(This is probably not what you're expecting, but the idea hit me and now I'm rolling with it)
Randy was currently napping on Adrien's couch. That, in itself, was nothing special. He napped on his couch all the time.
The same way he napped on Howard's couch, and Danny's beanbags, and Jake's futon. He napped in all of his friend's houses whenever he could.
Naps with your friends were nice.
But this was the first time in a month anybody had been able to get over to Adrien's. Even their video chats with him had been sparse, Adrien only checking in once a week to prove he was still alive, and looking more and more frazzled each time.
And while the rest of them understood, it kinda sucked hanging on the sidelines.
But things had started calming down on Adrien's end, meaning he was looking less like he was about to cry at any given moment, so Randy had taken the initiative to pop over and hang out for a while.
Aka, he was napping until Adrien got back from whatever it was that models actually do after school.
He was woken from his nap by the sound of the door quietly shutting. There was silence for a moment, before some quiet steps accompanied by the soft jangle of some bracelets started walking towards the other side of the room.
Randy frowned as he rubbed the sleep from his eyes. Adrien wasn't one to be quiet in his room, usually throwing himself onto the nearest flat surface with a dramatic groan and whining to his kwami. He talked to himself and Plagg to fill the silence all the time. It was one of the reasons Randy, Jake, and Danny found every excuse to come over.
He heard the person sneak across the carpet, over to where Adrien's desk was. Randy was still laying down on the couch, hidden from view, but he sat up when he heard papers rustling and some drawers being opened. Was Adrien being robbed right now? Was that what was happening?
He watched the girl for a moment, only her back visible from where she was digging through one of the desk drawers.
If his friend was being robbed by a weird fangirl, he should probably intervene right?
The girl jumped about a foot in the air, whirling to see Randy staring at her from behind the couch. Talk about getting caught with your hand in the cookie jar.
She blinked at him for a minute before loudly exclaiming, “Oh! I didn't know Adrien had….a friend over!”
Man, talk about sus. Could she sound any more sketchy?
“He invited me for a sleepover.” Randy lied. Not that he'd be opposed to a sleepover. He was a ninja, he could sneak out before any staff caught him.
It was just….something about her sent all his alarm bells ringing. He wasn't always the best judge of character, but this girl?
She giggled, twirling her hair like she wasn't just caught rifling through a desk. “And does Gabriel know you're here?” She said, putting a weird emphasis on his name.
“Uh, yeah?” Randy said in his best ‘duh’ voice. “I came through the front door.”
Also a lie. While Randy was one of the few friends that could actually get permission to be over (thank you rich parents), he tended to just sneak in and out anyways. It was just so much easier.
Randy climbed up to perch on the back of the couch. Her face twitched as she gave him a once over, staring at his shirt and gripping her phone so tightly that Randy was pretty sure the case started to crack.
She was reminding him of MacAntfee. And any comparison to that fake, lying, power-hungry poser was not a good sign.
They were interrupted by Adrien coming into the room, and collapsing against the door, groaning loudly as his bags slid off his shoulders.
“Rough day Kitten?” Randy asked.
Adrien startled at his voice, before grinning brightly and rushing over to hug his friend. “Randy!”
Randy laughed, “Missed you too!”
And of course their reunion was immediately ruined by the creepy maybe-thief fangirl.
He tensed in Randy's arms, before visibly putting on his Model Face and turning to the intruder. Randy grabbed his wrist in silent support.
“Lila. What are you doing here?”
She giggled again, sashaying closer to them. “Ohhh, my tinnitus was acting up so Ms. Bustier sent me home early! I needed the notes from our last class and since we're so close I thought I could borrow them from you!”
Adrien grimaced, “I missed the last few classes of the day because of a shoot. Nino is sending me the notes. You would've had better luck asking Max or Alya.”
She smirked, “I'll be sure to do that. But aren't you gonna introduce me to your friend? I wasn't aware you were allowed company over?”
Oh Randy had a terrible idea.
Randy threw on a bright grin, “I'm Randy! Adrien's boyfriend.”
Dead silence. Although Randy was pretty sure he could hear Plagg quietly snickering from Adrien's pockets.
Lila had a gobsmacked look on her face, and while Adrien was very clearly confused, he just nodded and smiled. “Yeah. My boyfriend. Randy. From America.”
He walked over to a sputtering Lila and started herding her towards the door. “Anyways we were gonna hang out so nice to see you, please stay out of my room, I'll see you at school, bye!”
He shoved the door shut before hitting his head on it with a solid ‘thunk’. Plagg flew out of his shirt, cackling.
Adrien looked back at his sheepish friend. “My boyfriend? Really?”
Randy threw his arms up in that air, “She was so sketchy! I panicked!”
Adrien started laughing. “Danny is gonna be so mad he missed his chance.”
“He can have a turn later.”
He just shook his head, throwing his bag towards his desk, not really caring about the small mess he made as it spilled out. “I'm going to have to call Nino now and tell him we're fake dating.”
Randy winked, “Remember rule one of the fake dating trope! You absolutely, under no circumstances, are allowed to fall in love with me.”
Adrien pushed his face back till he flopped back over the couch with a yelp. “Yeah no worries about that.”
