The Wayne’s dining room was filled with chaos controlled just enough to not anger Alfred. Bruce focused on his meal and tried to ignore his many children and children adjacent children as they fought over food, argued about this or that, dared each other, issued challenges and ultimatums, and generally did everything but start a food fight since that would get them the Eyebrow of DisappointmentTM from Alfred.
Bruce was just glad that most of his children were here. Duke had had an early supper before retiring to bed to rest from patrol, and Jason had decided not to visit tonight. Bruce was slightly disappointed he couldn’t have all his children here tonight. But thankfully, this Friday was Family Dinner which no one would miss for fear of disappointing Alfred.
Everyone immediately quieted down as Alred stepped into the dining room. Bruce suppressed a snort of amusement. It wasn’t as if Alfred hadn’t been able to hear them goofing off from outside the room.
Alfred raised an eyebrow. Thankfully, it was the Eyebrow of AmusementTM and not the Eyebrow of DisappointmentTM.
“I assume everyone is enjoying the meal?” Alfred asked.
“Yes, Alfred.”
“Of, course.”
“Thank you. Alfred.”
The kids chorused.
“It’s very good. Thank you, Alfred." Bruce said.
As Alfred stepped out of the room again, taking with him some empty platters, Bruce remembered what he had meant to mention at dinner.
“Tim.”
The boy looked over towards him.
Bruce smiled. “I’m glad you decided to take a break from casework to enjoy some time at the museum.” And Bruce was glad. It was good that Tim was learning to take breaks. He’d rather his children didn’t follow in his footsteps when it came to taking time for rest and relaxation. Though Bruce was doing better, especially since Dick had finally forced him into starting therapy. And while Bruce resisted heavily at first, Alfred had sat him down and quietly but sternly, reminded him that he needed to set a good example for his children and how could he do that, or even really be there for them properly, if Bruce didn’t first take care of himself.
And so Bruce was proud of Tim for taking a break from casework, especially since Tim was the one who more closely resembled Bruce when it came to avoiding breaks.
But Tim was frowning at him now. “I didn’t go to the museum. I’ve been in the cave all day.”
Bruce frowned. “But I saw you there.”
Tim stilled. So did, Dick. Tim glanced at his brother before turning back to Bruce.
“I think we might have a clone problem.”

Jason looked into the Fentons. He was a Bat after all. He needed to know all he could if he wanted to be able to ask the right questions. But the more he had searched the more frustrating and strange the situation had become. Because there was almost nothing on them.
He had only been able to find their last name because he had hacked into the apartment building’s files and found the name Jasmine Fenton written on the lease for the apartment he had woken up in. But when he had looked into her all he had been able to find was the school she was attending.
So then he had looked more into the Fentons in general. He had come across a poorly designed website full of neon green text on orange background and filled with links that led nowhere. It was strange though. On the surface it looked just like a poor design and bad upkeep, but when he looked more into the coding behind the website something looked off. It looked like it had been altered at some point. Though if he really wanted to get answers on that front he’d have to ask Tim or Babs for help.
But at least he had been able to get some information from the website. Mainly that the adult Fentons claimed they were ecto-biologists, whatever that was, and were self-proclaimed ghost hunters.
At least they had a picture of the Fenton family. The father, Jack, was a big man, tall and bulky. Madeline on the other hand, while still tall, was also very slim. Jasmine and Danny were standing in between their parents. And while the parents were smiling enthusiastically, the kids just looked uncomfortable.
Unfortunately, and worryingly, it was all the information he had on them. He couldn’t even find any birth certificates! Which meant that either whatever hospital they were born at kept horrible records, or it was all on paper.
The website did mention they were from Amity Park, Illinois. But when he looked into the town he had similar difficulties. The only information was what looked like a tourist website. And similar to the Fenton website it had corrupted links as well as some blurred photos. The coding was also similar. Which meant that it was definitely something Jason would have to look into now.
The website claimed that Amity Park was the most haunted town in America. Jason would have dismissed it before. If it was truly haunted it surely would have been on the Justice League’s radar. But with what little he’d learned from Danny and Jazz it would be best to look into the matter further.
It was an all around frustrating matter. To get more information he’d have to involve Tim or Babs who he could grudgingly admit had better hacking skills. Or, he frowned to himself, he could go ask Jazz and Danny questions.
He needed to go back anyway to ask about liminality, even though just thinking about it threatened to send him into another downward spiral.
But he needed to do it. Find out more about liminality, the Fentons, and Amity Park.
