21 for Zatanna and Zatara from dc superhero girls (2019) since it seems it’s never gonna come back from hiatus and their father daughter bond is just so sweet!

"Emoh", Zatara whispered hugging his daughter closely.

To be entirely fair, he wasn't sure what happened. The last thing he remembered was their show, but given that it took place in the evening and now they were standing in the bright morning sun, whatever happened must've knocked him out for at least a few hours.

He slowly looked around and realized that their apartment is totally wrecked. They were standing between broken mirrors and flipped armchairs, the floor scratched and a few of the lamps crashed. He tried to take a step away to look around more and almost tripped.

"Zee," he chuckled lightly and looked at his daughter, still clinging to his waist. And then a tight knot tied itself in his stomach. Zee's costume was dirty, ripped by claws in a few parts and her hair, which she always made sure to keep perfect, were a total mess. He knew his daughter was a superhero (and it would be hypocritical of him to stop her) but at moments like that he hated that he can't do anything to help her in fights. "Everything is alright now, love", he said finally, through a sudden lump in his throat.

Zee didn't answer at first - instead she burst into tears.

"I was- I was so scared..." she croaked out finally. Zatara hugged her closer. "I thought I messed up the spell and you- and I-"

"Shhh, it's alright Zee, I know it wasn't you that..." he tried to comfort her.

"Dad, you've been gone for three day!" she shouted, suddenly pulling away.

Three days.

Zatara froze.

Has he really been gone for so long? And Zee... She was alone this whole time. Alone, and blaming herself for his disappearance. He felt a strong pang in his heart and a flood of blame fall into him. But he forced on a smile.

"But you've saved me, Zee," he lifted her chin and placed a soft kiss on her furrowed brows. "And we're together now, that's all that matters."

Yessss the Zatara family my beloved. One of the biggest crime of this show getting discontinued is that we won't see more of them.

I wrote this drabble with it taking place after the end of the comic "Ghosted" in mind, but I think it works without that context as well.
