Tony got some work at New York, while Stephen and Pepper were on vacation somewhere else (because Stephen needed a break from his stressful duties as Master of New York Sanctum). At one evening, they were walking/hugging/holding hands/kissing and some paparazzi caught that. Then their pictures immediately exploded on the internet with awful articles (calling them cheating, whore, etc...) without Pepper and Stephen knowing it.
FRIDAY alerted Tony about it and he was furious (how dare they talked about his lovers like that? Stephen and Pepper deserved better.) and feeling like he needed to remind those bastards why people called him Merchant of Death. After several hours of calls, digging and threatening and whispering to right ears, Tony done all his work and all that shit be gone. Then he could take a flight to join with his husband and wife.
Bonus: Pepper woke up in the morning after, checking the news on her phone and found nothing. She smiled and thought, “Well done, Tony.”
