synopsis: kazuha leads you up to his favourite spot aboard the alcor for a cuddling date under the stars.
“ah.. here we are!” you heard the soft sigh of your lover, kazuha, ahead of you as he hoisted himself up the rope ladder to the high point of the alcor’s crows nest, reaching a hand out to help you up after him. recently, you had been out on a short expedition with the crux fleet around teyvat’s oceans; you had been good friends with beidou and the rest of the crew for years, so you were well accustomed to tagging along as and when you could. it was actually through these expeditions that you had met your boyfriend almost a year ago, spending time together in more secluded areas of the ship when the crowds got too rowdy.
after perching yourself down next to the ruby eyed wanderer, he took a bag that he had slung over his shoulder and emptied out a light blanket. “thought you might need this..”, he smiled gently, draping it over your shoulders to protect you from the cold sea breeze, placing a quick kiss on your cheek in the process.
“what about you, will you not get cold?”, you hummed amusingly, while opening the blanket and hugging it around his torso, taking the opportunity to sit closer to him and share your body heat. while kazuha was more than comfortable being outdoors and cool, you still didn’t want to see him neglect his own needs for your convenience, especially since it was much colder up high in the crow’s nest compared to the main deck.
you sat in a comfortable silence for a few minutes, glancing up at the twinkling stars above you, holding one another close. it was nice, being able to enjoy one another's company alone after being separated on and off for so long. your relationship with kazuha was rocky in the beginning due to long-distance, but it made the moments you could spend together all the more worth it.
"they say wishing on a bright star brings good luck, i caught one instead.", kazuha whispered under his breath after a while, his face nestled in your hair as he hugged your body like you were the branch a blowing leaf were clinging on to.
chuckling quietly, you tilted your head to look at him, his shining eyes still focused on the stellar scape above you. "did you just mumble a haiku in my ear?", you asked, reaching up to peck his chin softly, snapping him out of his daze.
he focused his attention back to you, lifting his hand to brush any stray hairs from your face before leaning down to meet your lips. "my inspiration runs wild when i'm with you, my dear.". your face broke out into a brighter smile, your cheeks tinging a shade of rosy pink upon hearing his nickname for you, thanking the gods that he wouldn't be able to notice your shyness over something so small amidst the darkness. you could easily imagine the rest of your life with kazuha, never tiring of the way his poetry made your heart flutter.
"i love you, y/n", he added shortly after, almost as if he was listening to your internal monologue and affirming your wishes. if your cheeks weren't already flushed yet, they certainly were now. sure, you had heard kazuha tell you he loves you many times throughout your relationship, but it still never failed to make you swoon.
"i love you too, kazuha..", you responded, sitting up from your slouching position to kiss him again. "..so much more than i'll ever be able to say.". one of his hands met yours and your fingers intertwined, the other placed on your hip as he pulled you in to a tender but more passionate kiss.
"don't worry about what to say, your warmth and time are all i wish for.", he breathed as you parted for air, his lips brushing against yours delicately.
"was that another haiku?" you replied, exhaling a gentle laugh at his charms.
"perhaps..", he drawled back, teasingly pecking your lips quickly. you took your free hand to cup his cheek, staring into his eyes until-
"they're up here!" a voice suddenly shouted from behind you, making you jump in fright and bump heads with your lover who was equally as stunned as you.
snapping your body round to face the unexpected intrusion, only to see the captain of the ship, beidou, turn her attention from the gathering down on the main deck back up to yours and kazuha's cuddling set up.
a teasing smile spread on her face, and you were sure she had sent you an all-knowing wink had it not been for her eyepatch. "oh hello lovebirds, didn't intrude on anything did i? i hope not, this mast may be high up but we can still catch a glimpse of you guys from below.". you hid your mortified expression in the blanket still slung over your's and kazuha's shoulders while he let out an awkward laugh in response, clearly just as embarrassed as you.
she was never gonna let you guys live this down.

