The Uncommon Common Sunflower

Though living in the tropics, these Common Sunflowers (Helianthus annuus) aren't really that common here. These that come from the floral industry apparently have practically no pollen, a plus for allergy sufferers.
Through my love of the birds and sheer neglect of yard work, I present to you the common sunflower!

These were in a dimly lit lay-by, so the ISO was pushed up to 6400 to get a mere shutter speed of 1/60 second. Thankfully, the image came out sharp.
Common Sunflower: Italian White
Helianthus annuus is a species of flowering plants in the family Asteraceae. The plant was first domesticated in the Americas. Sunflower seeds were brought to Europe from the Americas in the 16th century. It grows well with full sun, well-drained, and tolerant of dry conditions, but more regular watering promotes blooming. Italian White is a heirloom variety of domestic common sunflower, breed for its cream to pale yellow colour (it is greyer here to match the flag used).
The common sunflower is used as an awareness for hidden/invisible disabilities, proposed by Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Scheme Limited, a private company based in the UK. The company was created in 2016 to help people with hidden disabilities navigate and find help in public places, by providing sunflower lanyards to provide for people with hidden disabilities to signal their need for extra help in public.
