Hello everyone and I hope you’re all having a fantastic day. In this post I want to talk about pendulum readings, my take on them, and how I use them in my practice.

Intro to Pendulum

So for those who don’t know Pendulum readings are used to get a direct yes, no, and maybe answer for a question you have. Depending on what you believe either energy, spirits, your subconscious, or just the universe knows the answer and manipulates the pendulum to tell you. While you can use tarot for your yes or no questions it’s personally not my preferred method as there are usually different interpretations whether a particular card is yes or no depending on who you ask or what your sources are. So a pendulum is a easy and direct answer to your questions.

You can incorporate crystal work into your pendulum readings as there are an abundance of crystal pendulums out there to buy. I personally have a Smokey quarts pendulum which is a good crystal for anxiety and banishing negative influences. I personally struggle with anxiety which can effect my energy when it comes to readings so I felt like this was a perfect choice for myself. Traditionally speaking some of the best crystals for psychic intuition and divination are Amethyst, Sodalite, Lapis Lazuli, Labradorite, Citrine, and Clear Quartz. However if you don’t have a pendulum or a board and can’t buy one quite yet. A paper made board with yes at the top and bottom and no one the left and right , and a crystal necklace or any form of chain with a heavy weight on the bottom can suffice just fine.

How I do my readings

In my experience there are two way to do pendulum readings.

1) The first one I cleanse my pendulum with incense, and then I hold it over my board. I start off with what I call “warm up” questions that I already know the answer too or that are objective truths. They’re as simple as “is it sunny outside today?”, “is my eye color green?”, “did I wear red today?” etc. Once the pendulum starts to gain its correct momentum I then start asking the questions that I don’t know the answer too.

2) Now this method is for more serious questions or just questions that are taking a toll on me. Like before I first cleanse my pendulum. Then I mediate with it in my hands really focusing on my question and why I want to know the answer. Once I feel ready I hold it above my reading board and wait for my answer.

have you ever had a tarot reading with a deity that was just an absolute clusterfuck? i tried looking at it from a few different angles, but it was just... wild. any advice?

Oh absolutely! I’ve had plenty of readings that were either headscratchers or just plain “what the fuck??”. There are a bunch of reasons why these occur and depending on the reason there are some things you can do. 

It could be the Tarot deck itself causing the strange reading especially if you haven’t cleansed the deck in awhile. The solution is giving the deck a good cleanse. 

Your energy could be throwing the reading off or you’re just not in the best headspace to interrupt the reading. Solution here is to put the cards down and revisit it when you’re in a better mindset. Focus on you for the time being. 

Sometimes it doesn’t even need to be that you’re in a bad headspace but just that day there was something in the cosmos that was causing interference. So it could be helpful again to revisit the reading on another day

It could be you’re not meant to know the message yet. Perhaps it’s something that will become clearer in the future. I recommend recording the reading as best you can so you can refer to it later if need be. 

You could be getting an incoherent message on purpose because they didn’t want to answer the question or do the reading in the first place (this has happened to me before esp with Apollo. He gets VERY angry when I continuously ask him questions when I haven’t followed the advice he gave in the other readings I did with him lol)

And it could also be that regardless of how many different ways you’re looking at it you’re still missing the message because you know you’re human and that happens. It could help to get someone else's thoughts on it.

When I first started Tarot I read that you couldn’t do distance readings. This source said you need the other person to touch the deck and put their energy in it. Then I started Tumblr and saw all these people selling online readings and I was confused. Long story short distance readings gave me a hard time for a bit. One thing I do before a distance reading is imagine the other person with their energy around them sitting in front of me reaching out and putting they’re hand on the cards to share some energy with me.

So I was in the mood for some past life readings and I fanned out my cards for my dog and he ever so gently pulled a card with his mouth. Like I was so shocked, it wasn't even the most obvious card, he literally chose a card

Anyway the card he chose was temperance

What could this mean in relation to past life? Or something else?
