#FBF to the 2019 Continental Cup of #Curling in celebration of taking the first step to my birthday trip to the 2022 World Men’s Curling Championship in Las Vegas. This morning tickets for the event went on presale for folks like me who’ve purchased tickets before (I also had full week tickets to the GSOC event originally scheduled for Vegas that got cancelled due to C19). . . There are 197 days until April 2nd, the day after my birthday (4/1), and the start of Worlds. My friends and I have about 6 months to finalize travel plans (e.g., drive vs fly), but I really need to start mentally preparing myself for the possibility that @svenskcurling may send another team to Worlds to gain experience especially if 🐐 @niklasedin & @teamniklasedin win gold at the Olympics (which I’m really hoping they do). I still have fangirl PTSD from #ContCup2019 & while we only get one shot at a first time (no do overs), I am hoping this next trip will erase most of the heartache that lingers. Hopefully my expectations are more realistic now after hearing about other fans’ bad experience at Worlds in the past. Also, I’m such a big curling fan now that Team Edin are not the end all be all, there are lots of other athletes I want to meet/see again. But let’s be real, no Team Edin for a birthday trip that took so much time, money, and effort would be devastating. So I’ll be manifesting gold for my #Icevengers in China at the Olympics and in Vegas at Worlds 🙏🤞 . . One of my friends & I originally planned to go to Beijing for the Olympics since the curling venue used to be the Water Cube (where Nathan Adrian won his first Olympic gold in swimming), but C19 and my mom becoming disabled last year killed that plan. Hopefully all the preparations I’m already doing will ensure I get to go to Las Vegas as planned for my 28th birthday 😉 Most people go to San Diego for Spring Break & I’m leaving to go to Vegas and sit in a cold arena. I hope 🐐 @niklasedin enjoyed being bombarded by birthday greetings 🎂🎂🎂 Here’s a throwback to the #ContCup2019 in #LasVegas I’m not sure if the Meridian GSOC will happen as planned in Vegas come January 2021, but my friend and I bought our tix months ago and the plan is to drive there if it does happen because I’m really hoping I win a #CardboardNik in the raffle and I can’t really fly w/ that or ship it. Last night at @curlsandiego curling league I got to channel my inner @evemuirhead of @team_muirhead Not only did I wear my @bawbagsunderwear I’m also wearing my #ContCup2019 jersey. It was neat to see #EveMuirhead be the hero of Vegas, clinching the win for Team World especially after hip surgery. I knew I had to get #Bawbags underwear after seeing #TeamMuirhead post about it and finding out they support the fight against #cancer Not gonna lie, I had to put on my @teamniklasedin @dynastycurling hoodie on after this pic was taken though. It’s cold and my Team Edin hoodie has been my Saturday uniform since I got it. I wish I could order the new Team Edin hoodies, but it seems they’ll never be sold. . . I also got to channel my inner @saramcmanus vice of @teamhasselborg last night. It was my first time playing vice for the entire game and we won! Michael, the youngest member of the club and a chatty old soul, started noticing and commenting that if I scream or yelp while delivering a rock, it’s gonna be a good shot and was making calls like a TSN/Sportsnet commentator 😂 The funny thing was, he was actually mostly right especially towards the later ends. The ice was kinda wonky and kept falling a certain way so it was mostly luck that I was managing to pull off the good shots I was making, but I’ll take it. I look forward to the day when I can consistently do takeouts, those are fun when I nail them. One day I hope to actually have a draw game too haha. I suck at drawing and totally better at making granite fly. . . As disappointing overall as the #ContCup2019 was for me thanks to my own naiveté and mismanagement of expectations, I have to keep reminding myself of the positive things associated w/ the trip. Not many #curling fans are lucky enough to watch their favorite teams compete in person, and I thoroughly enjoyed watching @teamniklasedin help Team World end the drought in #LasVegas I’m still torn between wanting to cry and laugh over this picture, but I’m hoping in due time I’ll learn to laugh more about it, starting w/ the very realistic possibility I will post it again on 11/15 w/ a smaller blue box 😂 I will never forget watching @niklasedin and my #SwedishVikings defeat Team Shuster and getting a 👍 from Nik on his way out as I pointed to the shirt I was wearing.
