FFS... I may not have been impressed with Valko initially, but at least I was being normal about it. I was going to make a post or even a video admitting that I was wrong and do an analysis on why Valko set off red flags for me initially. But due to a portion of the player base acting like LITERAL TODDLERS, Infold pulled an Old Yeller on the guy! Do those entitled idiots honestly think their husbandos would be impressed or happy that their partner threw a massive tantrum and harassed a random guy just for the crime of existing?! Because if my boyfriend did something like that, he certainly wouldn't be my boyfriend anymore 😑

Here's the thing, I get that the atmosphere when you're at the con might seem better and more positive and we see a lot of wank online that probably isn't as obvious at the con. But even if you ignore all that, we can still watch all the panels. We still see the fans who will insult Jared and praise Jensen in the same breath just to then pull a "this question is for Jensen". We watch fans talk for 5 minutes about worshipping Jensen and then ask him about his bracelets. We see faces waste panel time to talk about their inappropriate Jensen shirts and then show off their creepy Jensen tattoos. During a half hour panel. We SEE all of this with our own two eyes. We hear the questions. We see the rude ops and hear the stories about how rude some fans are to his face (or to Jared fans just walking around the con). Is that the majority of the people? Of course not, no one is claiming that. But to act like those things don't happen, or don't matter, or don't affect people? Does a disservice to everyone.

Jared has admitted to seeing things online from haters and how it affects him, do you think people doing it to his face in public doesn't affect him? Do you think, to a lesser extent, it doesn't hurt Jared fans having to either deal with Jared-antis directly at the cons or just see the person they like have to deal with stuff like that and handle it with such grace and professionalism? To know that Jared doesn't feel safe eating any treats he gets anymore because there is a real threat of him being poisoned. To know that he needs extra security just to do what should be a (somewhat) fun and easy job? Newsflash, it feels shitty anon.

So yea, maybe the atmosphere AT cons isn't as wanky and negative as we see online - I think we all already got that one. But to act like it's nothing isn't helpful. To not address and acknowledge it is to give these people permission by sheer omission to continue to behave the way they do. Lack of accountability breeds this continued behavior. Naming it and addressing it isn't trying to detract from fans enjoyment of cons - on the contrary its trying to help make it enjoyable for everyone, not just certain loud groups.

I’ve had a lot of people doubt me when I say that there are those who hate Bard, Sebard especially…. Here’s one such example from @luci-on-the-moon’s IG….

The person is difficult to understand but the gist is that they’re acting like they’re speaking for *all* fans of Sebastian, insisting he’s not gay and that drawing him with Bard is gross.

(Keep in mind this was said to someone who draws Seb as gay exclusively and who is one of the biggest sebard shippers around….)

So basically: don’t draw Sebastian as gay, and don’t draw him with Bard 😒

These people created a version of Jarpad that only exists in their own minds and then get mad at him, based on their own self-created narrative about who he is. They did the same thing with SPN, they created a version of the show that didn’t exist and then got mad when their fake version didn’t air.

It’s just unchecked entitlement on a completely crazy level, where they not only feel entitled over fiction (someone else’s creative property), but even feel entitled over real people’s lives, words, friendships, associations, thoughts, opinions. They do same thing with other fans, try to “cancel” us or tell us who we can and can’t associate with, follow, or reblog from. It’s nuts. The desire to control other people is unhealthy and abnormal. Nobody on their own side has ever checked any of them. Nobody has ever said “hey you’re taking things too far.” They don’t care as long as they get followers, notes, reblogs, retweets, clout. There’s no low they can stoop to that’s too far for them. That’s what happens when you are completely obsessed with something, lose all sense of perspective. You harass, defame, threaten real people over fictional characters who aren’t real.

They have convinced themselves they are right about everything and are on a social justice crusade, because the truth of what they’re really about is too embarrassing for them- that they’re just a bunch of horny women obsessed with a gay slash ship. So they take that and wrap up in a faux veneer of activism, with their shipping fixation, projecting themselves onto actors (Misha or Jensen), their obsessive hate of Jarpad who they view as either a threat to their shipping fantasy or a rival to their fave in terms of success/fame/talent, or worse- both! and their anger that other fans who disagree with them dare to exist- wrap it all up into one all-consuming neurotic obsession that constitutes what seems to be the most miserable fandom experience any people ever created for themselves.
