Update

I've passed my necessary DLPTs once again, thank goodness! I have MSA listening on Tuesday, Spanish listening on Wednesday, and Spanish reading on Thursday. Idc what I get on Tuesday as it's not necessary but I'd be interested to know how I do and I'm not worried about the Spanish because I always get a 3/3 on that one :). As for college, I've just finished all my classes for this semester except for a History class, which doesn't end until December but I'm over halfway through it and I really like it anyway. After that I only need one more class before I receive this degree and move on... But I still can't figure out what kind of degree I want to go for after this?! It's stressing me out because once I've completed this contract in the military, whatever degree I choose to go for would help me get a job afterward and I don't want to be miserable.. Grr.

I DLPT next week.

I still can hardly believe I'm so close to taking the DLPT - there were times I wasn't entirely sure I'd even have the privilege of taking this test, but now I have completed the OPI and I will be taking the Listening and Reading portions on Monday and Tuesday. I am so grateful for my Platoon Sergeant, who went to bat for me and helped me earn my rollback into this class, and I am grateful for my 1ST SGT as well. They invested in me and helped me make it through a rough patch, when I was struggling in class and in PT. 1ST SGT encouraged me, and even paced me on a run, and my PLT SGT found someone to train me in running and met me on Saturday mornings to train with me and another soldier as we prepared for our PT test. Even though my performance was not to standard, he saw that I was willing to put forth the effort and he treated me with respect and dignity, and did everything he could to help me make that work pay off. I was never an athlete in high school, but I imagine that the way these members of my company's cadre trained with me is very close to the ideal coach / athlete relationship, and I am so grateful to them! I am determined to do well on my upcoming PT test and to pass this DLPT, not only for myself, but out of respect and gratitude for the investment that was made in me.

So I just took my DLPT and OPI in Urdu after two years of studying…

One of the hardest language tests for one of the hardest languages.

And I feel great. After two years, hardships, and toils I have finally gotten to the end. Whether or not I pass or fail is of no consequence to me. I made it to the end.

I conquered and overcame.

And now I wait till thursday for the results.

A little prayer and dua and meditation and spellwork from my followers always helps though, so if you could keep good thoughts my way you don’t know how much I’d appreciate it, y’all :)