i feel like chongyun would have quite numb and bruised lips due to the amount of popsicles and cold foods he’s always eating to keep himself calm and collected, especially if he is in your company while keeping his not so platonic feelings hidden in a friendship. he can’t help but want to maintain his composure when, being around you, makes his cheeks flush and his heart warm.
“ow..” your friend winced slightly under his breath, gently rubbing the refreshing ice popsicle in his hand against his sore lips. due to his diet, chongyun often had trouble with his lips; whether they were swollen, numb, bruised or frostbitten. you’d noticed the increase in how many iced snacks he would eat in a day, spanning from about a month after you first met up to now, and you couldn’t quite place your finger on why. perhaps he was always like this, or maybe he was struggling with his already restricted diet. regardless, whenever you tried to bring it up, he would simply dismiss it and change the subject.
“you need to be more careful, chongyun. you could get frostbite from these, yknow? here, let me see..” you turned to the exorcist beside you, lightly grabbing his wrist to steer his hand away from his mouth. his lips were swollen and red, with a light bruise forming you observed. softly, you brushed your thumb over his lower lip, feeling a small bump from where the ice must’ve burned his skin.
shifting in retaliation at both the feeling of your hands and eyes on him, chongyun’s cheeks flushed a bright pink and he quickly hid behind his popsicle again after snatching his hand from you. it was kind of cute, you thought. he never seemed to be shy around xiangling or xingqiu - quite the opposite really. but with you, he struggled to contain the warmth that your presence brought, not wanting his drunken manic side to come out. even your name being mentioned in conversation was enough to make his hands fidgety and hot.
you of course, would never know this. at least, that’s what chongyun had told himself, oblivious to how easy his face was to read, and how terrible his best friend was at keeping secrets.

i finally finished one of the fics i had locked away in my drafts… i started this during 2.2, so imagine the contents occur before then (aka before ‘into the perilous labyrinth of fog’ event quest). i got the idea for this while listening to grace kelly by mika by the way, but it kinda went in a different direction than i originally thought. still, hope you enjoy!
a dramatic sigh snapped you out of your thoughts as you were sipping on your morning tea, feeling the weight of your friend tartaglia sitting down beside you on a bench overlooking the docks of liyue harbour. you had met the unusual ginger about six months ago after embarrassingly bumping into one another in the doorway of the northland bank. from the get go, his flirty humour had caught your attention, though you refused to ever show any sort of reaction to his compliments or teasing - after all, playing hard to get was more fun. unbeknownst to you however, there was truth behind the comments the harbinger made towards you, and your stoic silence seemed to send him the indication that you were simply uninterested. you shared plenty of laughs though: you were far from a bore to be with, and tartaglia appreciated the opposing forces of your personalities balancing out one another - you were sensible and quiet, and he was more loud and rebellious - a perfect match.
turning your head to look at him, you nudged his arm gently and asked, “that was a big sigh, what’s up?”. your friendship with childe often consisted of you going about your own thing, with the tall man inviting himself along with a string of excuses as to why he had to be by your side. not that you were complaining, of course; his lighthearted personality was a welcome addition to your day, and if you ever ran into trouble while he was with you, rest assured he’d protect you like his life depended on it.
tartaglia’s blue eyes stared out at the sea, deep in thought and worry-stricken. “why don’t you like me?”, he asked quietly, his gaze not wavering from the ships he so intensely watched. you were unsure if he was talking to you or thinking aloud, so you simply responded with a ‘huh?’ to try get him to clarify his question.
sitting up straight, the man’s eyes met your own with a seriousness you hadn’t really seen him possess before. “why don’t you like me, y/n? am i not good enough for you?”. what did he mean? of course you liked him, he was a close friend of yours by now, growing on you with each day you spent together. maybe your reclusive attitude towards him blurred the lines a little, but surely he couldn’t think you disliked him because you liked to tease him? you knew of his friend, zhongli, that he often spoke highly of, who reminded you a lot of yourself, so how could he have misunderstood your actions and not his?
