Here we go again! Exciting!!!! I have a mix of Celadon and regular quail eggs in the incubator and one of my own pipped today (on day 15). The parents are Eddie and Xena! She lays these small ones with freckles.
That's the proud Dad.

I lived in a house with a small backyard, and one day I found 2 large eggs in the backyard. Each one hatched a baby sheep. I don't remember what I named the first one but the second one I named Chicken, just to be funny.
Happy 10th Anniversary to Rio 2!

Green Lynx Spider babies started hatching! These spiders are very protective of their egg sacs, and will guard them and their babies as long as they can. Lynx spiders are ambush predators closely related to Wolf spiders, who are also known for their maternal care (they carry their egg sacs and babies with them!) This spider made her nest in the rose bush on my front porch. February 8, 2019
EGG. Egg egg egg EGG!
You actually say just “egg” over and over in various excited inflections, and you’re still saying it when you reach Rosa’s front door. She answers, you say “EGG”, and it’s pretty easy for her to figure out what’s going on.
“They’re hatching already? Hmm, well, given how large the bigger of the two is, I’m really not surprised. Give me a moment to gather a few things, and then we can be on our way.” It’s not going to be the first time she’s let you fly her somewhere, and it’s probably not going to be the last, either. You’re hopping and buzzing with excited energy at the prospect of seeing your new grubs, and even though Rosa is hardly dallying you still feel like it’s taking forever. Finally she comes to you with an oversized diaper bag filled with grub blankets, towels, medicines, and whatever else she stuffed in that huge bag of mystery. You shoot Gamzee a text that only says ‘omw’ and then you are indeed on your way to Eridan’s hive.
It’s a pretty short flight, short enough that you’re not worn out from flying you and a passenger (before you started your psych meds it felt like you could fly forever without tiring, but now you have to ration your energy and psi use more carefully). You don’t even bother knocking, of course; you just barge right on in and holler “II’M HERE FOR THE EGG. EGG2.” Rosa just facepalms and asks you to lead the way to Gamzee’s block.
Leafhopper assassin bug eggs hatching. The eggs are cylindrical and look like they are encased in a Jello mold. As with other true bugs, you can see them developing inside of the eggs (it’s very faint but visible in the second photo—look for little red marks, those are their eyes and legs!).
When you have to squeeze out of a tiny tube to be born, it takes a bit of time! The newborn babies will stick by the egg mass as they wait for their exoskeletons to harden, but after that they will leave their siblings behind so they don’t accidentally eat them! Assassin bugs are predators, and the newborns eat small insects such as fruit flies.
