Death is a being that puts his duties above all else. He supresses everything that a soul, monstrous or no, has: desire, emotions, reactions, instincts. The Master, Dark Lord, is above him. He funnels, and then blocks all else he has off to complete whatever task he must do. It’s became his livelihood. It IS his livelihood.
And when Dracula dies, he’s just a repressed shell of a creature of the night, fulfilling his role as one called Death. He isn’t directionless, no, he is still straight and true...
But it’s different. If someone will become the “Dark Lord”, then he will serve them.
But...
...They aren’t Dracula. Not anymore.

“I thought the personification of Death would be able to handle loss better than this.” HE’S NEVER HAD TO LOSE ANYTHING SO IMPORTANT TO HIM BEFORE. HE’S DEATH. I AM SCREECHING THIS COMMENT IS SENDING ME I LOVE IT. YES. And he’s so naturally repressive that he just. doesn’t talk. at all. about how he feels. or if it’s bothering him. or if he wants to do something else. he’s got a fucking NOOSE around his SOUL he MADE HIMSELF, that’s CONSTANTLY carrying him. GOD IT’S EVEN A DETAIL IN THE NOVEL HOW SOMA’S NEVER HEARD HIM SPEAK AAA.
Also, yes, it’s Thursday. Well, actually, it just hit Midnight, so Friday.))
For Death: What has been Death's opinion/views of the Belmont clan members across time? Was there someone who stood out to him in the worst way?
Functionally, many Belmonts carry the same sort of meaning to Death: the ones who stand in his Master's way. Even with closer interaction with certain Belmonts, his opinion or overall views of them rarely differ from another.
This is most clear with Juste, who despite having some of the most dialogue with the man throughout his entire series....I can't say he'd have any particular opinion on him aside from, well, the obvious.
Naturally, he respects any Belmont's strength and will, though, but he will have none of their shenanigans.
Trevor and Julius he has a lot of leveled anger towards due to them being the first and last to slay Dracula.
Can you imagine what Richter and Death got up to when Richter was being controlled???? Unlike what history remembers, his opinion of Richter is perhaps a little lesser. I say perhaps, because, honestly, he also could have had more of a respect for him, just based on that reason alone. Not to mention Death did not immediately try to slay Richter on carriage. Ultimately, for Richter, it's complicated, but it's certainly a more personal sort of Belmont who sticks out in his mind.
Unrelated, but the non-Belmonts, such as the Belnades or Morris clans, he prooobably had his opinioned heightened (lowered?) with them as they interfered with their plans.
Oh, right, Leon. Probably on the same level as Trevor and Julius. While they certainly had a lot of key interactions, I think the big strokes are the same: a foe. I should watch through all the Lament of Innocence cutscenes closer, huh.
not sure why i'm formatting my post like this but heRE WE GO BABY
this thing
rubs my grubby hands together
🌍 extremely textbook smart, almost encyclopedia he's surprisingly good at capturing the 'feel' of an action (like pretending to be pious were he to ever pretend to be a priesT OH WAIT), but there can be struggle to "do" something he's never done before. (Yes, Kid Drac Alucard would show him up on his GameBoy Color :tm:)
umm but he's very in tune with a lot of the world, especially major general events from key figures, and even more major but secretive ones.
basically he can tell you about it but the actual physical process or whatever might be difficult
👻 He's very naturally attuned to that sort of thing for obvious reasons and can generally pinpoint the cause and the soul. The hardest clash, of course, is his personality. While he can be a manipulative or even rarely charismatic, he tends to be blunt and forceful. Every soul and paranormal encounter can be different, so depending on the soul it might not turn out...uh, in a good parley or whatever. of course he's death so it's not like he's gonna lose in some sort of fight soooo
(oh my GOD a human!death au where he just randomly brings up he's watched fucking 800 paranormal investigator shows in private fdafasga)
📚 Not as much as Dracula, but versed in all languages, but is better at communicating with them with verbal words instead of written words. ...Maybe. I might go back on that thought. It is probably something he does over any other hobby, if only because it's a lot more simple to pick up or put down. No that, uh, Death usually invests in hobbies.
And yeah, Uncle Death totally read bedtime stories to Alucard.

“Jokes? I’m sorry, I’m not good with jokes. I tend to not understand them. I do like ‘clever jokes’ the most, though. ...But I can’t recall what one would be.”
“I smile. I feel nervous, and yet, I feel happy. I feel extrodinary. It’s so strange...logic should dictate that they’re just someone you’re friends with, and yet...”
“Puzzles. Sitting down and doing puzzles on a rainy night, with Zoroark in my lap, I feel at peace.”
“Perhaps...sickness. But even being sick can make one self stronger. But I also am frustrated at trainers who fail to realize the good and are stuck in the past...even ones who only see my past, and nothing else. I wish I knew what to do.”
“...Myself.”
Death
“...A joke. What foolishness. Hm. A Yorick made a joke about using his head.”
“Love...
I do not know. There has only been one time... perhaps twice, and not of my volition. But I do know that it creates a unifying sensation. One that he would want to be with forever.
It is a mortal feeling. It has no place in my soul.”
“...The Master’s smile.”
“That Succubus Soul that dwells in the realms even I will not tread. She has been moaning, screeching, groaning for hundreds of years now... She is annoying.”
“Belmont. But any enemy of Lord Dracula. I wish to have their blood kneel before my scythe before I damn their soul to the other side. I will cooperate, if the situation calls for it, however...even without Lord Dracula present.”

For Death:
“I don’t...know really much about it; it makes me curious... You have really beautiful eyes... And your...touch isn’t as...well, it’s much gentler than I thought it would be.”
For Grey:
“I can talk to you about my job, and it doesn’t make me sound crazy. It’s...kind of comforting, having someone who knows the, ah, ‘unsusual’ side to life... I like that when you do actually smile, it lights up your whole face. And you have nice eyes.”
For Diego:
“Well, okay, obvious, yes, but I do love it when you play the guitar, and I really like your ink... And sometimes, when you smirk just the right way, the way the light hits your fangs... It’s, well, it’s hot.”
For Charles:
“You’ve very agile, you seem very supportive of your teammates, and you have a nice smile?”
For Shadow:
“Sarcastic wit is always a plus, you can take things seriously, and okay, the speed is impressive.”
For Billy:
“Well, when you’re not cussing me out, you’re pleasant to talk to, you’re pretty cunning, and you actually search for justice, not glory.”
For Brian:
“Heh, well... I love your voice, especially the little noises you make... You’re definitely...good with your hands...and other things... But, well... Mostly, I’d say... It’s your heart, Brian.”