setting your tea down on the bench next to you, you matched his posture and gazed at him with concern. “what makes you ask that, childe? of course i like you, we’re friends right?”. you hoped he thought of you as considering him a friend, at least. maybe you’d been too hard on him, making him feel like he wasn’t welcome to join you. you struggled to calm the worries circulating your mind on his perception of you now, clinging onto his words to understand where he was coming from.
the ginger paused for a while, the term ‘friends’ swimming around his thoughts. was that all he was to you? a friend? “no, i mean…”, he trailed off, breaking eye contact with you to rest his face in his hand momentarily. “.. i know we’re friends, y/n.. i meant..”.
reaching your hand over to reassuringly squeeze his forearm, you kindly beckoned him to continue. you had a gut feeling of what he was hinting at, but.. surely not. what would a rich, successful, handsome man like childe like a standoffish person like you for? he would be better suited to a more upbeat person than yourself in terms of a relationship, not a sluggish person he’d have to constantly reassure and drag out.
tartaglia liked a challenge though, and he loved being pushed to new limits to win you over. at least, he did until recently. more often than he’d like to admit, he’d thought of you as a lover, mentioning you in letters to his family, describing you to zhongli with a hearty smile, even being reminded of you while seeing young couples walking around liyue. but his time in liyue was running out; he had to move onwards to other nations for work eventually, and not knowing where you both stood in terms of a relationship nagged him.
exhaling deeply, childe began again, looking down at his palms, “i like you y/n, like… more than a friend. i thought it would be obvious by now..”, he trailed off with a breathy chuckle before continuing, slightly quieter. “i’ve been trying to hint at it for ages now, but i was afraid you didn’t see me that way, so.. i wanted to know how you felt.”. it was odd to see him this nervous, so you could tell his words were genuine. it was painful in all honesty; you knew he’d soon be leaving to continue onwards with his career, and knowing that made you long to stay with him.
as you were pondering how to respond to him, tartaglia snook a quick look at you before placing his hands down on his thighs, hoisting himself up to walk away. you couldn’t let him leave though, especially not in a state like this. to him, he had just bared himself to you, something he was far from accustomed to, in an attempt to let a weight off of his shoulders before he left on his mission to inazuma, embarrassed and ashamed by his feelings.
grabbing his arm and jumping to your feet quickly before he could get away, you stopped him, though he wouldn’t dare to turn and look at you. “what? just forget i said anything, okay? if you’re going to reject me, i’d suggest doing it quickly so i can move on.”, he gritted his teeth, clearly again having misunderstood your silence and getting defensive.
you responded with nothing but a tight embrace, wrapping your arms around his waist from behind. you could feel all the muscles in his back were tense. his head dropped in defeat.
“come back to liyue when you’re done, childe..”, you spoke softly, your cheek flush against his back. “i promise i’ll have an answer for you then.”. and with that you dropped your arms, allowing him to leave, wondering if he would really do as you asked.

synopsis: your relationship with dottore seemed to be coming to an end, but a surprise visit to his workplace backfires and could potentially be the nail in the coffin..
it had been months since you last spoke to your lover, the fatui harbinger il dottore. the two of you had parted on bad terms, you refused to accept his motive of testing his deadly technology on humans, especially when they were young, naive children. you had left snezhnaya the same night as your fight, heading for liyue for some much needed respite. your lover’s fellow harbinger, tartaglia, was positioned in the geo capital and offered to help you get settled in there after writing to you.
patrolling with the young man, you sighed and let out all the pent up anger you felt towards dottore. “who does he think he is, taking those poor kids from their homes and sacrificing them?”. childe smiled sympathetically at you. “i was afraid enough about him having a delusion, but this is too much! he’s gone too far this time.”.
“he halted the operation yknow?”, the ginger harbinger beside you said, not sure whether or not he should add fuel to the fiery emotions you were feeling, but upon seeing you lift your head and look up at him confused, he went on. “uh.. yeah, he’s working on researching the inner workings of ruin guards, he thinks they’re controlled by the abyss.”, childe shrugged, “actually, he set up a lab not far from here-“.
