L'alba degli e-book

La prima biblioteca digitale che ho avuto è stata quella fornita dal settimanale L'Espresso che, nel 2000, ha allegato alla rivista, uno per settimana, sette CD contenenti I Grandi Classici della Letteratura Straniera, già editi da Garzanti.

L'opera è dotata di un software di lettura per consentire la visualizzazione dei testi, l'inserimento delle note, il salvataggio e la stampa dei documenti; inizialmente l'ho utilizzata veramente poco, vista la difficoltà che avevo a leggere un testo sul video del PC e con lo scorrimento continuo della pagina, sistema che trovo tuttora difficile da usare per un libro.

I CD sono rimasti su uno scaffale, con i loro oltre 470 testi che spaziano nella letteratura classica da Cicerone a Cechov, da Dostoevskij a Euripide, fino a Tacito e Zola; ho fatto anche qualche tentativo di esportazione in formato leggibile con un programma di videoscrittura, per stampare alcuni estratti che servivano per delle ricerche. Smanettando sui CD mi sono ben presto reso conto che la struttura dei dati era veramente semplice: in ogni CD un file contiene la lista degli autori, dei titoli dei libri e un codice numerico univoco collegato a ciascuna opera; una directory di dati raccoglie tutti i documenti, con il nome dei file numerico; i file sono in formato RTF, anche se senza l'estensione, che è (era?) un formato di facile lettura.

Il giochino si è fermato lì sino a quando, cominciando a usare gli ebook reader, mi sono ricordato del piccolo tesoro che possedevo: farsi una tabellina di corrispondenze (con Excel) ed estrarre tutta la biblioteca ed esportarne poi i testi sul lettore è stato un gioco da bambini.

E allora, perché non leggere, ad esempio, qualche classico della letteratura latina?

My labor of love is now live: Wild Magic, the e-book!

Gosh, what a year. If you may not know, awhile back I wrote a Halsin/OC fanfic called Wild Magic (On Finding Bardic Inspiration), detailing some of the events that happen after the game's ending.

I loved the story and the OCs I made so much that I decided to be one of those authors and turn it into an original Romantasy (rated M for mature btw...). To be fair, I did add a lot more scenes (including more spicy scenes) and tightened up the writing as best I could.

It's now available as an e-book on Amazon (and currently working on other platforms).

Jorge de Lima (União dos Palmares–AL, 23 de abril de 1893 — Rio de Janeiro, 15 de novembro de 1953), médico de formação, foi poeta, romancista, tradutor, crítico e pintor. Sua produção artística múltipla em temas, formas e interesses se inscreve na segunda geração do Modernismo brasileiro (1930 – 1945).

De seus inícios sob influência parnasiana, o autor avançou pelo regionalismo de ar nordestino até o modernismo, cujo ápice podemos ver em Invenção de Orfeu, tido como a obra-prima do autor e como um dos poemas máximos de nossa língua.

Aqui reunimos aqueles que nos pareceram os melhores poemas cristãos dos livros de Jorge de Lima, tendo como eixos de eleição o vigor de sua mensagem, a potencialidade devocional, a beleza poética, a clareza, e certa ecumenicidade: poemas passíveis de apreciação por cristãos de qualquer corrente, do católico ao protestante, e mais, por todo aquele que se abriga sob as asas de nossa língua, da qual Jorge é um de nossos mestres.

A incontornável poética do menino de União dos Palmares, de simbolismo transcendente e fagulhas surrealistas, que faz dos problemas sociais matéria-prima enquanto celebra e destrincha o humano e o divino em linguagem densa, profética, avançando sempre em direção à iluminação, ao lúmen, é um maná para nossos tempos ressequidos, sedentos da restauração que só pode ser obtida nos braços de Jesus.
