I have a thought! Here is my thought, which is not very well thought.

Z-Team plushies:

After they defeat Shroud they're now big time hero's, which means PR training and merch.

Robert wants to help, he doesn't want someone to feel bad for not selling well or start fighting about sales.

Right before the launch he gets one of every Z-team's plush and posts a picture on his Mecha man account hyping them up.

Right after he posts a video with all the toys sitting on a shelf and explains why he has them in the order he does.

Golem and Invisigal have to be together, they're besties.

Same with Prism and Flambae but he refuses to explain why his own plushie is next to Flambae's.

Coupe and Punch up are also paired but Punch is facing the wall, apparently Coupe is mad at him right now but Robert won't say why.

Phenomaman and Waterboy are together, Waterboy is really patient and helps Phenomaman understand humans better.

Malevola is by herself but Robert explains that Sonar should be there but he's not allowed right now.

He then has to post a follow up video showing Sonar on the shelf but facing the corner by himself, Robert says he has to stay there until he apologizes for stealing his twinkie. (The internet loves everything about this)

After the plushies drop, (sales are booming), Robert keeps posting videos but only when he's upset and has put them in timeout.

Invisigal jump scared him, Punch Up took the last donut, stuff like that.

The most notable time is when Flambae is put in a cabinet under the sink, apparently he was mean to him in Robert's dream.

Dispatch Fanfic Plot Concept - The Massuese

So at some point, someone finds out that Robert never actually finished his physical therapy and medical shit after being in a coma for months and is like "hey. You need to do that"

Robert disagrees but the power of peer pressure (and Blazer threatened suspension) makes him cave. So he starts going to PT.

Sometimes that includes getting massages. He actually really likes this part, even though it took a bit of time to work through the "get up" trauma and the internalized idea that luxury isnt meant for him. But he does and he enjoys it now.

So it's his day off and he's got an appointment.

Meanwhile at SDN, Z-team is working with their substitute dispatcher. Sub gets a call that a local clinic needs assistance, Flambae volunteers, and poor naive sub allows it- surely the heroes know their own strengths best, right? Flambae volunteers cause he knows that's where Robert goes and he wants to mess with him. No other reason.

Anyway all that to culminate in a scene where Flambae is Roberts massage therapist. Make that as spicy as you want.

In Sonar's defense, he'd been doom scrolling and was most certainly not expecting to randomly see a picture of the Mecha man suit in a burger king parking lot while swiping through Twitter

he was expecting to swipe up and see a picture of the man himself and a young kid between the ages of 6 - 8, even less

It was for a brief moment that he wondered how the cashier could've thought it was just a really good cosplay before he realized it was Halloween and the kid was dressed up too

Safe to say, he immediately sent it to the group chat,

Phantom was an interesting kid,

Robert made a mental note to find out where the kid was hiding. He knew it was somewhere in his territory. If it wasn't, the kid wouldn't have found him,

Maybe the 'pharaoh' and 'vines' kids were there too. If they were friends, they probably were. If not, he probably would know where they were,

"Mr. Robin."

Robert looked back down at the kid, who had, for some reason, decided he was going to stick with him the entire way to the observatory,

"Yeah, kid?"

The kid didn't look up, playing with the toy that came with the kids' meal -some kind of alien-, seeming just as at home in the suit as Robert was

"Where are we going?"

Robert hummed

"Up to the observatory, the sky should be clear enough to see some stars tonight."

The kid's head snapped up so fast that Robert was glad he had already confirmed the kid was at the very least half human. Otherwise, it would've definitely been concerning,

"There's an observatory?!!?!?

the kid's eyes were so wide he could see stars in them

Robert grinned, "Yep, sit tight and... try not to vibrate through the bottom of the suit. We'll be there soon."

robert is the one who coughs up flowers, and doesn't tell anyone, of course. he gets found out eventually tho and this group of assholes are worried about him in their own ways. the aggressive fussing is kinda nice actually. (aggressive both in the sense of energetic AND threatening)

it eventually gets bad enough robert's life is now in danger (which doesnt happen often, if you let go of the feelings the flowers will fade too. robert's stubborn.), and a promise is finagled out of him that he will confess to the person the flowers are for. he can always resort to the removal surgery. he doesn't really want to, removing the flowers removes the memories, not just the feelings

flambae takes the confession pretty well, even tho he doesn't return the feelings. BUT. he is offended at the very idea of robert forgetting him. so he tells robert to start taking him on dates, until flambae can feel the same. (and now he has an excuse to boss this mattressless loser into a healthier lifestyle)

💭💭ok hear me out watermech but they keep narrowly missing each other. this could be whatever flavor of watermech you like mind you so ill do two scenarios

1. (this would be if you picked phenomaman over waterboy) regular flavor, post-canon/after shroud whatever you wanna call it, another team takes notice of waterboy and snatches that guy up immediately.

he gets training, robert keeps hearing about the missions hes done, waterboy keeps hearing about the missions z-team (or him if you have him back in action as mechaman) has done, but they cant quite find each other to say congratulations, or in waterboys case a thank you, only to find they were just a few seconds late, or if theyd just waited a minute longer or been in another room they wouldve met up by chance instead.

2. EVIL flavor!!! (im using my interpretation of a villain waterboy au for this one but feel free to go crazy with your own) (aka im bringing back the janitor stay tuned)

with this one it would be more of just robert narrowly missing waterboy instead of it being mutual cause this dudes slippery. always in the shadows, quiet, making himself scarce at the crime scene while he washes away the evidence and slips away without anyone noticing.

but when mechaman goes MIA and robert becomes a dispatcher, he starts popping up more. frequent calls about a "sighting" every now and then, but no dice. but in this period hes not in action either, he knows the situation and hes trying to help, which just makes robert want to catch him even more

Secretly, they were the Mecha-Man legacy.

Robert, while Robbie had repeatedly called him a disappointment and stain upon the Mecha-Man name, still was the sole heir.

Over time he became friends with the meta human singer/streamer Visi, secretly becoming one of her top supporters and publicly becoming her primary technician.

After the gig in Vegas they go to the club to celebrate, and Robert becomes enamored with the Dancer the announcement calls Volcan. Visi knows him, Chad seems fake but okay, so they get introduced.