“where?” you snapped bluntly. as much as you were annoyed with dottore, you wanted to know if he was safe, and considering the unpredictability of ruin guards in your experience, you were rightfully tense.
hesitantly scratching the back of his neck, tartaglia avoided your gaze and exhaled deeply. “he’s in liyue, north of lingju pass.. hey! wait!”, he shouted after you as you began running in the direction of the lab. you had a vague idea of where it was, but the fear and sheer frustration you were feeling was enough to carry your legs all the way to snezhnaya and back.
robotic limbs and discarded metals littered the ruins upon your arrival. he must be nearby. after wandering around a few more minutes, you came across a concealed entrance to a building within the cliff face. you banged on the grand door with as much strength as you could muster, still panting heavily from your run to the said location.
nothing. “judging from the amount of steam leaving the pipes flowing out of the building, someone was inside, so dottore must be here..” you thought to yourself, examining the area until you noticed a key-code panel. perhaps you could get inside if you got the passcode? but what would it be? first, you tried dottore’s birthday - incorrect. you then tried dottore’s position within the eleven fatui harbingers, but that was incorrect too. “what if… no surely not, why would it be?”, you mumbled to yourself, “my birthday?”. shrugging at your last possible option, you keyed in your birthdate and much to your delight, an unlocking sound emitted from behind the door.
dottore wasn’t one for affection usually, even events such as your birthday or anniversary seemed to lack importance to him. not that he didn’t care, just that he didn’t exactly know what was expected of him on days as such. you struggled to remember when he first told you he loved you, or even when you last saw his face without his signature mask. it was an abundance of criteria like this, as well as his career, that led you to leave him all those months ago, but your curious love for the man never seemed to go away.
inside the lab was much more daunting than its exterior; remnants of ruin guards, skirmishers and ore lay scattered everywhere, the loud rumble of machinery painfully boring into your head. “dottore?” you shouted, walking further into the lab in the direction the sound seemed to be coming from. “hello? is anyone here?”.
thud. the ground under your feet shook, as if a giant were stomping around the room. in an unfortunate turn of events, the deafening noise of machinery prevented you from hearing the ominous metallic voice from behind you, and by the time you realised what was stalking up behind you, you were thrown to the ground.
a sharp pain erupted in your side, the impact of your fall being broken by the discarded circuits and metal on the floor. “y/n?!” you heard a voice yell out, unsure whether or not your imagination was deceiving you in your state of shock. “y/n! wait there!”, the voice commanded, and you nodded with weary eyes.
you prepared for the worst, keeling over in a weak attempt to shield yourself from a blast from the ruin guard that you thought to be in front of you.
but nothing came. at least, nothing other than the sudden silencing of the footsteps around you, and a voice. “krupp! stop this instant!”, you knew that voice, and that name. opening your eyes, a figure stood in front of you, their once curly blue hair clung to their scalp with sweat. dottore had positioned himself in front of your trembling body, as if he were a human shield awaiting the impact of his failed machine to hit him rather than you.
lunging down to grab a metal pipe from beside you, your lover striked the out-of-control robot around the head, whacking and stomping it several times before it crashed down a mere few meters away from you. once the threat of it possibly getting back up was eliminated, dottore rushed over to you and lifted your body up carefully.
“dottore?”, your eyes fluttered open and shut, one of his hands gently stroking your cheek. though his face was mostly covered, you could see the sadness in his red eyes. shushing you, the harbinger lifted his mask and pressed his lips to your forehead.
the fatui had a reputation for being heartless, evil devotees to the tsaritsa, according to non natives of snezhnaya. in all honesty, you were beginning to feel maybe that was the truth when you had left that night, not liking the person your lover was turning into. as if he was reading your thoughts, he sighed, “i’m sorry.”. no questions of why you were here, how you found him, nothing other than an apology which carried all the weight of the world with it. dottore was coming to realise that, while he thought he wanted nothing short of power, respect and victory for the tsaritsa, all he ever really wanted was you and now, your forgiveness.

