💛 reunion kiss/relief

Probably not what you were thinking, but hey, this is still a reunion kiss. Part of a 'what if Turner did manage to save Cressida' oneshot I plan to post soon.

(Also I know someone else asked for this exact combo for this ask meme, but I can't find the request in the comments/reblogs. Please @ me if you see this.)

But almost a couple of months later, Turner was casually inquiring about the safety of the Joker’s daughter. Which meant that she too had been part of tonight’s infiltration. How? Sure, Turner had refused to give up the other three fugitives in Wayne Manor when the Court had offer to reinstate him as a prince of Gotham if he joined them, but Cressida had believed the refusal was in part due to not knowing where the others were as well as Turner’s innate sense of loyalty and fairness. She hadn’t considered the idea that those four had somehow managed to work together. And work together well enough to make it this far.

Not only that, but they had gained allies as Cressida now recognized the mysterious girl as the same one who had helped Turner escape the Talon in Wayne Manor. Whoever she was, she was not just skilled, but also had some impressive gadgets. 

Apparently ‘impressive gadgets’ did not extend to cars, Cressida realized once they made it back to the rest of the group. 

“Where’s Duela?” 

The question came once again from Turner, but this time it was addressed to a girl that could be none other than Harper Row. 

“Right here,” came the answer from the van, and just like that the girl in question -who was for once not sporting her signature red hair- came to stand in front of them. Cressida flinched and even Turner tensed as she was in their personal spaces. Or rather in his personal space.

“Did you manage to give-”

He was cut off mid-sentence by the girl drawing him into a kiss. Cressida’s eyes found Harper’s accidentally and despite knowing next to nothing about each other, they both looked at the other like they were searching for an explanation for the shocking events that were happening under their eyes. Cressida felt weirdly relieved to know this was not common occurrence. She couldn’t imagine the sweet boy she had helped raise do … this with known criminals on an everyday basis. 

The girl stopped the kiss as swiftly as she had initiated it. Later on, they’ll all realize it had been a really short kiss, but it had been enough to rattle them all.

Turner and Duela were still closely face to face, his arms on hers, a dazed expression on his face. She however looked grimly determined.

“Now that you’re here, I made it back with everything I needed to,” she summarized, before turning abruptly toward Cressida. “Do we take her with us?” 

Cressida had seen -and dealt out- her fair share of contempt over the years, but the Joker’s daughter had a true knack for it.

“Yes,” was Turner’s short -but just as displeased- reply. 

And just like that, they were both inside the van, everyone resigned to her presence. Had she been in a better state of mind, she would have marveled at how their dynamics worked.

This is so not fair. We should have had at least five more years. The show has all the potential.

It has the best relationships. Familial, romantic and friendly. Such interesting characters. And the actors are doing such an amazing job. As is every last member of the crew. And they set up further story so so good. I want to see it. I want to know where it goes.

We could have had it all. But we only got 13 little gems. 🤬😭

A parallel between Claire Nunez (Trollhunters) and Duela Doe (Gotham Knights) that had popped into my head recently, courtesy of @laufire (Lau enabling my current obssession; what else is new? xDD) I have no editing skills so here are 2 low quality screenshots showing the lengths to which these girls would go to in order to save their love interests (Jim Lake Jr., respectively Turner Hayes):

In the first photo, Claire uses her magical powers to hide the sun in order to protect Jim, who is in troll form and as such would be killed by daylight.

In the second photo, Duela attackes Carrie after Carrie tried to stop her from giving the electrum -a meteor rock that can give humans immortality- to the murderous cult that is holding Turner hostage.

Do I have a point with this parallel? Not really. I just love-love-love how potent these ships are and just how far these two girls would go in the name of love. Truly there is no shipper high that's as great as the high you get from shipping the show's designated main pairing.
