Hey guys just dropping in to say HEDs/HSD is NOT as rare as tiktok/other social media platforms would have you believe and it is possible to be hypermobile and NOT experience full dislocations. Hypermobility is (as many things are) a spectrum, no matter where you fall on the spectrum your symptoms, pain etc are valid <3
HEDs is also not! The only type of EDS and I believe that should be more widely acknowledged!
With that said if you suspect you are hypermobile or have another type of EDS you should ABSOLUTELY see your doctor about it and discuss your options, do your research and refuse to be dismissed as they are so inclined to do. The road may be hard but the journey is worth it in the end.
MRAAAAAHHHHH!!!!!!! at the END OF THE DAY, just when I couldn’t wait longer and when my birthday was feeling pretty crappy, THEY ARRIVED!!!!!!!! my darling starsky is here!!! I made a necklace and bridle and modified a harness to fit them, and omg they’re so soft and adorable <333 I’m pretty sure a fragment is already latching to them, and BONUS I’m like 99% sure it’s sunrise’s sib too, cuz they were really cuddly with sunrise’s plushie, so YAY!!!!
Here’s some positivity for systems whose plurality is affected by their physical disabilities!
It makes sense that for many systems, their physical disabilities affect their plurality in some way. Whether the impact your disability has on your system is positive or negative, anticipated or unexpected, you belong in our spaces as you are! So here’s to all the systems whose plurality is affected by their physical disabilities!
💖 Shoutout to systems with headmates who hold symptoms of their disabilities!
🎵 Shoutout to systems whose communication and access to each other is affected by their levels of pain, fatigue, brain fog, or awareness!
🌻 Shoutout to mobility aid users who use different mobility aids depending on which headmate is fronting!
💖 Shoutout to systems with some members who cope with their disabilities better or worse than the rest of their headmates!
🎵 Shoutout to systems whose plurality developed as a result of their physical disabilities!
🌻 Shoutout to systems with headmates who each have different ideas about how their disabilities should be handled or dealt with!
💖 Shoutout to systems whose physical disabilities make it challenging for them to do things that many other systems find comes easily or naturally!
🎵 Shoutout to systems whose physical disabilities cause their plurality to present in unique or distinct ways!
🌻 Shoutout to systems whose physical disabilities affect their headmates to varying degrees!
💖 Shoutout to physically disabled systems with lots of headmates whose roles involve caring for their system or their body!
🎵 Shoutout to systems who need different accessibility accommodations depending on which headmate is fronting!
Our plurality and our disabilities are often both intrinsic aspects of who we are. It’s okay and honestly to be expected to experience multiplicity that is informed or influenced by your physical disabilities. If your own system’s plurality is impacted by your disabilities, please know that you are still lovely, special, and unique just the way you are.
It’s okay if you aren’t able to do things a lot of systems take for granted because of your disabilities. It’s okay if your disabilities cause your plurality to present in distinct ways. Regardless of what your system looks like, your multiplicity is valid and you belong in the plural community just the way you are. We are so happy to have you here! We are rooting for you and we are wishing the very best for you and your system. Thank you so much for reading, and take care!
If anyone is willing and able to spare a few dollars, we're fundraising to buy the lifetime membership for Coughdrop AAC (one-time purchase of 295 $USD)
We're currently an unemployed student whose disabilities make it difficult to earn much income -> currently, most of our funds go towards medication, appointments, and food
We plan to host a livestream "donathon" in which we'll draw a little doodle for every person who donates during the livestream, but we don't know exactly when that'll be...
Please don't feel pressured to donate if you're not in a place to safely do so! Times are tough, and there's nothing wrong with prioritizing your health and well-being <3
If you can though, our Ko-fi is
Support The Council On Ko-fi. Ko-fi lets you support the people and causes you love with small donations
So when Viktor posts a GoFundMe for a wheelchair he gets offered a free one but when I post about doing good in a bowling match despite feeling like someone played my nerve like a banjo I'm questioned about it? Viktor can just say he did whatever but the second I'm living life despite my disability I'm not the right kind of disabled? And I know the second I bring this up everyone is gonna gang up on me again so I'm not gonna say anything but still??
Is completing stress relieving tasks supposed to make us incredibly sick and exhausted? Are we supposed to still be dissociative and in pain, because we got our chores done that's meant to make us feel better. We did some of the shopping did the hair did the Victor social media chores (most of them) and we're just, sick and nasty feeling still. We're so sick we can't play overwatch properly, we played better mid seizure than we did last night, and that's our one way of remaining conscious when we can't do much else.
It's exhausting. but @guardianssystem has been looking after us though, so we get sick cuddles and headpats yay (we love him very much)