another fic released from the drafts vault… a second part is in the works! ive not had wifi to post so sorry for the delay!
bartending wasn't exactly the career you'd envisioned for yourself, but the pay was decent, and you enjoyed watching the drunk hobbling from your fellow civilians. the tavern you worked at, the angel's share, is a hotspot for people of all types, ranging from weathered adventurers to scrawny men escaping from their families for a moment's peace. usually, you'd work the daytime shift but after charles - the usual bartender for the evening shift - fell ill and needed someone to take his place behind the bar, you had no option but to accept.
stepping out of the doorway to the tavern's storage room, you took your place behind the bar and scanned the room to see just how many drunkards you would be dealing with for the night. in the far corner of the room, you caught a glimpse of rosaria, the infamous sister of the favonius cathedral. beside her sat venti the bard, an odd character that looked to be way too young to be drinking, yet somehow got away with it, with a freakishly high alcohol tolerance.
across from the two familiar faces sat captain kaeya, an extremely popular regular of the tavern's nightlife. while you'd never had the chance to meet and get to know him, you had slight knowledge of his drinking habits and general personality, not to mention his reputation of being one of the most desirable bachelors of mondstadt.
it wasn't long before kaeya noticed your prolonged gaze in his direction, and when you'd snapped out of your thoughts, he was already in front of you with an empty wine glass.
your eyes widened and an embarrassed blush crept onto your cheeks as you looked up at the figure watching you in amusement with a tilted head. oh how you wanted the ground to open up from under you and swallow you whole.
"hey," he smiled, taking a seat on one of the bar stools so that he was now at eye level with you. you took the chance to quickly admire his handsome features.
shyly smiling, you responded with a friendly "hi…”, wanting to say more to fill the silence but were unable to find the words, almost as if you were caught in a trance. you noticed the entertained exhale that escaped his curved lips and hurriedly averted your sight to something, anything. kaeya gently nudged the wine glass in between you both closer towards you, and you took it as a queue to make yourself busy with pouring him another drink, so that neither of you would have to endure the awkward atmosphere you had created.
you left work in the early hours of the morning still in a tizzy over your meeting with kaeya, but shrugged it off thinking you'd likely never have to come face to face with him again. he hadn’t paid too much attention to you after you had served him, and you had become so busy with serving other patrons that you hadn’t the time to talk to him again.
however, what you didn’t expect was to see kaeya sat by the bar, mid-conversation in the afternoon when you arrived at the tavern for your usual shift the next day. “oh, hey y/n!”, he grinned upon seeing you at the tavern door, making your stomach swirl with butterflies.
why was he here? he didn’t seem like a day drinker. plus he was a knight, so wouldn’t he have work to do? nevertheless, as much as you were taken by surprise to be graced by his presence, you were quite pleased to see him again - at least this time you’d be able to make up for your weak first impression. “hello, um.. what can i get for you?”, you asked once you were back behind the bar, the scene looking much like that of the one you met in a few hours ago.
“a glass of apple cider please, and, if i may ask, your company for a while?”, he responded smoothly, completely catching you off guard.
all you could find yourself doing in response was spluttering a stuttered, “oh.. o-of course!” and quickly turning your back to the captain to prepare his drink. it bewildered you how embarrassed you felt in front of the navy blue haired man; perhaps all the talk of everyone’s high regards for him made you self conscious, like a giant spotlight was on you for even being near him. so much for repairing that first impression though, eh?
“you know, you don’t have to be so shy around me, y/n. i don’t bite,”, you heard from over your shoulder, an understanding chuckle escaping his lips and resonating in your mind. your eyes clamped closed and your palms were clammy as you poured the cider into a glass, but you held your head high. kaeya was trying his best to break the ice with you, finding amusement in your demeanour, though he sympathised. despite his confident, charismatic appearance, he held a softer, sensitive heart, hiding his vulnerabilities out of instinct.
turning once again to face him as you did the night before, you placed his drink down on the bar and smiled friendlily back at him, humming in response to his gentle remark.
after paying for his drink, he took a sip of his cider before relaxing his posture, hands resting either side of the decorated glass. “ah, so, tell me about yourself! i know pretty much everyone here, but i don’t recall ever seeing you before, y/n.”. that was true, how come he knew your name if it were only your first meeting yesterday? you hadn’t given it much thought at first when you walked into the tavern just a mere five minutes ago, but now you were curious.
feeling a little put on the spot, you dragged out an “umm..” momentarily as you thought of how to introduce yourself. barbatos knows what he already knew too, with him already knowing your name. “well, as you seem to know already, im y/n.. i’ve been bartending here for a few months now but i usually do the daytime shifts so i’m not surprised we haven’t met before.”, you drummed your fingers against the wood of the bar, almost as if you awaited his grading of your introduction.
