Rec: What a great format! I’ll be frank, I’ve gotten pretty jaded with reading about John finding out how and why Sherlock faked his death because it’s always the same facts, but this absolutely breathes fresh life into the trope. I loved seeing John’s reactions to each segment, and the author did a great job of balancing suspense and anticipation as the tension and flirtation built. I honestly didn’t know what would happen when John finally confronted Sherlock, and when the moment came, it was all i could have wanted and more.

PS just for clarity, the tags say post-Reichenbach, but it’s actually set after series 4 with a discussion of the (pre- and) post-Reichenbach period.

Rec: This fic had me at Mamma Mia fusion, and I would have been perfectly happy with that, but then it goes for the plot twist that had me squealing out loud in sheer delight and anticipation of the juicy story that it heralded.

Swapping out the glittering, cheerful Aegean setting for the isolated yet close-knit Isle of Man, this fic features threats and intrigue, tenderness and nostalgia, and pesky ghosts of the past that put both Sherlock’s and John's skillsets to the ultimate test of life or death. We also gradually find out what caused the long estrangement, and what John and Sherlock’s lives have been like without each other in the intervening years.

It’s a roller coaster of all the emotions that had me cheering with glee, growling with frustration, and swooning with the flutters when all is finally set right.

As the tags say, no familiarity with Mamma Mia is required. Just settle in and enjoy the pleasures of a fantastically well written story that knows how to deliver it all.