Because even amidst the confusion and the revelations Jason had been able to see that Danny looked remarkably like Tim. It could just be a coincidence, but Jason was a Bat and Bats didn’t believe in coincidences.
And if it was a clone situation it would really be best to get a head start on the situation.
And he had just the thing to make sure Tim would help.
There's a heatwave rn, and I can't sleep, so have shitty headcanon/incorrect quotes/scenarios I will never be able to fit into a fic/AU:
Tim, eating bowl of icecream: I can't believe he cheated on me :(
Jason: yeah, cheaters are the worst, right Dick?
Dick: ... First of all, how dare you-
--
Damian: no matter how hard I try... no one at school wants to... be friend with me
Jason: yeah I literally can't relate to that at all, but you know who no one likes?
Jason, fingerguns: OH TIM!
Tim: you're the only two who don't like me.
Damian: No, Drake, in fact the writers forget about you all the time
Tim:
Tim: what.
--
Damian:
Dick:
Damian:
Dick:
Damian: You gay?
Bruce: DAMIAN-
Dick, cackling like his days as robin: XD
--
Jason: you're a bitch
Tim: but... you're my hero 🥺
Jason:
Jason: that is more emotional than I am willing to go
--
Tim: stop being homophobic!
Bruce: I'm literally a bisexual whore, but continue-
--
I also love the idea of Bruce trying to hide his identity by pretending that Batman isn't an orphan (or smth idk). But also like... Alfred as a father figure to him (because yes and I said so).
Therefore:
Justice League, trying to comprehend the batfam: okay, so we get it, you're all without fathers-
Batman: not me!
Batman: I fucking love my dad.
I'm aware that he's probably too emotionally conspitated and traumatised for this to happen but I found it funny
--
Tim, watching Dick & Jason panic: What's going on?
Damian: Grayson is having a midlife crisis and Todd is just having a crisis.
--
Steph: Okay guys! If you were a fruit what would you be and why?
Duke: I'd be a tomato because no one accepts me as part of the group.
Steph: ...
Duke: ...
Steph: OKAY GUYS-
--
Jason: I'm going the fight the next person who insults Dick.
Dick: I hate myself.
Jason: Alright, square up
--
Jason, holds a gun out to Dick:
Dick: I-I don't believe in guns.
Jason: Well, trust me, they're very real. Now take it.
--
After Spyral:
Jason: So, you lied to me?
Dick: That depends on how you define lying.
Jason: Well, I define it as not telling the truth. How do you define it?
Dick: Um, reclining your body in a horizontal position?
Trial and Error is meant to be either a second chapter of my fic Lies of Omission or a second fic in the same universe. This is Dick and Jason being adult and having the kink negotiation conversation that they should have had before they started down the bdsm road in the first fic. So it's them working out how things will work between them given that Dick and Jason aren't really into the same things when it comes to sexual preferences. But they find some common ground.
And then porn.
Here's a small bit:
They haven’t started the conversation yet but already in the middle column, in red, it says: 'Hitting (hand, crop, cane)'. Dick notes that it doesn’t say ‘flogger’, but he’s pretty sure it’s oversight and not intentional, so at first he doesn’t say anything. Then he remembers Jason’s face, angry with concern, telling him he has to be honest and use his fucking words.
“Flogger,” Dick says.
Jason looks up from the pad. “Huh?”
Dick’s heart beats a little faster. “After 'hitting'. You forgot flogger.” He flashes a nervous smile.
Jason looks down at the page. “Oh, right. Sorry,” he says, and it sounds to Dick like, yes, it was just a simple oversight. Jason quickly adds ‘flogger’ in red after 'cane' without hesitation and Dick relaxes a tiny bit. “Anything else that’s for sure a ‘no’?”
“For now the things we talked about before. Bodily fluids are pretty gross.”
“Agreed,” says Jason easily and writes it in red Sharpie.
“Humiliation is a hard-no,” Dick says, nervous for some reason. He said it the first time they talked about all of this, but that conversation didn’t have the weight of months of relationship behind it. That was more of a ticking of preferences. This feels more like he’s baring his soul to Jason and it makes him feel slightly sick inside.
Maybe I'll get to refining and posting this one some day.😊 Thanks for the ask, nolanfa!
also dick grayson has a lovely therapist. she's lovely. they discuss types of tea and baked goods between dick trauma dumping. she validates how he's always been an older sibling to everyone, a parent to everyone, though he never got much fatherly bonding from bruce. and then she sets him a bit of homework to say "no, i need a break" to at least one person that week.