“speaking of which… how come you knew my name?”, you added on slightly abruptly, though you had to let your curiosity get the better of you - it was only natural!
it was kaeya’s turn to be the one caught off guard in response; breathily chuckling and looking down to his glass, though he still kept his composure better than yourself. “well.. after our meeting last night, i couldn’t help wondering who you were, so..”, he shrugged his shoulders, “i asked around the tavern a bit to get your name and i found out you work the day shift usually.”.
your cheeks flushed a soft pink for the umpteenth time, imagining someone as illustrious as captain kaeya making the rounds to get your name. his confessional didn’t last long though as he switched the embarrassment back to you, suavely saying “i had to give you the chance to redeem yourself with a new introduction anyway, didn’t i?” his smirky smile made your knees weak; you were sure he knew it, and very clearly enjoyed making you shy. “i’d say you’ve got yourself a new daytime regular from now on, y/n!”.

synopsis: a walk through the mountains of liyue with your friend, kazuha, leads to a conversation revealing your deepest desires.
“getting tired?”, you tittered while holding out your hand to your friend, kazuha, as he drowsily smiled back at you. the pair of you had decided to take a hiking trip through liyue for the day, with you both being kindred spirits in nature, but clearly the samurai had begun to tire after a while.
shaking his head at you while grasping your hand gently, he joined you up on the cliffside. “how can one not resist the urge to bask in the summer sun and rest a while? the view is amazing, and of course the company isn’t so bad either..”, he teased, a faint smirk appearing on his lips. lifting your hand to his face, you gently pinched his cheek and mockingly rolled your eyes. “come, let’s rest here a while.”, you followed kazuha over to a tall tree, where he sat down with his back resting against it, patting the space beside him for you to join him.
once you were sat down, you admired the view of the rolling sea of clouds ahead, sneaking glances at kazuha every so often. despite all the burdens of his past, kaedehara kazuha was carefree and calm. ‘life is for living each moment to the fullest’ as he would put it; he knew that if he didn’t cherish every moment he had, he would be sacrificing his happiness. this sentiment lingered in your mind often: you poured your heart into the things that made you happy, especially the time you spent with kazuha, but your prolonged time together ultimately lead to you wishing that this time could be more than just two friends hanging out - you liked kazuha a lot, but you were afraid of opening up and risking your strong bond over a ‘what if’.
“what’s wrong? what are you thinking about?”. kazuha redirected your attention back to him, his syrupy eyes meeting your own. you shrugged, smiling to reassure him, but he looked down at his hands.
taking one of his hands in your own, you hummed, “what about you? what are you thinking about?”. the samurai glanced up at you, his thumb brushing over your knuckles carefully. he seemed lost in thought as well, but the smile he gave you seemed… shy?
“y/n.. have you ever had the urge to do anything before?”. you furrowed your brows at his out of the blue question, pondering it for a moment. sure, you’d had urges before, but you weren’t exactly sure in what sense he meant. needing some clarification, you questioned in what sense kazuha meant, his response being embarrassed and timid. “i mean like… uh, like.. just now, i-“.
clinging onto every word that left his mouth, you urged him to go on. sighing, he continued while dropping his head to look at your hands holding his, “just now, i felt… when you held my cheek.. i wanted.. to-“, he paused, glancing up at you in defeat. “i had the urge to.. kiss you.”.
oh.
