
It will be interesting to know if they will talk more about their pasts in the later issues.
How will they handle the isolation of the wasteland separating the two halfs of the ring?
And what makes The Sacred Ring wasteland so dangerous?
That's where I'm at right now in this slow paced story.
And this comic seem pretty popular.
The best improvement so far! 👌 I know how the writer mentioned that he was returning Captain to his roots and I'm so happy, but to finally have him be referred to as "Captain" again as a midway point and not Shazam of all things is honestly so great. FinAlLy
