on #transdayofvisibility back in 2017, i came out as “not sure what just definitely not cis” on tumblr, because it was my most anonymous social media. it’s been 2 years of figuring things out, having long conversations, & getting comfortable with being uncomfortable and with realizing that i don’t quite fit into the Gender Box. i’m happy to be out and visible as #nonbinary. i’m still careful about what platforms i’m open on. my anxiety gets the best of my sometimes. i’m still totally incapable of taking a decent selfie (i’m so sorry, @jennaging, I’M DOING MY BEST). but maybe this time next year, i’ll be out everywhere. maybe i’ll actually have my breathing techniques down. maybe i’ll figure out what an “angle” (??) is. but until then: this is me, and that’s enough. happy visibility day, my beautiful #trans family. i love you. 💙💓💙💓💙 #tdov #queervisibility #queer #genderqueer #bipride #disabledandqueer #mentalhealth https://www.instagram.com/p/BvrpURShFra/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1tfr1pxuf5jo6

Queer Crip Truth - a song I wrote in the spring of 2024

This is a song I wrote after hearing the song "Yer So Bad" by Tom Petty, my favorite musician. I really liked the melody and decided that I wanted to write a song about being queer and disabled. I If you know that song, imagine it as the music behind these words, and if you don't, go check it out, it's a great song! I kept a couple of the words from the original version but the rest are mine, and of course Tom Petty gets all the credit for the tune, the structure and the words I didn't change. Thanks for inspiring me, Tom Petty! :)

They may see my body 

And wonder about me

Don’t understand how queer crips work

Tonight I’m reposting this lovely graphic by @alyseruriani I post about politics on this page because mental health can’t be properly addressed for people who are oppressed. It’s impossible to talk about resources and accessibility without also mentioning how inaccessible the world is and how difficult it is to reach resources. I’m currently looking for a new therapist and psychiatrist who take my insurance because for the last year I’ve been paying out of pocket. The state of health is directly affected by the state of the world and how we treat the health of poor people versus the health of rich people. It’s affected by racism, sexism, capitalism, homophobia, transphobia, hustle culture, fatphobia, and every other form of oppression you can think of.