taking your silence as a red flag, the inazuman boy hurried to apologise for his confession, coughing under his breath, knowing he must’ve crossed several lines, but you cut him off. you raised your hand back to his now scarlet cheek, and asked in a whisper, “do you… still have that urge now..?”.
his eyes widened and met your own deadpan serious ones. your stomach contorted, feeling as though a thousand crystalflies were swarming inside of you, and you knew kazuha felt the same as his hand shakily lifted to rest on yours currently cradling his silky skin.
only a few centimetres lay between your faces at this point, kazuha’s nervous gaze drifting from yours to your lips and back again. it was as though time ceased to exist, you were the only two people existing in that moment, yet you were still afraid of the millions of alternative outcomes that could come from what you wanted most of all.
‘life is for living each moment to the fullest’ your brain reminded you. the distance between your lips and kazuha’s slowly became smaller and smaller, until you could feel the boy’s warm, anxious breaths lingering on your skin.
“can i kiss you?”, kazuha asked, almost completely silent, his eyes beginning to flutter closed as he awaited your response.
squishing his cheek gently, you chuckled breathily, “i thought you’d never ask.”.

synopsis: you’ve had a passion for honouring the yaksha since you were a child. but what would happen if you met one face to face without realising?
AN: hi!! im so sorry for the lack of updates this week, i had to take an impromptu hiatus due to my health, but im getting back on track now. thanks for the patience in waiting for my updates, i promise lots more longer fics like this are coming in the near future!!
from a young age, you had always been infatuated with liyue’s yaksha. you had come across a novel of folklore as a child, detailing how the five foremost yakshas had protected your homeland under the authority of the geo archon, rex lapis. most people didn’t seem to pay as much attention to the demon slayers however; with four of the five having either passed away or disappeared, it seemed that the public’s interest had deteriorated - much like the ancient statues and shrines dedicated to the fearless warriors.
often you could be found by a shrine to the yakshas, taking the responsibility of maintaining them to their former glory as your calling. your most recent endeavour was at a particularly neglected temple a few miles out from your home village; the roof had collapsed in on itself a good few years ago and the timber had grown a skin of moss, leaving the statues and relics within stripped bare to the elements. really, it should’ve been a job for at least four people, but your stubborn nature led you to tackle the problem alone.
with sweat gathering at your brow, your tiring body slumped down to sit on the ground and examine your work. the day had passed in an instant, and noticing how the sky was already dark and gloomy, you struggled to reason how you would be able to make it home safely. though you knew that alatus, the yaksha known as the conqueror of demons, was always defending your homeland from any and all threat, you still got chills whenever you saw fatui recruits dotted around the countryside.
you considered your best route back home, drawing a map of the area in the soil with your fingers, until the snap of a twig pierced the silence, the hairs on the nape of your neck standing up alert. you could feel someone’s stare burning into the back of your head. “please don’t be the fatui, please don’t be the fatui..” you whispered over and over to yourself, timidly turning your head to look over your shoulder.
at first, there was nothing, though the afraid feeling of anticipation lingered in the pit of your stomach. perhaps it was only an animal, right? not quite. a young man emerged from behind a tree, his golden eyes glowing amid the darkness. he was unlike anyone you had seen before: his hair was windswept yet fluffy, and his arms were toned and tattooed. he appeared to be in pain, breathing heavily and irregularly.
“um.. do you-“ you began offering to help, but were forced to bite back your tongue as the mysterious figure brushed past you and into the temple.
his voice was hoarse, like he had screamed and shouted for a millennia. “leave. you shouldn’t be hanging around here.”. he didn’t dare to look back at you as he demanded to be left alone, making your blood boil. who does he think he is, commanding you to abandon the thing you devoted so much of your time to as if he owned it?
typically, you weren’t much of a confrontational person, but it was as though the anger and aggression that radiated off of this stranger infected you as well, driving you to retaliate. “and you are? i happen to be the sole person that cares about this temple nowadays! i’ve been trying to restore liyue’s honour towards the yaksha for a long time now!”.
grinding his teeth, he turned around to face you, his eyes still not lifting to meet your own which were currently shooting daggers at his weakened form. “what would you know of the yaksha?”, he tutted in sickly amusement. “i am adeptus xiao, conqueror of demons, not interested in making your acquaintance. now leave.”. he crossed his arms, choking back a wince in pain.
conqueror of demons? as if you would believe the word of a man that cowered to be the remaining yaksha in liyue? you’d seen it before, delusional fans rallying the streets in praise of those who claimed to be the yaksha, completely blind to the absurdity of their lies.
though when you took a step back, you began to notice the smaller details that xiao possessed. his tattoos, for example, resembled the animalistic forms that alatus was known for, and a mask depicting those of which you had seen in ancient portraits and figures. surely not.. no. but..?

synopsis: you’ve been feeling neglected by your lover rosaria lately, so you decide to steal her away from the tavern in a spur of the moment move.
the late evening breeze through the streets of mondstadt was beginning to get chilly as night set in; you were out and about searching for your lover rosaria, the infamous sister at the favonius cathedral. you weren’t entirely sure why, but an overwhelming need for the affections of the icy woman had come over you in a hurry. she wasn’t typically one for showing affection often, her methods of conveying her love for you were mostly indirect. most people in mondstadt didn’t even know you were an item to be frank, and though you were understanding that rosaria wasn’t keen for pda, it bothered you at times that you felt as though you were holding back your feelings for your lover’s sake.
you opened the door to the angel’s share tavern to begin tracking down rosaria, the strong scent of alcohol instantly hitting you. it was uncommonly busy tonight, multiple people crowded around the bar while calling out their orders at the very overwhelmed bartender. seems your endeavour to seek out the woman that held your heart was proving much more difficult than expected.
after squeezing your way through the crowd of drunkards congregated by the tavern’s entrance, you stood up on your tip toes and attempted to look around. that was until a familiar voice caught your attention from behind you. “y/n? what a surprise, didn’t take you for the drinking type!”. venti, mondstadt’s alcohol leeching bard bore a smile, one glass of dandelion wine in one hand, and his expensive looking lyre in the other. with the bard’s known reluctancy to ever pay for his drinks, you wondered how he ever was able to afford such an exquisite instrument.
nevertheless, you shook your head and smiled, “oh no no, i’m not here to drink..”. you paused, feeling a little embarrassed by your needing for rosaria’s attention. “i was just looking for someone..”. catching your drift, venti slapped your shoulder in a friendly manner, and dismissed himself, allowing you to continue your search.
laughter mixed with an orchestra of glass clinking drew you upstairs to another seating area within the tavern, and sure enough, you found rosaria’s figure slumped in a chair, accompanied by captain kaeya and some adventurers you hadn’t gotten to know the names of. you weren’t sure if it was anger or the desire to encapsulate the woman’s attention that led you over to the table, but before you could stop yourself, you were already walking over to the group and positioning yourself on rosaria’s lap.
looking up at you as your arm slinked around rosaria’s neck, the sister attempted to remain as calm and collected as humanly possible. “o-oh.. y/n, what are you doing here?”, she asked, ignoring the amused looks from kaeya and the other people around you both.
smiling back at her innocently, you shrugged, “i was wondering where you were so i decided to check here, and here you are.”. inside you were dying, your confident exterior slowly melting away as you felt rosaria’s hand rest on your skirt-exposed thigh. “i hope you guys don’t mind if i steal sister rosaria away from you?”, you asked the group, though you were more demanding that she could be excused to go home with you.
“yeah of course, you are her partner after all!”, kaeya smiled with a slightly condescending tone, “plus, i’m sure she has much more urgent things to attend to right now anyway.”. the cavalry captain gestured for you both to go, helping you get up from your perch on your lover’s lap in the process.
holding out a hand for your mulberry lover, she glared up at you for a moment before taking your hand and finishing her drink off quickly. together you descended down the stairs and headed towards the exit of the tavern. “you can be such a brat at times yknow?”, she rolled her eyes at you.
“i know.”, you chuckled, wrapping your arm around rosaria’s waist, getting a kiss on the head from the intimidating woman in return.
